Ive had similar bad experiences with KIA. Have a 2013 RIO to this day. Had numerous warranty claims over the years (convinced it was caused by dealer itself) including central locking, clock spring, sunroof switch, wiper motor, wiper pump etc. last service with KIA, the car developed a misfire 2 weeks after service. Took it to BOSCH and turned out that the spark plugs had not been replaced for 170 000km. This for a car that was serviced with a dealer every 15000km. Their after sales service is really bad. Currently dealing with aircon issues, 3 of 4 door locks are bad and have to be replaced, 2nd boot lid switch have to be replaced and no option to replace it. Will also never buy KIA again…
That’s true. Although one day we took the Hyundai for servicing, they didn’t request for the service book, they only asked for it when they were returning the car 🤔

How often was the Kia driven and how long was it left standing before you took ownership? If it is not driven often or only short trips, or has been left standing for a long period of time that can be bad for the engine. The oil can thicken and parts that should be frequently lubricated can lose their lubrication making it seem as if the car was not maintained.
Honestly guys we all have bad experiences from some brand or service provider and then there are many who never experienced issues with them. It’s like insurance, there are those who hate a certain insurer and there are those who absolutely love it. Some people experience the worst service with some of these renowned car brands and there are those who have no complaints. All I’m trying to say is sometimes you’re just unlucky. Sorry this happened to you though.
In all honesty, some cars are not meant to be fixed. In South Africa, it is common practice to try to fix old cars that are no longer covered by warranties or motor plans when they are nearing the end of their useful lives. But, not all cars are meant to be fixed; some must be sent to a crusher and replaced with new ones. The cars that need repairs are the ones that are in high demand, and appreciate or maintain their value over time. Also vintage cars from the 1940s, American muscle cars, which are still in demand today due to their V8 engines and high performance. To name a few, it includes your high-end luxury cars such as your Porsche 911, Ford Mustang, G63 AMG, and some Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or Toyota. Aso, other low-cost classics like the Chev Camaro, Hilux, Ford Cortina, Volkswagen Beetle, even a Nissan HardBody, are still in demand and their value stays the same over time depending on the condition of the car. You'll be surprised to learn that there are no street mechanics in Japan because, like in America and many other countries, cars are typically sent to a crusher once their warranties or motor plans expire. But, in South Africa, you might spot a Zimbabwean repairing a Chev Cruze under a tree or someone looking for parts to fix a Kia Picanto or other plastic car. Certain cars were never intended to be repaired; once dismantled, they cannot be rebuilt or their parts will never be available for purchase. Kia, GWM, Hyundai, and many Chinese brands, were designed to be recycled after a certain number of kilometers. There's no need trying to fix them, and you'll think your dealership is dishonest, but they won't tell you straight to your face to take your car to a scrapyard or dumping site.
Hai at this point you'll always change cars sisi. Just get a used BMW from a BMW dealer. you should have returned that 420i for a more affordable car. there's always that used car like 120i, 318, 128, 120d, 320d you would down graded to.
Yes. Hyundai & KIA vehicles are a big no-no buying them second-hand (they are notorious for being unreliable!!). To be safe, buy only JAPANESE cars Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, etc. & also stay away from AUTOMATIC cars when buying second-hand cars.
Guys let’s normalise at least doing our own oil and oil filter changes if your car it’s out of warranty and if still in warranty let’s learn to physically check what work the car dealership has done. Another important thing s to ask for all the parts that was replaced. Any workshop that doesn’t agree to give you the old parts back just walk away. All dealerships are crooks especially when you are not firm plus you are a woman. The moral of the story is that car dealerships are in the business of selling cars not making your car last forever and mechanics are in the business of fixing cars not making the workmanship last forever, otherwise they will all run out of business moes. Thobela, ke senya ke re yalo
I feel like the guy who told you the car was not being serviced actually lied to you my sister. That's a very serious accusation that if it was true i would say challenge KIA then coz your parents actually paid for the service plans, right?
Cars under a service plan don't get serviced because the dealership does not make money!!!If you want your car to last long you need to pay from your pocket ,in that case the dealership actually does the job because they get their money on the spot!
i get that the car was out of warranty, what i am asking you to challenge is the fact that the car had never been serviced because remember you paid for the service upfront, rather your parents did in the initial price of the car...
I bought a new venue 2021 DCL. The car is vibrating at take off. Took it for assessment and was told that dual clutch cars vibrate. So im used to that vibration now
In the US, Kia’s have a bad reputation for reliability. I don’t know the details, but I have been watching mechanics videos from the US, and that is a comment that comes up often.
To answer your question, Kia/Hyundais from 2009 - 2016 were bullet proof, drove a Kia Rio for 11 years, 243 000 kms now, no problems at all. These are some of the most reliable and cheap maintenance brands. The dealership simply ripped your parents off, which is what they do to women and a lot of people who do not know much about cars. Better to find an independent mechanic you trust to maintain your car. A lot of technicians who work for Kia/Hyundai do side hustles and will easily maintain your car at a reasonable price. However, Kia Optimas and Hyundai Sonatas with the 2.4 GDI engines do become problematic at a certain stage due to direct injection, the tend to wear quickly due to excessive friction.
