  • I tried the Magneto longboards 44inch kicktail cruiser for the first time. It's a budget cruiser and I wasn't all that impressed with it to be honest. These are just my first impressions, and hopefully, an in-depth review will follow later on and maybe my thoughts will improve with more riding and experimentation.

    Is any budget board really worth it?

      When you're trying to figure out what you like and you don't have a very large skate community around you, or any board shops nearby, then yes. It gives you the ability to try a few different things without spending a fortune before you figure out what you like. That's the route I went. I tried a cheap 28-inch cruiser and a couple cheap longboards, one being similar to the one in this video, and the other being a symmetrical drop-through. After figuring out some things, I now own a Bustin Sportster 35 set up with Caliber III 184mm 44-degree raked trucks, and a Loaded Ballona Moby. I love both of those boards.
      So budget boards may not be optimal for every situation, but there are times when they're not so bad. I wouldn't get one expecting it to be a long term board. I think as long as the end user is realistic about what they're getting, they're fine for what they are.

    Been using one of these for over a year and I love it, it’s a longboard not a competition board. I find it very easy to ride and enjoy the laid back cruiser feel, wheels are great I personally had no problems with the trucks all in all a great board for $80

      Is it the only longboard you've ever had or used?
      If you're on a budget it's fair enough of a buy, but really not worth it if you can spend a bit more or can find something second hand

      Agree 100%
      Very good board for the money.
      My daughter and I have had ours for 3 years and they still work great.

    This is My board hahaha, actually I learned how to slide in this, and got it to do some mellow downhill. I'm over 280lbs and the board haven't snapped on me just yet. just put some vicious griptape on top of it and you will be good to go. is it the best board? well main issue with this is actually the truck, they are too cheap. the whole construction of the board is a little goofy but I think it is fun.
    I bought a set of caliber 3's and it made the ride a LOT more enjoyable. this in my opinion is a good budget board to get you into longboarding, but I always suggest people just to buy higher quality used boards that will make the riding experience a lot better right away.
    I recommend you try it out with another set of trucks and some freeride wheels, just for the fun of it. my setup righht now is 45° caliber 3s, and 63mm EZ Hawgs.

      well you see, you replaced the whole thing with different components to make it feel good. I can do that, but i'd rather something that works great out of the box ya know?
      I think some of their other options might be better budget boards, even with teh same issue I think

    I just really loved having a LONGboard with the kick tail, felt stiff enough, ollied it often and it was fine. Now yes, as time went on, I swapped wheel’s, added riser, new bearing and some conical bushings. I really loved the deck though, such a nice vibe

    I was actually looking at their tesla downhill board recently. $99 for a downhill deck doesn't seem that bad (I'd probably scrap all the other parts though)

    I have a very, very similar board from a different brand. I wouldn't be surprised if they're made in the same factory or something. Same experience; the trucks are not good and are the major shortcoming of that board. The deck is decent for cruising on, and the wheels and bearings seemed fine.

    • @Tony-zp8xn
      @Tony-zp8xn 2 года назад

      @@RatBürgerSk8 It's not just the bushings, but also the pivot and the pivot cup. There's just too much play and no good way to fix it without it being an uncertain moneypit. The trucks are just bad. If someone really likes the deck, they should just invest in better trucks.

    • @LongboardingExplained
      @LongboardingExplained  2 года назад

      you're rigth about the trucks and whole thing being a money pit. Deck isn't too bad and there is some potential there tbh

      @@LongboardingExplainedwhat trucks do you recommend without breaking the bank? I didn’t see your review and I just got one.
      I’m a newbie but I found it to be a bit woobly when riding. Also the wheels do not spin freely, I found a bit of plastic inside the wheels. Any tips would be great! Cheers

    Throw a better pair of trucks on it and see what happens when you really push the deck.
