Actually, I would be interested in such channel. It could be one where Linus tests devices' durability by dropping them on the floor from a sufficient height, then seeing if they are still working.
Yeah ship it to them they will put it to good use, given how different kind of reviews Linus does for GPUs more mainstream data vs GN in depth analysys
To be fair, a company the size of Nvidia would be beyond stupid to send out skewed/altered measurement tools. It would be a PR nightmare, especially when they have no need to fudge data in order to showcase their hardware when it's already top tier (at this point of 2020). It would be like someone who was already in 1st place going out of their way to cheat and risk getting caught for no reason. Also, GN (like all youtubers) gets more revenue the longer their videos are. So diving into a 30 minute long detailed validation is hardly GN just being super cautious out of pure benevolence. Even if they already knew the tools were 100% valid, they would still spend the full 30 minutes doing unnecessary additional validation just to pad their run times. Nothing against GN, I love a lot of their content, but just saying going absurdly in depth just for the sake of depth isn't always something to be lauded.
@@trapical I agree about the long video gets more revenue thing, but also long videos are harder to produce and requires so much more energy. In the end I just believe that Steve is a crazy guy that just never sleeps or somethig haha.
The Reason JayzTwoCents, Linus, Btwit, etc have way more subscribers than GamerNexus is because GN videos are just too long and boring, he's just like a robot reading a script, then you get 15 minutes of him staring at the camera and talking with no charisma, no puns, no acting, nothing entertaining at all, and then 15 minutes of graphs that you lose interest in after 10 seconds because you can't keep up with all the information at the same time. Maybe is good to watch if the video is about something specific, like a new videocard you just purchased or are about to purchase, and you want to have an objective review and detailed data. But for the rest, it's like being at a boring lecture.
To be fair if nVidia don't release this as a product I'll just make one and send it to him. I hadn't considered it before but it's a really simple device. Four precision shunt resistors and some I2C or SPI power monitor ICs (e.g. INA219) hooked to a microcontroller and FTDI chip. The trickiest part is the PCIe interposer but even that's not overly challenging, especially if you use PCIe flex cables and mount the GPU externally. The software wouldn't be as polished but that's not a big problem.
GN just did a video on the LDAT, I suppose they got sent a PCAT as well. I wonder if Buildzoid could just ask for one, he's high enough profile by now.

@@tj_2701 yeah it would suck for this to be true , but at the same time its not impossible at all.
@@tj_2701 You wouldn't even need to reverse engineer anything for the display measurement though so I don't think they'd do anything with that. The software could tell what card you're running but if you have integrated graphics (or a competing card) plus a 2nd monitor it has no way of knowing what's driving which display.
@@tj_2701 they'd get caught immediately doing that, as anthony said it doesn't even need to be running the software on the same computer that's powering the graphics card, if you're that paranoid then simply plug the USB device that reads the power data into a computer that has an nvidia graphics card and then the software (if it's actually checking) would see that an nvidia graphics card is installed.
@@RWoody1995 Can't they have some simple chip on that bridge between videocard and motherboard? Said chip can collect some header signatures sended to motherboard from BIOS and report them to main controller (the one with display) to decide what to do with that data...

@@4to6months It's a recurring joke he uses.
Gamers Nexus called. He wants his tools back
Yeah ship it to them they will put it to good use, given how different kind of reviews Linus does for GPUs more mainstream data vs GN in depth analysys

"Boom broken arm, thing in your mouth"
That's a phrase no one wants to hear, ever.
Can we trust their tools?
LTT: Yeah, why not?
GN: 30 min video data validation
For those who didn't get the joke fully, the relevant parts about trusting nvidia in the GN video were like 9 minutes only.
There's room for both in this world, and that's what is great.
13:45 can we get a Linus Plays channel where all his commentary is just that

The PCAT seems like something Buildzoid would want.
Probably nothing he doesn't already have by splicing wires to an oscilloscope
Not really. It only detects currency within 100ms, which is far to slow to be Frame-accurate.
when i saw it i thought buildzoid right away.
