      @@dojoswitzer Unchained Melody:
"Unchained Melody" is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the prison film Unchained (1955), ...
Alex North (born Isadore Soifer, December 4, 1910 - September 8, 1991) was an American composer best known for his many film scores, including A Streetcar Named Desire (one of the first jazz-based film scores), Viva Zapata!, Spartacus, Cleopatra, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?[1] He received fifteen Academy Award nominations for his work as a composer; while he did not win for any of his nominations, he received an Honorary Academy Award in 1986, the first for a composer.
He wrote the music for Unchained Melody as the theme for the prison film Unchained (1955), It has become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, with over 1,500 recordings made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.
First theatrical release was by Todd Duncan (January 19, 1955) and then by Liberace (February 21, 1955)
I was a Righteous Brothers fan, but they should not have messed with this classic. My personal opinion is that Bobby Hatfield destroyed Unchained Melody. Todd Duncan sang this classic in a movie in 1955. (Angelina's version is truly a MASTERPIECE)

Ken, at the end of a rehearsal with KORK for this performance, a video showed Angelina immediately walking over to her grandmother Mery and asking her what she thought of the ending. I got the impression from her voice and body language that she was trying it out and needed to decide if she should go with it or try a more conventional ending.
Unfortunately, a stage person came up and asked her a question so we didn't see Mery's response.
Fortunately, she stuck with perhaps the most sublime ending I have ever heard in a song.

I thought "Unchained Melody" was a odd choice for this event, but have since learned the history of the song. More on that later.
Certainly Angelina was thrilled to be performing back in her home country of Norway, where she is a national treasure, but this performance goes way beyond that honor. She first performed at the Save the Children event at the 2014 Peace Prize event, when she was 8 years old.
Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges was, at the time of this tribute, on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian.
We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change.
In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
"Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

YES, the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE is given in Oslo Norway, most of the others are in Stockholm Sweden. It was clear, that for this, the National Treasure of Norway, AJ, had to perform, she also is part iranian (Grandma Mery) and she arranged the whole performance with the conductor of KORK. She is like a national hero in Norway, hence the title of national treasure.
    Sir, be safe and sound.

Tis spng was sung to the children of the recipient Iranian Narges Mohammand, incarcerated in Iran for 31 years and 154 whiplashes, because she dared to advocate women´s rights in a totalitarian tyranny. So AJ did this song VERY soft, representing Narges, singing to her family. In Las Vegas on February 29th 2024 she put the mufflers away and brought the audience to their feet.

Great reaction, Ken. Angelina was 17 years old here, singing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert, for the winner, Narges Mohammadi. Narges is an Iranian women's rights advocate and has been imprisoned for many years, in addition to receiving 130 lashes. Narges has s twin daughter and son, the same age as Angelina, and she hasn't seen them in many years either. They are now living with their uncle in France. They were sitting just a few meters away from Angelina during the performance, and it must have been quite emotional for both them and Angelina. You can see Angelina turning toward them at the very end of the performance, touching her heart. Angelina's biggest inspiration in life is her grandmother Mary Zamani, who is Iranian just like Narges. You have to think that Angelina and her grandmother must have been discussing these matters a lot, and that this performance meant a lot to Angelina, her grandmother, and to the entire family as well. Also, considering what the lyrics is describing, you will see that the song she chose couldn't have been much more appropriate. And the same can be said about the way she performed the song. The setting called for an elegant and dignified performance, and that's just what they got from this 17 year old girl 🙂
This was Angelina's 2nd time performing on a Nobel Peace Price concert, the first one happened when she was 8. In interviews from Angelina was very young (just after she'd won Norway's Got Talent at age 8), she has said that one of her biggest dreams was to perform on the concert. We may call this a dream come double true. This also made Angelina the first artist ever to perform twice before the age of 18.
Take care, Ken! Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Narges Mohammadi's children, the twins Kiana and Ali Rahmani, came to Norway (!) and received the Peace Prize at Oslo City Hall on behalf of their mother. The ceremony was held Sunday 10.th of December 2023.
The next day, Monday 11.th of December, there was held "A tribute to Narges Mohammadi" not a full blown Peace Price Concert like previous years. This event was held in one of the NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) studios with an audience. There were interviews with members of Narges' family and there were artists with some kind of connection to Iran performing, Angelina Jordan being one them.
Narges children Kiana and Ali Rahmani, her husband Taghi Rahmani and also her brother Hamidreza Mohammadi were present on this occasion and sitting on the stage, close to the artists and the orchestra (KORK)

If you take the time to read this you will truly understand that AJ is the most extraordinary storyteller of our lifetime.
Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2023
Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway) I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare-a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being.

