They're probably excellent machines and they would surely save many hours of time. The problem is that the machine is simply TOO EXPENSIVE except for principal oboists in leading orchestras.
@@scherzo_FLI I recently succumbed to the urge and bought the RnS profiler. MAGNIFICENT!! All I can say is: don't hesitate. Take the plunge and get one. You will NOT regret it. These devices are well-built and greatly increase the percentage of near-perfect reeds in less time that you'd ever imagined possible.
@@scherzo_FLI I studied oboe in Germany, so like many other Europeans, I play a Marigaux 901 and use the 901 template. It's perfect. The resulting tone is warm, round, smooth. My ideal tone is that produced by Celine Moinet, so slowly but surely, I'm getting there :), though I'll never be up to her incredible standards.

Witch template has dark and smoth sound ? Lory is good for that ?
We recommend 901, but it also depends on other variables of the oboe cane and the shaper, not just the template.
