  • This video shows me trimming a horses hooves and applying glue-on shoes. The shoes used in this video are called EasyCare Versa Grip Lites. To attach them I heat welded Easycare tabs to the shoes. The shoes are attached to the hoof wall with Cyanoacrylate glue (A fancy word for commercial grade super glue 🤪.).
    This horse is owned by a friend of mine who is a certified barefoot trimmer and she does a lovely job maintaining and improving the hooves of the horses in her care. She has not used the version of this shoe in this video and we thought it would be a good fit for her horse that was going to be out of state for a bit. Otherwise this horse lives her life barefoot.
    I hope you enjoy the video! If you do please give It a thumbs up to help it spread to more viewers. If you found the video helpful, educational, or entertaining and would like to see more content please subscribe to the channel ❤️🙏🏻.

    Great video. Do you hit the hooves with heatgun or torch to pull out moisture? I am curious about the deantal impression packing, am going to try the easycare soft packing. Have you tried it?
    Thanks

      @@marleeloveridge8851 thank you! I very rarely use a heat gun. I have not used easycares packing material.

    What are the shoes made of?
    Do you use a solvent to remove them?
    The horse version of sneakers?

    • @The_Female_Farrier
      @The_Female_Farrier  Год назад +3

      Great question! They are made out of a polyurethane! The material is actually a similar density to the hoof wall so it allows the hoof capsule to function like it would if the horse was barefoot but with added protection.
      I just cut the base of the tabs, remove the shoe, then peel the tabs off of the hoof wall.
      Yes! I call them Nikes for horses lol.

    Hi!I love your videos, I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched this one. I have a question... what is the mesh insert that is in the shoe? I don't see any kind of product like that on the Easy Care site. Is is necessary to keep the DIM from popping out?

      Hi there! I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos!
      The mesh I used in this horse is actually screen material. If you are going to put DIM under a shoe like this you will need to add something like that to hold it in place. I have used a drywall patch before too. But my favorite is Vettec Mesh. If you can’t find any on their website WellShod definitely sells it on theres. It lasts the longest and is the easiest to work with in my opinion. Easycare has also started making plugs that you can insert in the hole in the bottom of the shoe.

    What did you spray on the hoof after the shoes were glued?

    • @The_Female_Farrier
      @The_Female_Farrier  Год назад +1

      That is an adhesive accelerant!