They kept this subdued because of the occasion! Yes Norwegian TV. Angelina (17) and KORK(Norwegian Radio Orchestra) did a magnificent rendition of Unchained Melody! The perfect song for Narges Mohammadi Nobel Peace Prize! And let’s not forget Angelina’s Iranian heritage and Oslo is her hometown! Third time with KORK, she did Back to Black and Summertime when she was 10! Has been invited twice to Nobel Peace Prize, previously appeared when she was eight! She has brought grace and elegance back to the stage! Narges is in jail for leading the fight for women’s rights in Iran! At the end Angelina puts her hand over her heart acknowledging Narges children who were on stage and happen to be Angelina’s age and are living in exile in France! Remember that she was codified a National Treasure of Norway by the King and Prime Minister when she was eight years old!

Wonderful reaction Ken. The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony. This performance of her is fascinating and wonderfully intimate, she reinterpreted this legendary song and adapted it perfectly to the emotion of the homage to the painful story of Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and wonderful. Isn't necessary the reaction, but only for great plaisure of listen 💛🧡❤
Reaction is not mandatory, but listen even just for your own pleasure to the wonderful jazz version she just released, together with Toby Gad, of her latest original "Bad Valentine", it is simply an unreal interpretation for its beauty.

AJ has performed with the KORK Orchestra on many occasions.
Angelina Jordan's collaborations with the KORK Orchestra have showcased her remarkable talent and leadership in music. Her hands-on approach in co-arranging performances with the orchestra leader and her insistence on being in charge reflect her dedication to her art. The public rehearsals offer a transparent view into the creative process, highlighting the meticulous work that goes into each performance. Jordan's commitment to perfect pitch is crucial, as it ensures the highest quality of musical experience, especially for those with a keen sense of hearing who can detect even the slightest distortion. Her latest original song, Bad Valentine, has several different versions (live, studio & music video). Even though each version is unique with different backing, they are somewhat similar. That is until a few days ago where she totally re-imagined it by slowing the tempo, changing the phrasing & making it a jazz Masterpiece. She has totally re-imagined other people's songs from the past, like Michael Jackson's Billy Jean, or Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, but this is the 1st time she has done it to her own song. It's like 2 different songs with the same lyrics. Here is the link. ruclips.net/video/6Ln9Tajsuzk/видео.html

Your observations were so spot on for a first time reaction. In her two live performances of this in Las Vegas and Glendale, Angelina used the KORK ochestra recording as a backing track. The only live instruments in those performances were the addition of Fench Horn, violin, guitar, playing the arpeggios and symbols. This highlighted parts of the arrangement beyond her beautiful singing. The violin quoting Cannon in D and the dignity of the French Horn sound really add to the sensitivity of her interpretation of this beautiful song.❤

    • @robertpalmer9831
      @robertpalmer9831 Месяц назад

@kokomo281 Actually the drum mix in general was too loud for the entire concert. On many tunes they were more like a hard rock band mix and made it difficult to hear the vocalists and soloist. A little bit of kick drum goes a long way. They overdid it. I know they are going for a younger audience but nuance is needed. I hear this often when jazz bands meet a house sound engineer geared more towards rock or hip hop acts. The bass often gets mixed too loud as well.
When I mic and mix for my jazz band, I try to go for a natural accoustic sound on the drums, a clear articulation on the ride symbol and high hat and a muted sound on the kick drum since is used just for accents and not a throbbing rhythm. The bass EQ'D high pass with little sustain so that actual pitch of the note can be heard since it defines the harmony for the rhythm section. In hard rock and hip hop, it is the exact opposite; it is so heavy and sustained that it is hard to identify pitch. Each note is heard as a rumble, and harmony becomes secondary. It is no accident that these arrangements are called "beats". The notes become indistinguishable from the sound of a rattling old car playing modern "music" while sitting at a red light. The same car usually has it's exhaust system modified to sound like a chain saw. Welcome to today's musical culture.😅

