Hockey in late June is so silly, and summer in Canada is short. Let's start the season earlier and all enjoy our full summers, like Montreal and Ottawa fans been able to do for a long time
Oilers have nothing to hang their heads about. They played an amazing series and almost pulled out the greatest comeback in cup history. In the end I kind of feel like both teams won as it was such a great series. FL played a defensive masterclass in that final game and after that crushing 3 game lead was blown they didn't fold like a lot of teams might have . Hats off to both teams on such an entertaining amazing series!!!
Why did the Oil play like my kids friends non body contact league? Panthers hit everything that moved. That seemed to spark them. Oil looked lifeless, kinda. I know, I know, skill doesn't need to body, but they missed Kane, Desj (maybe not), Didn't like the 'driveby poke and pray' by countless 3rd/4th line shmoes. Hit someone, you're only making 1m or less. Maybe Knobo made em do that (speed game/positioning) but wow, hard to watch team get outmuscled.
@@MrGamman3yt they didn't do that because that's not their game. They were a much more fluid passing high scoring team which was present in games 4, 5 & 6. They took the Panthers out of their game which is defensive smashmouth hockey. Panthers got their identity back in game 7 and even though it was a one score game if you go back and watch the highlights you see they were pretty much in control the entire game. Oilers kept trying to be the flashy team that won 3 strait games but FL never let them get any rhythm on offense and thus presented a defensive masterclass on how to beat a offense 1st team.
Oilers fans if you’re reading this I want to congratulate you guys on an outstanding season. I doubted you in the regular season and from round 2 onward. You proved me wrong. For years I said I would not be afraid of you in the final but now you have my respect. You’re more than 2 players. You’ll be back here again. You guys are warriors. Panthers fan.
Thank you! I’m sick of ignoramuses calling them a two-player team. Watch them all year and you see how important their depth is. Fantastic final, and congrats on the win Panthers!
Panthers fan here kudos to the Oilers and their fans you gave us a good run for our money and a great final and I truly believe the Oilers will hoist that cup in a very short order. Congratulations Panthers. And thank you to the Oilers and their fans for fantastic final.
Oilers fan here. I disagreed with some Panthers fans online about certain narratives and rhetoric, but as a whole, you guys are a good lot. Great series, and happy for Maurice.
I was not betting on the Oilers to put up such a fight in the last 4 games. Alas, they can now say that they put 8 goals on the Panthers in the finals.
I cry when I think about what NBA and MLB players make. Compared to our guys who can barely afford a one bedroom apartment out by the airport. Baseball game everyone in the stands is on their phones anyway. Texting "Look I'm at the baseball game!!". Well, that's everywhere now.
@@Fredphlegm NBA is better than MLB but that isn't saying much as MLB is only slightly less boring than soccer aka football everywhere else in the world.
Being a DieHard Oilers fan since the beginning of the 90s, this was a treasure to be a part of "to watch." I can honestly say this was the year that will lay the foundation for another 5-7 more years of spectacular playoff hockey from the Oilers. It stings, but there's not much i can do about it as a fan. Im just along for the ride, and it was almost near perfect this year.
As an Oilers fan since the 80s, that 5-7 years started three years ago, and will be lucky to keep it going as long as you hope. HOWEVER, if Leon signs to stay long-term, and some top players take a pay cut to be on a cup contender, we can have more dominant years. The huge Nurse contract needs to be dealt with if we want to load up, and I don’t see that happening without having to retain salary and defeat the purpose. Just imagine if he was less greedy (like Hyman) and the team had an extra million of wiggle room at the deadline…. Could be a very different story today.
Oilers had a big push in the final 10 minutes and they got several good chances out of the McJesus-Drai-Hyman line. Bounces just didn't go their way and Bobrovsky was stellar again.
And 3rd 4th line guys were doing drive by poke and pray like my kids u15 team. Kids don't hit cause they are scared and lazy. What's a pro's excuse? Fla hit everyone and everything. Oil pass, zoom, incoming panther, bang.
