@Enzo Alonzo thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I just picked up my 2003 Honda CR-V 5mt for 150 bucks and I’m just starting to mod it because why not I’ll never be able to find a different k powerd awd for 150 again so this this really awesome man. Yesterday I was considering doing the 2008 + element diff but this seems pretty great honestly man
Very helpful videos and research for the community, thank you. Curious as to which drive shaft set up you are running from the transfer case (crv/element, civic wagon viscous or the freelander viscous setup)
Thanks for the vid. Fantastic info. What are your thoughts of running an external electric hydraulic pump and getting rid of the ramp and focusing your new found space for extra clutch packs. Audi uses a system kind of like this (haldex)
Hello Friend, excellent informative video, these Modifications can be made to use the vehicle daily, I have a Honda Element 11 that is giving me Differential problems, when I turn to the right or left it makes a noise and vibrates, it is a clutch problem, doing that modification is corrected.
ok ive seen videos where people pin and weld thier clutch(then i found you can buy new clutch plates that do the work without pinning/welding), i assume to lock the diff so its always awd all the time, and ive seen a few of your videos where you change the springs and drill out the oil passage and im assuming that changes how fast the rear diff kicks in and how much power you get from the rear when it does?... what im not sure of is is it beneficial to do both or do you do one or the other. i figure locking the clutch probably wears your rear tires more, or can burn out the awd over the long run? but the springs and oil passage seems like a healthy upgrade that will stand the test of time? is there a place i can go to further educate myself on the subject? seems like an upgrade id want to do for my E
This is awesome... Im picking up a 5MT 2003 crv tomorrow and the guy says the rear diff is shot. There is a 2011 crv automatic at the junk yard by me... if I take the diff from the 2011, will the gear ratios be ok to just swap it in? Thanks!!
Red, does this kit makes it engage quicker but not solid or locked all the time? Where I can find your kit and how much will it be? I drive an Element 2011, will it work with my rear diff.?
its good to see some diy improvement on power transfer on a crv diff. thanks for sharing. my question is that : is there a comparison between your power transfer upgrade vs viscous coupler?
Hi nice work, I will like to do it on my car, but it's older version 1999-2005, dif and do you think the clutch 2006-2011 version will fit on older dif?
Are you ready to compare your setup to Tims? Would the ultimate setup for reducing slip in the rear be: - Freelander VC - pinned clutch pack/pump delete - GearX LSD ?
So to clarify: these are all the upgrades you made to your car to send approximately 40% of the torque/power to the rear wheels? And this negates the need for a viscous coupler? Thanks in advance for your help. Your videos have gone a long way to convincing me this is DIY doable. From where can we purchase the springs and shims?
What about the oil that was spilled when you were working on the pump ashembly? You dont refill any, right? Also thank you for this vid and tell us where we can buy the upgrade parts
I have a Honda Element and, watching Element videos, noticed that they sometimes don't transfer power very well. I have seen someone put a Crosstour rear diff into an Element and have also seen a video of someone upgrading the Element with a spool kit which is essentially the same as yours - drill out the oil passage and new springs. Is the CRV rear diff compatible with the Element? What makes the CRV rear diff better than the Element?
I think he mentioned somewhere that facelift 2nd gen('05 and '06) diff is same as 3rd gen dif. What I do know for sure is that 2nd gen facelift diff/system is quicker or more responsive to preface '04 or 1st gen crv.
Would a clutch pack delete work with this upgrade in the newer style dual pump assembly of the honda rear diffs? I just thought with this power transfer upgrade and the clutch pack delete would make the rear diff instantly engage.
Red is there a way to contact you directly? I have a customized AWD element with 400+ whp and cannot get any power to the rear wheels. I would really like your advice on best way to get consistent power to the rear.
You can msg me on Instagram gravy_built, but the front will spin until the rear catches up the rear wont apply pressure to the clutch unless the rear wheels are turning
Would the newer clutch pack with ramp assembly fit an 02 case, pump and input shaft?? Basically putting the new style pack on the older style case?? Also: Updates on revised version???
love the videos, great info , but fluid dynamics increasing orfice size lowers pressure more flow less pressure. Orfice size dictates the pressure coming out if you make it larger it is easier for the fluid to flow requiring less pressure. Like when rod bearings go in a vehicle your oil pressure drops because there is no resistance to the oil flow which creates the pressure. The pumps just create flow not pressure. not trying to be a douche, this may work by getting the fluid to flow in faster and actuate faster but it will not increase pressure. have you tried both with and with out drilling to seee which works better or if difference in engagement is felt? I am curious
Good man on the hand tool to test she right like you need her
You guys are very informative and helping the Honda community to a large extent. I hope this channel grows more.

