This video tutorial provides information how to perform pre-season maintenance on a snow plow pump motor. The maintenance procedure covered in this video will be the same or similar on most snow plows, including Fisher, Boss, Meyer, and Western snow plows. The plow pump motor in this video operates a Fisher Minute Mount snow plow. This plow pump motor preventive maintenance helps to reduce friction and allows a plow pump motor to run more smoothly and operate more efficiently. If you notice that your plow is operating slowly, or is not moving the rams at all, you may need to lubricate your plow pump motor. The issue could also be related to a pump screen that is clogged with emulsified oil.

Just want to let you know…
I was at wits end on a new to me 20 year old Fisher that was only used a couple times.
All wiring on truck was new and tested.
Nothing but clicking when I tried it. Had voltage to motor and good ground.
Was about to go buy a new motor as I figured it was seized.
Found your video. Removed cap. Cleaned armature with some emery and spray cleaner , removed loose rust, greased bearing.
    Works like new! 👍

You need to change out the bushing in side your cap, it’s worn on one side. What happens is the armature-(rotor) will start to rub on the field- (stator) and it will short out. It will have a hard time rotating at first and then it just won’t work.
The cool thing is the bushing is about $2 and one changed it’s like brand new.

Great tip, fortunately I live in San Antonio and it hasn't snowed here since 1985, and never enough to plow it. Lol 😆

Great video!! I been trying to find videos on this type of pump and motor, and most videos guys either talk slow as if they have learning defects, or they act as if they're having a conversation with you and they can cut their videos down 15 minutes if they just got to the point like you did! I'm going to look for your other videos cuz I'm looking to see how to properly change the oil in this thing, because this is my first minute Mount Plow! Most my trucks were always 80s and had hydraulic fisher plows, which I believe are way better Denny's electric over hydraulic minute mount craps! But unfortunately today's trucks don't leave too much room 4 hydraulic pumps, and the valve body with cables! So I'm stuck with what I got! But I love your video it's concise, to the point, your camera is right on what we need to see unlike the last video I watched where the guy must have had a GoPro on his head and the video was about two inches above what he was doing! I'm subscribing, because you just put out a short and sweet and to the point excellent video! Thank you

Have you figured out how to change the fluid? I can walk you through it if you need.

@Mark Jenkins - how often do the hydraulic cylinders break down on snowplows?

Mine lasted 5 years of moderate use before I had to replace the gland nut and seal.
Totally neglected and problem free besides that repair.