I think 06 was worse. At the time I was a pens fan in the middle of 15yrs of losing, and we(my friends group) pick the oilers as our playoff team that year. It was a CRAZY run that ended the same way
Being from Finland this was and is so special. Finnish captain hoisting the Stanley Cup. I really feel for you guys. McDavid was insane and his day will come. All the best!
It's painful for Edmonton but it would have been 1000 times worse for Florida. If they lost they would have both given up a 3-0 lead and lost back-to-back Stanley Cup finals. That would be in the inner circle of all time chokejobs. Edmonton ended up one goal short of the greatest comeback of all time which is actually probably the best way to lose. If you have to lose wouldn't you prefer that to getting swept or blown out in the deciding game? The Oilers died with their boots on. And remember that Gretzky and Crosby both lost their first finals appearance and then won it all the next year. Who says McDavid can't do the same?
@@Layers1456 yes, me too. If they would've lost I doubt the roster in its current incarnation would have recovered. That's why I don't feel too bad about this loss for the Oilers. The Cats had 4 opportunities to close this and finally got it on their fourth. If they hadn't, added with last year's, it would have been devestating for them. Oilers are heartbroken, but very intact as a team with a lot to look forward too.
That was a painful ending to see the seconds dwindle with the puck stuck in the boards. Skinner gave it his all; and so many shots should have went in for the Oilers with Bob down but game 1-3 Bob showed up and displayed insane puck awareness even during the crazy scrambles. Janmark’s goal got the Roger’ Watch Party blowing the roof off but man we couldnt help but think how different it wouldve been even if Bouch Bomb ended up a few inches to the right. Oilers will get their cup soon!
Moving forward (1) Make sure you have home ice in the seventh game. (2) Don’t start with losing the first three games, and you will increase your odds winning the cup.
The similarities between the 2024 Stanley Cup Final game 7 and 2004 Stanley Cup game 7 are very eerie. As a Flames fan it was very painful to see something like this again.
And the fans of the Calgary Flames are officially Canada's Traitors. I am a hater for Toronto, but I hate the Lames even more now after Chuck Roast threw shade on us.
Panthers fans in general have suffered plenty, well the real ones that have been here through a lot of bad. We earned our way to this one. Oilers gave us a run for our money though. Never was I comfortable till it was over
@robertlund5312 Well said. As a Sabres fan living in the GTA in the East rooting for the number one team, the Oilers; thank you for taking good care of my former Sabres, especially our former Captain Kyle Okposo. Also, Bobrovsky giving him the Cup, kudos. The Florida Panthers move up in my list of backup teams in the East
Funny how now that the Panthers won all the haters are very vocal! But when Edm was kicking there ass not damn one of em could talk! People are pathetic! Its a game & just like the hand shake after it, it should end with respect for each other! Oilers 2025!
It did feel like it was Team Canada playing. I'm in Ontario, outside of Ottawa... It want uncommon to find Oilers logos and signs cheering them on on cars, business signs...
It depends where you live. I'm in Toronto, and I didn't see a single Oiler flag. Maybe the odd jersey, but no flags. Right now, most people in Toronto are more consumed with the Euro Cup. Italian , Portuguese, Spanish , English flags everywhere
It's like the Coach Carter ending They are definitely proud, but also pained at the same time 2-1 game for the finals and it was a lot of heart from both teams
Flames fan here. I was initially on the train when they were down 3, that they would join Vancouver and Ottawa in the "Had the potential and blew it HARD" Club, but damn I ate my words hard. I was a believer. This is heart breaking. They fought bitterly to the end. They lost, but it was a battle to the finish, that didn't end the way we wished
@@kenshiroFNS one time? dude had like 3 shots all series and the one goal he scored probably should have been saved? He was the definition of a non factor the entire series just like Tkachuck
I’m so proud of my team. Expected to be cup favourites at the beginning of the season, only to have a very disappointing start to the season. Then we started to get on a roll. We had a 16 game winning streak that often got discredited because some of the teams we played against weren’t very good. We were favourites in the first two rounds of the playoffs, but many said we would get walked over by Dallas. After falling down 0-3 to Florida, a lot of people wrote the Oilers off. To push this series to a game 7 was absolutely remarkable. The city of Edmonton was so lively during the past few months and this run will be remembered for a long time.