The problem is not the car, the problem is the dealerships. The mechanics will always find the most expensive solution to fix your car. And they are not very resourceful.
Kia and Hyundai are generally low quality cars that don't last long. That's why they are generally cheaper than other cars. The money you save in buying them at a lower price than other cars will be spent on maintenance and repair. Toyota is generally the most durable cars, followed by Nissan and Volkswagen. Most of my friends who drive any of these three cars don't have problems.
I disagree, i bought a brand new Hyundai i20, drove it for 13 years to about 300 000 km , The most reliable used cars to buy are, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Corolla , Hyundai i20 , Honda Jazz, Ford fiesta.
@@nompiloangelmakamo5414 This comment is not really clear, as it contains two opposing truth. Yes, when they say a car is not reliable, they are not saying everyone that buys the car are going to have the same bad experience. They are talking about the majority. There are many people that bought Hyundai and Kia that used them up to 13 years and more. Sometimes, the durability of unreliable cars depends on the maintenance culture and driving behaviors of owners. However, most cars you mentioned (i.e., Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Corolla, Honda) generally have a track record of durability all over the world. I still have my Toyota Corolla 1997 that I bought in 1996. I still drive it till today. Nothing has ever happened to its engine. I'll be going out in an hour and that's the car I drive. In fact, if I'm buying a new I won't buy any other car than Toyota or Volkswagen Polo, because they are durable and reliable. I have a lot of friends who drive Toyota cars and they never complain about them. Google the most reliable cars in the world and you will find Toyota to be top on the list. You'll also find Volkswagen and Nissan on the list. This is not a matter of opinion, this is a matter of fact.
Currently I am driving 2019 kia sportage at 90 000 km without any problem. I think before you buy a car research and get more information frm car mechanics is very important. And get second opinion from other dealers or mechanics if your car gives you problem.

Let this be last time you make a video without doing research. There is a difference between service and maintenance. If you ignore recommended maintenance like drive belts your car will breakdown. Why would We buy cars take a spare when the ignition and engine has been changed?
My sister next never take the car to the original dealership they are bunch of ripoffs and the charge a lot of money for the service they didn't do and some are taking advantage because you're woman they think you know nothing about car, next time use Bosch car service they're reliable.

My experience with a polo 2008 was as your with that optima, 60000km, steering rack R27000, power windows R6500, 9months later steering rack again, central locking issues. Will never in my life buy any vw product. Be sure to always check items billed, pull stick at the garage when collecting check if oil level is ok and clean, i promise you, i will not name, but we have had 2 cars serviced at the same dealer in the past that did NOT SERVICE ANY OF the two cars other than washing them.
This accountant is entertaining guys
Lol 😅😅😅😅
True
😂
😂
I drove Hyundai i30, from 2012 to 2018, l never had issues, what a reliable car, then l moved to BMW, that's when I started experiencing problems.
Thanks for sharing this … we keep learning ❤️
And I love Hyundai so much😢
Hai at this point you'll always change cars sisi.
Yeah il take note of this when I want to buy a car for keeps ❤️
O kwagetše.
Been driving Hyundai from 60 n currently at 300 K
cars just need to be serviced and you'll have issues. My car is 10 years old and over 115k automatic and never had issues.
That’s great. Which Hyundai is it?
@@xireninsights Grand i10
Kia optima are nightmares.. Mine blow the engine while driving, I had to rebuild the engine and I sold it afterward. Not a fan of Kia anymore
Some Kia’s are good… just the optima I guess 😅
😂😂😂 I thought I was the only 1 who had horrible experience with OPTIMA KIA yooooooh 😂😂😂😂😂 ...
I feel like the guy who told you the car was not being serviced actually lied to you my sister. That's a very serious accusation that if it was true i would say challenge KIA then coz your parents actually paid for the service plans, right?
Yes they had a service plan. Didn’t think of challenging kia because the car was already out of warranty 🤷🏿♀️
Kia and Hyundai are top ten in terms of reliability. I have driven a Kia Cerato Koup 2011 model and Kia Cerato Koup 2016 with no problems
Nice to hear. Are they manual or automatic?
What was wrong with the engine to begin with?
I bought a new venue 2021 DCL. The car is vibrating at take off. Took it for assessment and was told that dual clutch cars vibrate. So im used to that vibration now
I don't think that's normal. I don't think a new car should vibrate like that.
In the US, Kia’s have a bad reputation for reliability. I don’t know the details, but I have been watching mechanics videos from the US, and that is a comment that comes up often.
Yoooh.. guys if you have a car and gives you problems, throw it away. Don’t make it somebody else’s nightmare 💔
Very helpful comment.
Maybe you’re right ❤️
Hi where did u buy the engine
Currently I am driving 2019 kia sportage at 90 000 km without any problem. I think before you buy a car research and get more information frm car mechanics is very important. And get second opinion from other dealers or mechanics if your car gives you problem.
You’re so right ❤️
Why would they not want the spare key. Something Smelling.
