OBS Countdown Timer - How to Redirect to a Scene At ZERO SECONDS
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 окт 2020
- This tutorial explains how to apply an OBS countdown timer script so that when the timer is complete, it automatically redirects to a scene of your choice. This script is a modification by a user named "EmbodyWisdom Today," and it was created from the original countdown.lua script. What it provides is both a text message or a scene select when the countdown script reaches zero. You can also define days and hours if needed. If you are looking to open up your live stream with a song and countdown that switches to a welcome scene when the song ends, this countdown timer will be perfect for your needs. Another benefit is that many other countdown scripts don't work right with version 26.0. This one does.
You must follow Scott's set up procedure. If you open up the countdown script and select the scene to switch to BEFORE determining the time length, the script will immediately change the scene before you can even test it. The script switches immediately, and this causes havoc to OBS Studio. It is essential to set your countdown length BEFORE selecting the scene.

Thank you, best tutorial I found for a simple, useful timer. Very clear instructions and no distracting music in the background. thanks!
this is the only obs tutorial channel i have found that is not annoying. it gets right to the point and explains any bumps you may have along the way. thank you for your sense of humor as well. i WILL be sharing this with other streamers i know.
Thank you my friend.
Great tutorial! no annoying background music, just clear instructions and to the point. Thank you, thumbs and subscribed!
Yep, I experimented with background music and I concluded that it contributes to making the tutorial harder to learn. I dropped the idea. Thanks for the sub Barackuse.
Amazingly helped. Firstly the timer worked great and then the Optional timer and then last the High five with sub. Been trying OBS for my art and these little things are great. Many thanks
Scott, there's great value in this OBS tutorial.
Thanks Scully! I have to admit I have learned a PILE from the research that I conduct on this channel.
Just followed your instructions..
PERFECT..
Thank you..
That is so amazing and crazy at the same time!
I was just looking for a script for this, and unexpectedly this video was uploaded yesterday.
Just what I needed for my streams, thanks!
GETSUM!
Sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
My god i totally LOVE this. It's exactly what i needed, thanks a lot. You're awesome!

Exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the tutorial!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks my friend. I learned a diffrent way of installing scripts.
Great!
Awesome tutorial! Clean, simple, useful as hell!
HELL YEA!
Thats actually a really nice workflow for downloading stuff and using the default folder navigation thats built into OBS. This is good practice that could be used in general. Helping people to do computer things better, in general! NICE :)
Thanks Jason! Keep fighting brother.
wow really helpful . thank u sir
Great tips! I am a new fan!
Awesome! Thank you!
You make it look so easy. thanks man
Noel, thanks brother. I do my best.

Thanks bro
Love this Scott, thank you....
Thanks Wendell! How are you holding up?
@@ScottFichter all good here....was out on the west coast for 2 weeks, and getting back today.....hope to use this new timer for my Wednesday Live show tomorrow.
Thank you so much!
No worries!
Thanks man! I was trying to use snaz, and record a video with the time already embeded in it. But it was always skipping some seconds... this works like a well oiled machine.
GETSUM st3vao. Stay strong.
Great tutorial. What version of OBS is this that has the "Next Scene" choice? Mine ( Free version) does not have this drop down menu.
Fantastic tutorial Scott, thanks! A question now; is there a way to start a text from right to left and stops in the middle of the screen? Tnxs!
This guy has better production than TV programs.
Can you imagine what this channel would be like if I had a $300,000/year budget for staff?
@@ScottFichter I can imagine - it would be a horrible channel! 🤣 Everything I know about OBS is because of you and Nutty
thanks man
GETSUM MPX! You're super welcome.
Ehi well done! This is usefull!
Glad it was helpful! GETSUM Oracolo.
Thnx for it..

KUCHH LE LO
works greate. Thank you. Except one tiny problem. The right last digit with my font, a piece is cut and not shown completly. I can´t move the timer in the box :-(
Does anyone know why my transition goes twice when the countdown hits 0:00? I'm using a stinger transition and it seems to work properly when selecting a different scene but when using the script, the transition starts, stops and starts again before switching scenes.