Theres so many oilers haters that said they were gonna get swept by Dallas, then they said they were gonna get swept by Florida. I think this team proved a lot of people wrong and showed it's not just a McDavid show. It would have been nice to see the comeback but the Panthers deserved that cup, they were there last year and they were definitely the best team in the league this year. Happy for Maurice and Bobrovsky. Oilers are gonna be cup contenders again next year.
Not with Nurse's contract and Drai having a contract year. Next season is a foreboding time for Oilers fans. For all we know, Pasta wants Leon to come play in Boston. If he goes to the US, there's a VERY high chance that Connor says "fuck this, I'm gone" and demands out of Deadmonton.
Apparently McDavid is likely gonna require surgery to fix an abdominal injury that he was playing through. Drai had a broken rib and finger. It's not an excuse, but it sucks when there are injuries that limit what you can do. Though I'm sure Florida had a ton of their own injuries to key players. That's playoff hockey.
From 31st in the standings a month into the season, to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. I'm proud of the boys. I never thought they'd get this far at any point in 2023, and even most of this year.
If the Canucks were in the place of Edmonton, boeser, demko, and pettersson possibly coming out of his slump, it would be interesting to see how a Canucks vs panthers finals catchup would've been
They had problems with Nashville. Then they were up 3-2 against a team they went 4-0 against in the regular season and then played hooky instead of hockey for games 6 and 7. Florida would have smoked them and OEL would have laughed.
Edmonton put up a good fight, but it raises a lot of questions about what could've been if some better roster decisions had been made in the last few years leading up to this moment.
@3k461 the lack of defense beyond the first pairing and depth offensive production is this team's problem. The depth specifically is why McDavid played 4 of the last 5 minutes. A well constructed team should never put your best player in that position
@@KVGKQuakeexcept our forwards have been performing, bot 6 as well, and mcdavid only played that much cus he’s mcdavid, sure getting another great forward or 2 would help, but more elite defense is needed more rn
People that do nothing but hate, really bearing their ugly souls. This playoff was incredible, and both teams deserve massive respect for putting on such a great show. Sad that hockey is over for now. What a ride.

Panthers fan here with many handshakes to the Oilers and their fans. They have no reason to be sore losers, they cinched 3 games in a row after being DOWN 3 in the series, that's fucking impressive. Plus, they'll always have McDavid. Hell, I even imagine they might win the cup next year! But for now, just please let South Florida have this. You guys are already cup-hoisting legends!
Well they have nothing else to do in that toilet 🚽🪠 known as Canada 😂 so why not max the MasterCard 💳 💰. Thanks to the Diaper Soilers 🛢️💥💩 for supporting the Florida economy!!!
You should've seen the regular season game back in January! The Florida stadium was filled with Oiler fans. They were cheering "LET'S GO OILERS!" In Florida 😂
This is the 2nd game 7 cup final i have watched in my lifetime for the Oilers. It does sting and the fear of contracts is creeping in, not to mention the chances to make the cup final again next year slimmed down. Hell of a fight from being down 3-0 but the Bob we all watched this years playoffs showed up for game 7. Florida fan congrats, and team bias aside it was great to see Lou finally get his cup.
If they can Keep McDavid they can win. The question becomes do Mcdavid and Draisaitl want to stick around for some potential down years while they figure things out? It's going to take time and work to get out of some of these horrible contracts and moves Holland has made.
Excellent video as always! Where did you find the image used at 49 seconds? That's me draped over the 2 girls and Id like to grab that as depressing as that is lol
They need to look at the team they just played, 12 months ago Panthers were well beaten by VGK but they bounced back to win it this year and they have been building towards this for at least three years, with the President’s Trophy, the losing finalists to winners. At the same time Oilers have lost out in the playoffs for 3 seasons in a row to the team that won the cup. These guys are going close and getting closer. A bit more strength in depth on the bench and they can do it. Also take heart, Gretzky’s Oilers lost there first Stanley Cup series too and by a bigger margin. The Oilers did Canada proud and should hold their heads high and go again next year. Let’s go Oilers!