@Kasen Asa you are welcome =)
Saved this to the CRV build playlist... you my friend are a BEAST! Awesome very detailed video. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Keep them coming guys. Nice work as always

Definitive the lightbringer in the k-series awd world.
I also started the biggest Honda AWD group in Facebook come join "Honda Acura AWD Conversions"
@@PirateGarage Do CRV 2004 Axles fit a CRV 1999 Diff or are they diffrent? It nstops about 1 inch from going in flush, Or do I need to muscle it in?

cool vid does this upgrade kit work for other diffs? I have a 93 Integra ZXi 4wd

Nice vidz red! The best, by the way, you think this CR-V differential can fit an Accord? I always wanted a V6 AWD accord, but what year be the best?
Depends on the year, Honda has an AWD accord in Japan, or the accord crosstour in the us
@@PirateGarage yeah, but even in Japan AWD accord are one in a millon, but i like older model, so what year be the best accord to AWD?

its good to see some diy improvement on power transfer on a crv diff. thanks for sharing. my question is that : is there a comparison between your power transfer upgrade vs viscous coupler?
Very different concept
Yes. The last couple of videos show a comparison between the VC and rear CRV differentials
With this upgrade how much power in percent you transfer to rear axle ? What you think, is this can be done on 4th gen CR-V diff ?
So Quick Question, Say I put this in my 03 Cr-V Would I need to Upgrade the Transfer Case or change anything? Or would the Gearing work out?
Hi nice work, I will like to do it on my car, but it's older version 1999-2005, dif and do you think the clutch 2006-2011 version will fit on older dif?
Will that lock up better if you were just using it in a CRV for off road?

- Freelander VC
- pinned clutch pack/pump delete
- GearX LSD

We already put both on the same Dyno, but if you mean on the street Tim is not ready for reds car. And Tim doesn't have a rear lsd only red
Nice bro
Good info.... by doing these upgrades to the crv diff do you still need to use a viscus coupler??
No this is so you don't have to
@@PirateGarage can I use the b series awd transmission with this dif

Yes it was 40% at the power level I was at, when the car wasn't under power the Dyno was reading 50/50, msg me on Instagram @gravy_built
What about the oil that was spilled when you were working on the pump ashembly? You dont refill any, right? Also thank you for this vid and tell us where we can buy the upgrade parts

If you had a 08 Honda Element EX what upgrade what you do to not get stuck
You said don't use the diff from an Element. I thought they were the same. What's the difference?
No info in description... how to get this upgrade components?
No need to pin clutch pack?
Hi, does this kit fit the 2006 crv? If so where can I order this from? Great video by the way

Yes. Fit my 05
Hi, is possible to install the transmission clutch into the rear clutch pack ? It is hard to find here in my location
Where can I purchase this upgrade from?
Would a clutch pack delete work with this upgrade in the newer style dual pump assembly of the honda rear diffs? I just thought with this power transfer upgrade and the clutch pack delete would make the rear diff instantly engage.
No the delete makes this mod irrelevant, you do the delete to use a viscous coupler
I didn’t see your info in the description, I would like to contact you on buying a modded diff from you
Can u tell me the k frame and year cars u use to make this work
I got a 2001 crv kseries u thing that what u did on this diff hold 450+ hp?

More flow allows the pressure to build faster as I understand it.
Are newer years compatible with that 2004 crv
Where can you get the clutches
Is this your only RUclips account ?
What’s the best year crv diff ??
Can this go on a 2002 cr-v?

Yes refer to an older video

No
@@PirateGarage when you get into honda's ?
When ingot my em2 in 2001

Depends on the direction you want to go
Pirate Garage I mainly drag race my cars, trying to get atleast 70/30 to the wheels. Lmk what you think, I’m all about supporting something that works
Well on an AWD roller Dyno I was seeing 155hp going to the rear
Pirate Garage with was it with nothing else but just the PTU upgrade on the 6-11 rear diff?
Yes that's all I did to get that power transfer
How much for the spring bushing kit?

Can you still shim first gen crv clutch pack?
Not worth the effort the later ones are so much better
@@PirateGarage for those of us with first gen diffs installed it could be worth it over sourcing a new one to modify is why I ask.
The newer diffs are cheap they can be had from a local junkyard for $100

Not able to use 2004 crv diff ?
No point in using the old diffs no ramp assembly
Do not drill anything is yalls diffs.