Great video - just wonder if you cam along a lua script which does a countdown not by the time you just add but until a specific destination time. Time for new year or tomorrow 2PM timer.
Hey Scotty! Remember me? I had a video go to 1.2M views!! Still climbing!👍🏻😁❤️🦊
GETSUM!!!!!!!!!!! HELL YEA!!!!! How many subs has that video created for you.
Hey man, huge thanks for everything you're doing! Your videos have been a huge help and given me some great inspiration for my own videos!!
After installing this countdown timer and getting it set up, I noticed something strange. When the time reaches 0 and transitions to the next scene, my stinger transition partially plays twice. It plays the second half, then the first half, then the scene pops up. Any idea on what's causing this issue?
I'm not sure on this issue.
very helpfull video, thx a lot! is there any way to soften the sound during the transition? like fading one out and the other in during the switch when you have different music on the scenes?
That should be built into OBS if I'm not mistaken
Great tutorial, thank you! Is there a way to add sound when the scene switches?
YES! Consider using Move Transition. This would be a killer tutorials actually.
i am unable to download file system wants to know how do you want to open the file....please suggest
Is there a way to have two seperate timers for each scene?
Auto scene switch would be cool i do it currently with mixitup app. Where my secomd cam shows at a timer interval for 20s right now.
Killer idea Coffinsnail.
this is amazing. I am wondering if there is anyway I can utilize this in streamlabs OBS
Sorry George. I dug into SLOBS and ran away. I'm exclusive to OBS so I'm really not sure.
I looked at the script, where does it start? it's all functions!
Nice tutorial! Is there a way to fade out from the intro and fade into the next scene?
Yes, you could potentially do this with a stinger transition. Do you know how to make a video with alpha channel? I did touch on this subject with this video.ruclips.net/video/ueQB1AEGPWQ/видео.html
Scott, is there a way to add music or any audio while it countsdown?
Gretytech, I'm unaware of a way to have OBS automatically detected the end of the song and execute a scene switch but what most of us do is simply add a song track and set the countdown to the length of the song. I hope this answers you question.
Please tell me how to switch again to the previous scene and continue with two scenes switching between them and also before switching the text is not showing, pls help me
Do you have a video on if you want to do a countdown from 10 minutes, but 5 minutes in switch to another scene and continue counting down on that media source, like a intro video..?
Hmmm... the hurdle is getting the first scene to consider 5:00 to be 0:00.... Hmmm. Then the second scene to start at 5:00. There's got to be a way. I'm going to have to dig on this one. An exercise timer may be the solution
I want to set timer for my you tube streaming using obs how?
Scott I got the timer working but cannot get rid of the extra zero i use the alt key and try to slide right but nothing.
Snaz may be the better option
Is there an alternative to make a source visible after the timer is due, instead of a scene?
YES! You can do this with the Move Transition plugin
This works as expected, but it doesn't work well with Stingers. With stingers, there's a double transition effect.
Thanks for the heads up Erskins. Hmmm. I'm going to have to dig into this.
I have the timer running on my first scene but when I click on "studio mode" the timer stops counting down. Am I doing something wrong?
my countdown is now working on OBS 26.0.2
GETSUM Tormy! Good to hear from you bro.
Every time I try to select a new scene for it to auto translate to after the timer is done, my OBS keeps crashing
Hi sir. i will try to my Obs 29.3.1 but not work to my obs 29.3.1
Thanks for the tutorial sir. But when i do this.. while scene switching after the timer ends.. it plays my stinger transition video twice so it doesn't complete the full animation and the scene switches. Any solutions?
AirStrike, so the countdown timer scene does switch you to the next scene right? Can you explain what happens when the next scene plays? Are you using a custom transition between scenes? Maybe the next scene contains the animation that looks like a transition? I need clarity. Thanks dude. I wish I could see what it's doing.