I was in downtown Edmonton for every single game this playoff run. Seeing this city come alive. Watching old and new fans come together to cheer for this team. We may have come up short, but this team and this city gained more than they lost. I had faith until the end. And I have faith we will be back.
I remember Uwe Krupp putting the puck in the net in Game 7, 3rd overtime of the Stanley Cup Final in 1996. Colorado Avs beat the Panthers, both teams in their first cup final. Game tickets that year were $5 for upper level at McNichols Arena.
crosby and his team were KIDS in 09. against one of the greatest dynasties in hockey history... back to back cup finals. it was incredible. can't even compare a 21/22 year old crosby who was injured in game 7 btw, to prime oilers and mcdavid built for almost 10 years to get to the cup final.......... just some context
Gutted man. I was there for almost every single game of the playoff, either at rogers or one of the watch parties screaming for every goal we scored. I've never cheered for any team in any other sport like I did for the oilers. We deserved that cup more than anyone, McDavid's face at the end was heartbreaking. He deserved the Stanley.
I’m so freaking proud of my home and my team, our team, for making history and winning the cup. This has been a long time coming and we’ve been waiting for this moment for years. I bawled my eyes out in pure joy when the timer hit zero
I'm not a diehard hockey fan. But the Oilers did make history! I couldn't watch the games. But I followed the games on RUclips. Heads up Edmonton! Hell of a season! Greetings from Panama
Sid also didn’t play half the game seven and got injured like halfway in the game, and mcdavid played over 25 minutes. Theres a difference in those zero pts😂
As I've stated elsewhere, the greatest thing about this series for me is that my esteem for the Oilers' selfless captain has gone through the roof, and I've actually learned from him. And hey, the epic comeback was a victory in itself. Oilers outscored the opponent and largely outplayed them too, and that opponent has the toughest defence in the league. Lost by a hair to a team that iced the puck 75 times down the ice in the third period, to paraphrase Maurice. There's more inspiration than heartache from this loss. Rock forward majestically, dear Oilers.
You bring up Crosby not having any points in game 7 in 2009. Not exactly a fair 1-1, Crosby was injured in that game early. Whats McDavids excuse? Its pretty pathetic that the "worlds greatest hockey player" was all zeros in a SCF game 7.
I love your channel man. I know your a flames fan but i appreciate you for being a hockey fan. Id flames were to be in this position id be cheering for them too
"no one talks about it (sidney) because he won that game" - and mcdavid didnt. Mcdavid was great but its hard when the point of the playoffs is to win the cup and your team doesnt do it, should have been barkov or bob.
I know the feeling for Edmonton Oilers fans. The Chicago Blackhawks came back from a 0-3 deficit against Vancouver in 2011 in the Western Conference quarterfinals, only to lose 2-1 in OT in Vancouver. The positive is they won 2 Stanley Cups after that, so the Oilers can come back and do the same.
I personally hate the Blackhawks with the passion as a Nucks fann now that being said I will admit that Chicago was stacked with amazing talent during the late 2000s and early 2010s that was build to be a dynasty compare to the Oilers who only have McDavid and Draisatli but terrible defense and goaltending that alone doesn't win cups as we all saw in the finals they won't be back.
If we disregard the back to back 0 point games from mcdavid for the smythe, idk how we cant disregard the 3 bad games from bob (who faced unreal odd man rushes).. Only goalie to let up 1 or less in all series clenching games in our playoff run. I understand McDavid was unreal all postseason im just a salty cats fan ignore me.
Bob wasn't even the best goaltender in the series, but his team managed to get the win in game 7. McDavid was breaking records and approaching records previously thought as untouchable. I guarantee you though that McDavid doesn't want the trophy and would have preferred it gone to Barkov or Bob instead.