Great reaction, Ken!!!!! Ken, she converted the song from a romantic love song to a song of separated love. The Nobel Peace Prize Award was awarded to an Iranian woman currently in an Iranian prison because she spoke out about the rights of women. She is the mother of twin children (a boy and a girl) and with her husband they now live in France. The children were at the Ceremony and were sitting right in front of Angelina during her performance. As you might have known Angelina's grandma (Mery) is Iranian. And the Ceremony is in Oslo which is also the birthplace of Angelina. The Kork Orchestra is recognized as Norway's finest orchestra and Angelina had sang in front of them on other occasions. At one point the Iranian government considered releasing Narges Mohammadi from prison but with one condition, to stop speaking out about women's rights in Iran. She met with her family and told them about her possibility of being released but she reminded them how strongly she felt about the issues women face in Iran and said she could not agree to those conditions. Therefore, she remains in prison. Ken, after you've read this please play it again understanding the story behind the song.

Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here in December 2023 at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing this beautiful version of Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Hello Ken..actually Angelina is conveying the anguish of separation rather than romantic love in this performance..others have filled you in that she’s singing to the twins in the audience of Narges Mohammadi that years Nobel Peace Prize Winner who is imprisoned in Iran for fighting for better rights for women in Iran..reconsider the lyrics through that perspective and the meaning of the song is utterly changed from the modern romantic interpretation back to the original meaning from the film Unchained Melody.

I’m not sure if an album with a full orchestra is in the near future . Some fans are asking for a full jazz album too. Those types of ventures may come some day but I think she first wants to and needs to establish her career. She is still relatively unknown to the general public. She already has many unreleased songs, either already recorded and also some that have only been performed live. I think once she has finally broken out she may someday create albums of different styles, like Linda Ronstadt did. Those types of albums might satisfy the desires of some fans but may not advance her career at this point beyond the current fan base.

I love the tender way Angelina pitches this song about longing for a loved one while being incarcerated toward the situation of the Nobel honoree, Narges Mohammedi, jailed for her heroic resistance to Iran's oppression of women. Angelina's vocal range and nuances of ornamentation are a fitting tribute to this brave woman. I love hearing Angelina's newly unleashed high notes! She's continuing to explore them in her newest release, the jazzy ballad version of her song with Toby Gad, Bad Valentine.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RUclips. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RUclips went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a RUclips video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on RUclips. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RUclips, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go". On July 23th she released her orginal EP “Old Enough”.
Angelina perform Concert at the Music Hall in Portsmouth New Hampshire on Sept 22nd, 2023. On 10/27/23 she released her new orginal singiel “Our Time”. In November 2023, she was presented as a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris. On 12/08/23 she released new Marry Christmas EP “Driving Home for Christmas”. On 12/10/23 she sing in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration - Unchained Melody tribute to 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi. On february 29, 2024 she had two concerts in Las Vegas, Nevada,on the Elvis stage.
On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. It seems that Tobi has started cooperation with Angelina and there are several joint songs in the pipeline. At the May concert in Los Angeles, one of them was presented: BAD VALENTINE.
Angelina perform Concert at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA on Sept. 20th, 2024. On the same day she released her new orginal singiel in cooperation with Tobi Gad Bad Valentine.

'The Gold Standard' for this song and deservedly so. However, in this performance, Angelina
exhibits a much more emotion laden, penetrating rendition than Bobby's and is considered by me
to be 'The Platinum Standard' for the song.

    AJ’s Vibrato:
Angelina Jordan's vibrato is indeed remarkable, often described as soulful and mature beyond her years. Her ability to control the vibrato, a technique where the pitch of the note varies in a pulsating manner, adds a unique texture and emotional depth to her performances. This technique is not easily mastered, especially at a young age, making her talent all the more impressive. Her renditions of classic songs have been praised for their originality and emotional resonance, which is greatly enhanced by her distinctive vibrato.