It is hard to explain with words but I'll try,
1- my transition has a video of a grenade. The pin pulls.. there is fire explosion and then the scene switches.
2- now using the auto scene switcher.. after timer has come to zero, the transition video starts.. the grenade pulls a pin and then the video loops back again .. so it like pull pin - pull pin and scene change .. no explosion.
@@ScottFichter sir any solution?
@@AirStrikeGG What happens when you turn off the transition?
@@ScottFichter it works fine with anything but a stinger transition
Does this work for OBS 27 the latest one?
Yes, there's been no issues with it for 27.
Streamlabs can do or not?
I stay away from SLOBS because they are pirates.
Is there also a way how I can get my alarm to make a sound when it reaches zero? Help would be super appreciated!
www.online-stopwatch.com/custom-stopwatch/
Does this counter have the ability to start, stop and reset using hot keys? If not do you know of one that could do this?
THIS MIGHT BE IT! codepen.io/cathydutton/pen/xxpOOw
The cool factor is awesome on this one codepen.io/hilotacker/pen/ONZWoX
NO WAY !!!! codepen.io/mmadeira/pen/YWedVR
Not pretty but it can do lap times codepen.io/stevesydney/pen/zKQWPK
This looks promising - codepen.io/hendrasusanto/pen/OJmGBz
So is there no way to get scripts to work inside of Streamlabs? Because I don't see the option to.
There's a reason why this channel only talks about OBS Studio. You just discovered on of the big reasons.
@@ScottFichter So does that mean I have to start over in OBS? Because I've done everything for my overlay that I've been working on except this countdown. :/
IG, It looks like Snaz is the solution for you. Have you heard of it? Here's a tutorial for ya. ruclips.net/video/Je3n0i6OeFw/видео.html
it did not work for me :(
I am using 26.1.1
Can OBS do automatic scene switching with timer from A to B to A to B and so on, so like 5 minutes A then 3 minutes B then 5 minutes A then 3 minutes B?
Same time yes... A --> 5Min --->B--->5Min -->C-->5Min-->A. Different times no... this is based on my current level of plugin awareness.
Thanks!
And for game do we just have to insert the game screen
Yes
For countdown when I try to choose text Source there is nothing appearing can you help pls
Have you tried restarting OBS? If no joy consider restarting the computer. If no joy check to make sure you don't have two instances of OBS installed on your computer.
Hi Scott! i literally have tried everything and it doesnt work :(
I have the 26.1.1 version, do u thing thats the issue? i tried reopen everthing, even restarting my computer
I know the answer is probably yes but I have to ask. Did you restart OBS? Did you restart your computer?
@@ScottFichter yeah yeah I restarted the program and my computer, both.
@@ScottFichter Would u have the answer? or other way to do kind of the same thing? help hahah
@@jimecastaneda5266 I have no idea how to fix a problem that I can not reproduce at my office. Short remoting into your computer there's now way I can fix it.
Will this work for Mac also?
I'm not 100% sure cause I have a PC but I think the answer is yes.
@@ScottFichter Thanks. I will try it out. Love your content and everything you do. Im a teacher and I use OBS Studio for my zoom class. Keep up the great work!
thanks for your amazing channel.... but this time , this timer doesn't work.... i did exactly like you, but it didn't work.... please help
Mac or PC?
does this need python installed to work??
No, why would you think that?
@@ScottFichter Because it didn't work for me - and then I saw the python tab and assumed I had to reinstall it to make it work. I'm a newbie to OBS, but I tried another tutorial on the same thing and it didn't work either. It sits on the screen and says whatever I type in the box. I'm using the latest version of OBS and the latest plugins. I am running the latest streamFX. If not python, any ideas? Thanks, mate.
Will it work for streamlabs
I don't think so.
@@ScottFichter what is the best bit rate for obs vids coz whenever I record my bit rate is always a little bit too laggy type
Doesn’t work for me no matter how many times I refresh
By refresh do you mean restarting your OBS program after installing the plugin? I know this is a stupid question but I have to know.