I like how you say 'Kea' not "Kia" sounds like my ex from Pampierstad 😂
😂😂😂😂
OK something is not making sense kengok, how many cars do you actually return? 1st was the BMW 4 series... Now Kia?
BMW I had to return because of affordability in 2019. 2021 my mom gave me her fully paid up car but I had to sell it since it was problematic. So it’s 2 cars so far 😅
Your issue to me sounds like a Dealer/Branch issue and not brand, i say this cause iv had a Kia Rio 1.4 (2012) since 2014 - 2024, it was on 234000km’s wen i let go of it this year, but have never had an issue with service or the car itself….😉
The insurance didn’t write off the car when it first broke down?
Insurance doesn't cover mechanical issues..
If you are using your car, you need to service it after every 15000km not once every year
I went through similar painful experience with my Hyundai i30😢😢. 5 years I haven't recovered from that great trauma n depression. I will never buy Korean car again. Korean cars are false marketed as reliable but they are not reliable cars.
Why do you do this. Legit question?
I know i came to your platform but I'm curious of your approach and end goal for all these.
I’m just sharing my experience while getting ad revenue 😅 plus I also get to learn from other people through their comments and also hope that some people will stick around to watch my educational content 😊
@xireninsights I gotchu 🤝
Kia/Hyundai sme models are bad. Worse if you drive CVVT gearbox. Its not reliable
To my Good knowledge kia and Hyundai are in top4 reliable brand though automatics any vs manual cars in general are very delicate cars in terms of ware and tear or service no lie about that1, its so sad to hear you losing your inherited car i wish you had a trusted male representative 'when it comes to cars, clearly youve been taken for a ride as a female as i listened to your story askiess 😯everything just went south from the onset
True 😔
You are in a toxic relationship with cars 😂😭😭
😂😂🤣
Seems u are unlucky with cars….u should try bikes
Kia, Tata & Hyundai is rubbish cars poor Customer Services...we bought brand new I20 Hyundai at 20000,km the engin blocked cracked Hyundai never offer a courtesy vehicle while the car was in repairs for a new engine under warranty so I will never buy any of those cars again
Kia and i20 are like that once it hits almost 80thousand kilos they break, my first car was i20, had to sell it
Eish… I thought that maybe i20 is more reliable… but also had a friend who was forced to sell hers.
Having that problem now kia optima 😢
Run away.
You don't understand cars at all😂😂😂 just buy a Toyota
SECOND HAND ENGINE IS NEVER GOOD THE MILADGE COULD HIGHER THAN THE FACTORY ENGINE
Kia and Hyundai and South Korean, they are not know for great reliability. German and Japanese cars the best. Everything else is rubbish in my opinion
Before buying are car ask yourself have I ever seen this old beat up car from this brand. I sure you’ve seen a lot of old VW, Toyota, BMW etc. Renault and Kia no no
Period.
Kia Optima has a reputation of being unreliable😢😢
So we buy cars used the same theory ur car has spray paint
You cant be "optimistic " abiut car's abd reliable mechanic these days
It seems like u always have issues with cars 🤔
You returned bmw and now it is a kia. Wow, sounds like a good lies
They do checks and only change oil😂😂😂🎉
Maybe auto cars are the problem 🤔
That's salesman for you
So Kia and Hyundai are sister companies (same thing) like VW and Audi. I used to drive a Kia Optima the GDI. Best car I have ever owned. No problems at all.
I own a Hyundai H-1 now and it has also been good. Both autos
Nice to hear ❤️
HI MY GIRL , AM NOT HAPPY WHAT PRROBLEM YOU HAD , AM A MECHANIC FOR 51 YEARS , EVEN THE 40000 PLUS IS MADNESS YOU SHOULD KNOW ME BEFORE , I THINK , I WOULD DONE THAT JOB FOR AROUND30000😭😡🤠😱😠
I should keep you on speed dial 😄
Nxase Kgaetšedi.
Kia and hyundai is crap! Ripoffs , to be honest these chinese brands are much more reliable and value for money
You always got car issues, perhaps by a boat next
Where is your husband in all this? Dont you have male friends or relatives? It seems you are used to rushing things. No wonder you get ripped off
kia service departments🚮🚮Especially when you are black african
That’s sad 😢
Your qualifications and thinking process as well as conclusions do not align. You say very ridiculous things for a CA, how can you blame the manufacturer for any of these? Think harder and analyse better!
Don't judge a book by its cover
YoH being a CA is tough mus, I’m a human being before my CA title. If I was only relying on my title there’s many risks that I wouldn’t have taken in my life and my would be so boring and miserable.
Lol, women don't understand cars
Very sexist comment
@xireninsights your parents give you good cars then you mess them up
@@xireninsights it's not meant to offend you or any other women but guys generally pay more attention to cars than women, they check oil, coolant, brake fluid, km's for changing timing belt, notice funny sounds from engine which could indicate a problem etc. Most women don't worry or check such things so even if a dealership didn't service properly there's low chances that a woman could pick that up.
Im really not shocked! Some idiots are roaming around with even Chinese brands i knw someone struggling with parts but the car is newish....