@@Marixa1979 Yeah you say bob wasn't the best goaltender and then Skinner lets in a 7 hole goal to lose the cup, alright lmao. If Bob was getting 5, 5, and 8 goals of support you'd be saying he was the better goalie. Skinner is a 1B on his best night, and it showed when it matters most.
@@Wayf4rer He allowed 2 goals in game 7. I don't honestly care what you think of Skinner as the goalie for the Oilers, I'm happy having him on my team. He's played in 6 playoff rounds in his first 2 years of his career, we'll be okay.
@@Marixa1979 Bob was the better goalie this series? Oilers D held their front better than we did by a mile and still lost. The historical thing is cool, but he was playing free money games down 3-0 and 3-1, when it mattered the most he was quiet and pedestrian. Ive never been a fan of the smythe going to the losing team, i think its a waste
@@sajji There weren't any standout performances by the Panthers in the playoffs. McDavid had twice as many points as the top Panther, Barkov was a net minus player in the finals and the playoffs, so as good as he was defensively, he still wasn't uber dominant, and Bob was good enough in the finals, but his stats were basically the same as Skinner's. It's playoff MVP and there was only a couple really standout performances, and they were on the Oilers, with McDavid and with Bouchard setting records for defensemen. There wasn't going to be a true satisfactory Conn Smythe winner this year unless the Oilers won, it is what it is.
i was on my way home from downtown edmonton dear lord the pure depression i am not the slightest bit saddened by the loss because its been years since we ended up in game 7 of the finals
Completely agree. Canucks fan here and I definitely cheered against Edmonton. I laughed when they went down 3-0. I could no longer deny the run, and cheered them on in game 7! For Canada!
I really appreciate your perspective coming in neutral. This was a special run and I’m grateful for how far they made it. Happy to see the positive message you showed him this video. Thanks!
Florida lost in the final in 2023 and came back and won the cup this year, the Oilers could easily repeat the same outcome in 2025 - The Oilers had a hell of season this year going from last in the league early in the season all the way to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final! The Oil aren't done by a long shot! Looking really forward to the 2024/2025 season!
Man it could have gone either way with the two dingers off the Panthers goal posts and the one off of the crossbar showed the hockey gods were not on the Oilers side. The Leon one timer at about the 3rd period 5:00 to go mark that missed the open side by 2 to 3 inches was the final kick in the groin by those hockey gods to the Oilers and their fans. It was a good season for Edmonton to be picked as sixth overall at the start of the season then drop to 31 st in the standings by November. A lot of na sayers were writing the Oilers off at that point. A great come back season and very exciting playoffs. Thanks guys it was a good year overall.
Crosby only played 1/3 of that game 7 and, oh yeah, he DID NOT win the Conn Smythe. They vote on that crappy award before the game is even over, so reporters didn’t want to look silly if Edm won. He should give that trophy to Bob-O.
Could he have given the CONN to BOB ? WOW, that be a move that kill the BIG Trophy moment.... to say, I believe this WAS a BETTER MAN... HE STOPPED ME..... just wondering!!
Oilers were never "Canada's Team" and all that resulted was hockey fans from other franchises (both Canadian and American) being pissed off with Boston Pizza trying make money off of fair-weather hockey fans who heard through word or mouth or on the news that a Canadian team is in the finals.
As a long time Oilers fan who can easily remember 1990's fifth cup...I am a bit heartbroken by the game 7 loss..but that doesn't take away from the great road it took to get here, this was a memorable run and will be remembered always. 2006 was a surprise so there was no real expectation, we were thrilled to get a game 7. This year was the same, getting to Game 7 was awesome. No doubt. But all this hype for Conner? was a bit over the top. He was held scoreless for game 6 AND 7...what kind of a superstar disappears for the two most important games? Go Oilers Go, see you in 25.
It hurts, but it just didn't feel like it was in the cards; rookie head coach, horrible start to the season and a sophomore goaltender. I feel like they made huge strides. I'm thinking positive for the future.
