  • My original fandub is blocked in the US and several other countries, so in order for this song to continue being available as widely as possible, I had to improvise with this sing-along video.
NOTE: The macrons that should be on the respective first vowels in "rēgulīs" and "cōgitātō" slipped by me in video editing, but both are included in the below reprint of the complete lyrics.
    DESCRIPTIO
Prīmā vice descriptiōnem latīnē scrībō! Hoc carmen est adaptātiō latīna carminis "Let It Go" ex filmō Disnēiānō "Gelāta" (vel "Hiemis Rēgīna")! Spērō ut vōbīs placeat! Iūdicium ūtile (quōmodō dīcitur "constructive critique"?) bene accipiētur.
    TEXTUM
Hāc nocte nix in monte splendet
    Sine quīdem vestīgiō,
    Et sōlitūdinis regnī
    Mē rēgīnam inveniō.
Hic ventus fremit ut interna tempestās.
    Quamquam latuerim, vīcit vēritās.
    Mē hortantur illī tamen
    Ut eandem quae sum occultem,
    Sed repenter sapiunt omnēs
    Quid sit in mē!
    Līberē, līberē
    Exsolvenda exsolvō.
    Līberē, līberē
    Nunc illīs tergum vertō.
    Quid dīcant
    Mī nīl est vērē.
    Pergat tempestās,
Nam numquam vexāvit hoc frīgus mē.
    Distantiā hāc tam parvae
    Videntur rēs omnēs.
    Metūs quī mē constringēbant
    Nōn attingunt haud mē.
    Iam hōra est explorandī
    Et terminōs sīc temptandī.
    Ab rēgulīs mē līberō.
    Surgō!
    Līberē, līberē
    Tunc ventus caelumque fiō.
    Līberē, līberē
    Plōrāre dēsistō.
    Firmē stō,
    Mansūra hīc.
    Pergat tempestās!
    In terram tandem potestātem diffundō.
Me' anim' ascendit ut spīra in āer' ergō.
    Capior repenter sōlō cōgitātō hōc:
    Ad id praeteritum
    Numquam haud redībō.
    Līberē, līberē
    Hīc surgam ut oriēns sōl.
    Līberē, līberē
    Perfectiōnem spernō.
    Et sub diēī
    Lūce stō firmē.
    Pergat tempestās,
Nam numquam vexāvit hoc frīgus mē.

I don’t think anyone’s done this yet, so here’s my best literal translation (please point out any mistakes I may have made):
“Tonight the snow glistens on the mountain, without a footprint indeed. And I find myself the queen of a kingdom of loneliness. This wind roars like the internal storm. Although I concealed it, the truth won. They urged me however to hide what I was at the same time. But suddenly everyone knows what is in me! Freely, freely I untie my shackles (literally needing-to-be-untied-things). Freely, freely now I turn by back to them. What they say is nothing to me truly. Let the storm proceed. For this cold never bothered me. From this distance all things seem so small. The fear which used to bind me does not touch me. Now it is time for exploring and for testing the limits in this way. I free myself from the rules. I arise! Freely, freely afterwards I become the wind and sky. Freely, freely I cease to cry. I stand firmly. About to remain here. Let the storm proceed! At last I spread the power into the earth. My soul ascends like twirling things in the air thus. I am taken suddenly by a single thought: I will never return to that past. Freely, freely here I will arise like the rising sun. Freely, freely I hope for perfection. And I stand firmly under the light of day. Let the storm proceed. For this cold never bothered me.” 😁

ipek Aybek if your having problems you could alternatively study Italian then transition to Sardinian the closest language spelling and speaking wise to Latin and then study Latin. The reason for Sardinian being closest to Latin is because the Germanic tribes that invaded Italy sort of mixed their language into Latin and eventually it evolved into Italian but Sardinia weathered the storm and while the Germanic vandals technically controlled them the eastern Roman Empire retook the area pretty quickly and the eastern Romans while being Greek spoke Latin and by the time the now called Byzantines lost their grip there were independent Italian city states so Sardinia simply became one itself an example of the three languages is house in Latin is domus in Italian is caza and in Sardinian is domu another problem you may be encountering is Latin has three word genders I believe and to my knowledge only Romanian kept three all the others use two so studying Romanian for help understanding this may help

Just a doubt about the grammar. Instead of "Me reginam invenio" should'nt it have been "Me regina invenio esse"? I know the former sounds much better, but I don't understand the grammatical construction.

    • @TranslatorCarminum
      @TranslatorCarminum  3 года назад +1

Thanks for your question! In poetry, "esse" can be omitted and left implicit in indirect discourse.

    • @joaocoelho1029
      @joaocoelho1029 3 года назад +1

@@TranslatorCarminum Thank you for aswering me! But I still don't get why you used "reginam", in the accusative, instead of "regina", in the nominative. The predicative of the verb "esse" (here implicit) is usually in the nominative. Pardon me, I'm pretty new to Latin.

    • @TranslatorCarminum
      @TranslatorCarminum  3 года назад +1

@@joaocoelho1029 While the predicate of "esse" and other copula is usually in the nominative case, this is only because the corresponding subject is usually in the nominative case. A more general rule would be that the predicate of a copulative verb (like "esse") matches the case of the subject of that same verb. So in the song, since "mē" is accusative (as the subject of an indirect discourse clause), "rēgīnam" is also accusative.

THEwolfKiana English is a mixture of languages. Latin is the "root" language of French, Italian and Spanish. However there are some select words where are taken from Latin :)
For some people it is. I am currently learning by 7th and 8th languages for this song...as long as you have the phrasing and know the melody well you should always be fine :)