Angelina certainly seems like she’s got twenty years under her belt. Strange thing is… she’s only eighteen years old. Angelina HAS been singing her entire life (or nearly - she started around 1-1/2 years old) but her “career” started at seven when she tried out for Norway’s Got Talent.
Wonderful reaction! I hope you can react to her newest music soon. Angelina’s most recent version of her original “Bad Valentine” (co-written by Toby Gad) might actually surpass THIS performance in beauty! 😳
It is the most mature, jazz infused music to date and it is unimaginably good. It currently is available as an audio-only track. Here’s the link: 🎶💙👣

    Unchained Melody
Unchained Melody is a timeless song that has captivated generations of listeners with its haunting melody and poignant lyrics. The song was composed by Alex North, a prolific and versatile composer who created memorable scores for many films, such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Spartacus, and Cleopatra. He wrote the song as the theme for the 1955 film Unchained, which tells the story of a prisoner who longs for his wife and hopes for parole. The song was first performed by Todd Duncan, who played the lead role in the film, and released in 1955 by Al Hibler and Liberace, who popularized it on his television show. The song has been recorded by hundreds of artists in various styles and languages, but perhaps the most famous version is the one by The Righteous Brothers, who released it in 1965 as a single. Their rendition features Bobby Hatfield's soaring vocals and a lush orchestral arrangement that adds drama and intensity to the song. The Righteous Brothers' version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the most successful pop songs of all time. It was also featured in the 1990 film Ghost, starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, which revived its popularity and introduced it to a new generation of fans. However, not everyone appreciates The Righteous Brothers' version of Unchained Melody. Some critics argue that they changed the original mood and meaning of the song, which was more subtle and restrained. They also point out that there are other versions that are more faithful to the composer's vision and more expressive of the song's emotions. For example, Al Hibler gave a powerful performance that conveyed the pain and longing of the prisoner. Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, and John Gary also recorded beautiful versions that showcased their vocal talents and captured the essence of the song. One of the most recent and remarkable versions of Unchained Melody is by Angelina Jordan, a young and talented singer who has amazed audiences with her unique voice and style from the age of 7 to now 17. She performed the song at her concert in Portsmouth, NH on September 22, 2023, and gave it a fresh and original twist. She rearranged the song to suit her own interpretation and added elements of jazz, soul, and blues to create a stunning rendition that mesmerized the crowd. She sang with passion and grace and delivered every note with precision and emotion. She proved that Unchained Melody is a timeless song that can be reinvented and reimagined by different artists.

Perfect example of her not letting her singing get in the way of her storytelling.

Hey Ken, you unintentionally had me laugh, when at the end of her song you summed it up with "wowie-zowie" which suddenly injected a good dose of Zappa into my neuromancing brain cells, which were caught completely off guard by that, still trying to process AJ's incredible delivery of this song and the French horns...What a bold contrast of two so completely different musical geniuses...
Anyway, enjoyed your reaction very much, thanks a lot! And let me please use the occasion to mention I can't wait for your second reaction to RAYE, whatever song it'll be, for me she never misses... Not for a reaction, but for your attention: Today I discovered a very interesting video by The Rolling Stone, featuring RAYE on the topic of the creative process behind her No. 1 UK hit "Escapism". She not only talks about the song and the backstory, but also explains and demonstrates a lot of things she did in the studio, and she improvises on both piano and vocals, a really fascinating video... but of course that would be a spoiler for the actual song, so you should not watch it until you reacted to that, but once you did, you'd utterly enjoy watching that "breakdown" thing, might even be worth a seperate reaction, or you just watch it as a treat on your own once you've reacted to the video... will give you some great insights into not only her creative process, but also her endearing personality...
    Peace and love from Bavaria!

This is in Oslo, Norway .. incidentally Angelina's birth city with the KORK - Norwegian Radio Orchestra. Narges Mohammadi's children, twin boy and girl also 17 years old were right in front .. that is who Angelina placed her hand over her heart at the end for. Ms Mohamadi is rotting in prison .. placed there by the vile creatures that run Iran. Remember, this song was written for the movie "Unchained" .. men in prison .. longing for a loved one. Fits.
She auditioned for Norway's Got Talent at age 7 .. won at age 8. There is a clip of her singing a bit of Whitney at 1-1/2 years.

Angelina drop a music video to her new song “Bad Valentine” which was a pop song, in collaboration with Toby Gad, then two weeks later she and Toby completely reimagined the song as a 40’s Jazz song, same lyrics. They are both great songs but the Jazz one is just the best ever. She is truly magical when she sings Jazz. No video yet on the Jazz version but it dose not matter still the best.

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 If you review James Thiel's version it includes the background story of this event which makes the way she sings this more understandable. This was very personal for her and her family due to her family having roots in Iran. The honored recipient was an Iranian journalist who is imprisoned there. That person's children were sitting right in front of Angelina. The song is about a person in prison longing to be with their family.