Crosby went pointless in game 7 in 2009 because he hurt his knee and didn't play a shift after the first couple minutes in the 2nd period. It doesn't matter if McDavid put up 4 points in an 8-1 game, it matters coming up big when your team needs you most. 0 points in game 6 and 7. McDavid didn't show up when the team needed him most
I'm not gonna lie,2006 was more heart breaking. They set many "first time's in history" themselves and literally NO ONE thought they would make it as far as they did. They had to win out their regular season just to face the president trophy winning red wings who I'm pretty sure not only won that but set(for the time)an all time record for points. They had an old goalie no one wanted that got hot at the right time and no player ANYTHING close to Mcdavid. If ur too young to remember, ask ur dad(if he's a hockey nut) about the 06 oilers and tell me a comparison video wouldn't kill
I think our best player at the time was ryan smyth, who would be comparable to.... maybe hyman on his own? Our defense then was miles better than this team tho with pronger, smith, statios etc etc etc.
I'm a Canucks fan. I cheered for Florida in the finals. But even I had to hand it to the Oilers and their fans. The team practically went from worst to 1st in the regular season, and came back from 3 donut in the finals. But they shouldn't have embraced the Perry curse! The fans were loudest in the league during the comeback, and really belted out the national anthem. Did all of Canada proud.
Thanks for the Oilers content. I could see Draisaitl do a short term signing for another year. I believe his contract and McDavid will finish at the same time then. They seem to have unfinished business in Edmonton.
The Stanley Cup is so hard to win ,alot has to go right along the way then when you make it to game 7 a few lucky bounces a lucky save or tip can change everything, Those two teams were both so closely matched. The margin for error was razor thin.
Not even a fan but was pulling for the Oilers for sure. As much this must suck it could have been so much worse. Obv its not a cup, but that game 4 was pretty fucking great display for their fans, esp vs getting swept at home. And then to double down in game 6. That shit is really special, and they really did show up as a team, which they and their fans should be proud of, even though they didn't get their name on a cup
I said it before the season this year. The Oilers need some adversity in order to win the cup. That 2024 was not their year, but 2025 would be their year. The boys have now learned exactly what it takes to complete the run. McDavid and Draisaitl won't be going anywhere (at least not yet) and this upcoming year is going to be something spectacular. This is the adversity that they need to face to unlock an extra level to their game. The immediate future looks bright in Edmonton, and I commend all the fans (the non toxic ones at least) for them cheering on their teams, and to the teams themselves for giving us a playoffs to remember. Good series to all that we had played, and I look forward to seeing most of you in the playoffs next year. Love you all hockey fans. Cheers to you.
@@johnnyc.31 yea tbh, florida lost then won, vegas lost then won, chicago lost then won two, tampa lost then won a bunch, penguins lost then won two. The first time is rarely the best time.
we still don't know what happens in the next couple years, don't jinx us, we were hopeful after the 06 run too. Both our stars contracts are up 1 year after the other.
I’d argue outside of pre existing oilers fans, the panthers potentially had more support in western Canada. Jets fans support because of Paul Maurice, canucks support because of Luongo and flames support because of tkachuk and they just wanted to see the oilers lose
Florida deserved the win, & my hats off to them. Edmonton I think just ran into Bobrovsky, who made the save of his life & gave everything he had & more (look how exhausted he was during his post game interview). But I noticed something maybe not too many did, & while it'll be disliked by Florida fans/Oilers haters, I watched McDavid, with the fans closest jeering him (some did applaud), people tossing every rat they could buy on the ice while Florida celebrated their hard fought win, being a true captain & leader, was the last one off the ice. Didn't come out to accept the Conn Smythe as a show of respect to the Panthers celebrating their moment, as Hextall did in 1987. But this reminded me of something. Remember that look on Sidney Crosby's face in 2008 when the Penguins watched Detroit win game 6 & the cup? He knelt on one knee, & WATCHED, burning the moment into his brain & let it feed him. Last one off the ice as well. In 1995, Steve Yzerman watched the New Jersey Devils celebrate, same thing. In 1983, Wayne Gretzky did the same thing, last one off the ice (I was there with my dad, & Uncle, a huge Bossy fan), watched the Islanders celebrate. For both Gretzky & Crosby, the next year, they came back & used what they had learned to win the Stanley Cup. Yzerman had to wait until 1997, but he did it. Remember that moment, because in my opinion, McDavid is gonna be back in the finals some day; he's learned now what it means to get SO close & just fall short. When he returns, he's going to dominate. Disagree all you want. But I've seen that look before, & I'll use one more example of it: last year's Florida Panthers.
Honestly, I thought the Oilers were dead in the water with their horrendous start of the season. When they fired their coach end of October-start of November, my thoughts really didn't change that much on them. Sure, I figured they would get some respectability back but nothing like this Stanley Cup run. By the ASG, they had something like a 10-plus game win streak (or standings points earned), which helped them move up the standings. I'm uncertain of their positioning (I'm a Caps fan, we had our own issues all season). Long story short, I predicted the Oilers winning the Cup for themselves and the Canadian country as a whole. At least I had the right amount of games (7). Best of luck to the guys this fall. Stay hungry.
I’m so fkn proud of our boys, even if we didn’t get the result we wanted. They worked their asses off all year and our entire city wanted it to happen for them. Next year boys! 💙🧡
If the Oilers can figure out a way to keep drai and dump nurse, then use his money to find a nice middle six guy (like a Zucker), and a 2nd pairing dman, I really believe they’re on the brink of becoming the next dynasty.
Imma be honest it isnt perry’s fault we just played bad we didn’t play our hockey in fact that reinhart goal was a weak goal to give up florida deserved it they played solid as they should and tbh there was no way florida was losing this game we just didn’t look ready
My favorite part was the defenseman passing the puck to Draisaitl and he fumbled it, looked up at the time. Has enough time to make a play and stops skating and gives up. Absolutely hilarious. Also idgaf what anyone says for excuses for McDavid. JS Giguere and Ron Hextall came out to boos and accepted their Smythe. He didn’t have enough class to do it.
I salute the insane EDM fans and I am glad they got to cheer for 2 home victories in the Finals. I wanted FLA to win their first Cup, but after hearing how loud the EDM fans were in Game 4, I wanted EDM to take it to 7 games.
Nailed it!
this attitude is why they lost
Almost doesn’t count.
I am gonna say, congrats on the win. Your guy Bob, damn, like Neo in the Matrix in 3 games. See you next year?!

I'm a fan of the Rangers and the pathetic Red Wings, but this Finals was something really special. Respect and Honor to both teams and fan bases.
Also, Stanley Cup final way better than the last two NBA Fianls love hockey
NBA is a weak step-sister to the NHL, the same way that basketball is boring, and dull compared to hockey
Game still sucked ass tho

Stop lying, we all know you're dying inside. 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 too bad your teams ass Edmonton is not Canadas team 😂
As an Oilers fan since the 80s, that 5-7 years started three years ago, and will be lucky to keep it going as long as you hope. HOWEVER, if Leon signs to stay long-term, and some top players take a pay cut to be on a cup contender, we can have more dominant years. The huge Nurse contract needs to be dealt with if we want to load up, and I don’t see that happening without having to retain salary and defeat the purpose. Just imagine if he was less greedy (like Hyman) and the team had an extra million of wiggle room at the deadline…. Could be a very different story today.
Nah, Canucks won't be starting an AHL goalie next season.
@@johnnyc.31 Nobody is taking a pay cut to live there.
I would have liked to see what that game looked like if Knoblauch had leaned harder on the only line that had been producing consistent results.
They'd have looked even slower than the slowest team in the league the last 5 minutes.
Oilers had a big push in the final 10 minutes and they got several good chances out of the McJesus-Drai-Hyman line. Bounces just didn't go their way and Bobrovsky was stellar again.
Ya that was a dumb move tbh, you could immediately see they weren’t as fast and deep without that line.
And 3rd 4th line guys were doing drive by poke and pray like my kids u15 team. Kids don't hit cause they are scared and lazy. What's a pro's excuse? Fla hit everyone and everything. Oil pass, zoom, incoming panther, bang.
I’ve been a diehard fan since 2002 and this loss hurt a lot. I definitely thought it was gonna happen this time 😢 what a wild run. Thank you oilers.
It does sting.
I think 06 was worse. At the time I was a pens fan in the middle of 15yrs of losing, and we(my friends group) pick the oilers as our playoff team that year. It was a CRAZY run that ended the same way
@@TechTokOffical agreed, the '06 loss hurt way harder. Especially with losing Roloson in game 1 of the final

@@TheKisj I genuinely think they were outplayed in 5 games but Bob effectively stole 2 from otherwise losing efforts so hats off to Bob there.
Yes, this.
Imagine the memes of Florida losing 2 cups back to back.... As an oil fan I'd honestly feel bad lol
Correction: Two goals short. You need to win, to win.
Yeah, but Florida didn't lose. History only remembers the winners

Well said
The similarities between the 2024 Stanley Cup Final game 7 and 2004 Stanley Cup game 7 are very eerie. As a Flames fan it was very painful to see something like this again.
Oilers haters are delighted. I’m gutted.

They had problems with Nashville. Then they were up 3-2 against a team they went 4-0 against in the regular season and then played hooky instead of hockey for games 6 and 7. Florida would have smoked them and OEL would have laughed.

Game tickets that year were $5 for upper level at McNichols Arena.

it would have been much more painful for Florida to lose that last game.
Thank you. You are awesome! This is the best hockey RUclips channel hands down!
You bring up Crosby not having any points in game 7 in 2009. Not exactly a fair 1-1, Crosby was injured in that game early.

Crosby also missed a lot of game 7 due to injury

Thanks for the Oilers content. I could see Draisaitl do a short term signing for another year. I believe his contract and McDavid will finish at the same time then. They seem to have unfinished business in Edmonton.
McDavid will definitely win one eventually. The work ethic he and the squad put in is insane. Just keep looking forward to the future
Yep. Some great teams have lost a Cup Final before winning. This year is one example, along with Crosby’s Penguins, and the 80s Oilers.
@@johnnyc.31 yea tbh, florida lost then won, vegas lost then won, chicago lost then won two, tampa lost then won a bunch, penguins lost then won two. The first time is rarely the best time.
It wont be their year untill Bettman gets the boot.
@@mikepurdue7472 imagine believing that Bettman controls how the players play in a game 7. 😂
@@johnnyc.31 lol, imagine thinking the NHL isn't rigged. Canadians know it is. Americans not so much.
That's the only thing you can be sure of: You never know.
as a long time viewer of oilers games since the early 90s, I know
Even though my team lost, this was one of the best Stanley Cup finals I have ever watched. It was a fantastic season.
It was sad but no where near what happened in 2006. I mean they don't call it the "Decade of Darkness" for no reason.
we still don't know what happens in the next couple years, don't jinx us, we were hopeful after the 06 run too.
Both our stars contracts are up 1 year after the other.
If McDavid leaves it could very well be another decade of darkness for the Oilers.
Really great wrap up Johnny
I’m so fkn proud of our boys, even if we didn’t get the result we wanted. They worked their asses off all year and our entire city wanted it to happen for them. Next year boys! 💙🧡
Panthers were always the team of destiny
The pain NEVER goes away, we just find ways to deal with it so it doesn’t ruin our lives but it hurts forever
This is one of my favourite channels.
If the Oilers can figure out a way to keep drai and dump nurse, then use his money to find a nice middle six guy (like a Zucker), and a 2nd pairing dman, I really believe they’re on the brink of becoming the next dynasty.
Losing game seven by one goal is like losing a tennis match in tie breaker in the final set, Oilers should be proud for their great season.
The goal I set was just playing in the final and not get swept 8) Mission accomplished, and expectation exceeded. And they are getting better at it.
I'm a DET and NYR fan, so I had no real dog in this fight, but this was the level of intensity that makes people become "fans of the sport" even when their guys are no longer in it.
