I love those two so much and their relationship is amazing.
What annoys me SO BAD about the love triangle is that the choice is SO OBVIOUS. Like it’ll be literally the perfect guy who’s understanding, always does his best, owns up to his mistakes, and treats her like an overall queen and she’ll turn him down for a dude who literally is like “show me the cheeks or I’m leaving” LIKE WHAT
Yeahh, I hate it when that happens. With love triangles (and reverse harems) I'm usually left cursing at the screen when they pick the asshole instead of the person who treats her so nicely since the start. It's so frustrating!!!
Except for Fruits Basket, I was really happy with the ending.
It reminds of that one anime called wolf girl or something. At the time, I liked it but now that I'm older, I realize how fucking toxic it is.
And when they make the good option do something uncharacteristically bad so that it makes the other love interest seem like the better choice

Fun fact: "the beach episode" anime trope is commonly used as filler. This means that the trope itself does not contribute to the plot, but rather is used as a means of preventing the anime from derailing from its manga counterpart.

That shit takes place on the beach and has the beach scene but important to the story.
Not in Assassination Classroom. The show not only gives a legitimate explanation as well as reason for why the characters are at a beach and has a actual plot to it but with how the class is treated in the show by the school, it makes you want them to have those beach days cause you feel like the class deserve it(if you watched the show or read the manga, then you’ll know what I’m talking about.) It’s also in the manga too.

That trope kinda reminded me of Tamaki and Hikaru, but also doesn't sound like them ..
I don't know. Haruhi doesn't seem to fall for either at first. She really doesn't seem to even fall for Tamaki until the end of season 1 and, despite going on a literal DATE with Hikaru (yes, I know that it was Karu who asked her out, but Haruhi IMMEDIATELY knows that's it's Hikaru, so it still counts) her feelings seem to mainly be platonic for both of the twins.
Also, if Haruhi likes Hikaru, then it messes with my favorite ship: Tamaki X Haruhi and my favorite crack ship: Karu X Hikaru

My Favorite is the "Opposites attract" trope, where two characters that oppose in key ways somehow interact and act well off of each other. That's why shows like "Teasing Master Takagi-san" are so entertaining.
Not even gonna Alie I forgot that show exsisted.
The chemistry of the two just works. Takagi's cunning while Nishikata's genuinely hardworking. Can't wait for the movie.

Both of these parts are so accurate. I hate the accidental pervert, bc 99% of the time, the girl can just walk in on a guy changing and he’s a pervert. Guy accidentally walks in and gets absolutely beaten up and called a pervert.
I'm not a fan of The Accidental Pervert Trope either. It really pisses me off.

To be fair, she’s a doormat but has WAY more character to her being one than any other anime girls I know of. It actually make sense why she is the way she is, she isn’t like that for no reason.

Yes , but Tohru works on growing out from her doormat phase . She is a doormat for a reason, and that advances the plot ( Shigure manipulating her to end the curse so that he could go back to his toxic ex) ... unlike other mangas or anime where the girl is a doormat for no reason.. almost like a male fantasy where her only job is being a slave and let the guy treat her horribly and sleep with other girls .
It would be very funny when a girl walks in on a guy changing, he calls her a pervert, and the whole roles are reversed with the pervert trope.
Watching the Tsundere get decked in her fucking teeth would be hysterical.

I did see that one in an anime, i forgot its name though, boy watched a girl during swimteam, she calls him pervert, a few days later that same girl watched that same boy during swimtime and he calls her pervert as well, it was revenge well taken.

I actually like the power of friendship, but only if it’s used the right way. For me, there musn’t be any insane power-up out of nowhere, but only a feeling of hope and courage. It’s better when it helps the mc MENTALLY rather than technically/physically against the villain.

That happens irl too. Almost all my girl friends complain about being fat when it is VERY obvious that they are thin. 2 or 3 kilos apparently classifies them as fat in their opinion. To someone like me who is like 20 kilos overweight but doesn't always look it (Baggy shirts for life) I just kinda get annoyed when they are thin. Sorry for ranting as a comment but it is not limited to anime.

What about the "Step Sister" Cliche? I know it is a thing: You got Mikasa in Attack on Titan, Kanako in Love Hina, etc. It doesnt matter that the girl was literally raised alongside the protagonist, she always harbors secret feelings for him. I know there is technically nothing "wrong" with it, but it often left me with a funny taste in my mouth.
And let's not go down the rabbit hole when the girl is his ACTUAL sister...

I actually really love the beach episodes. I love to see the characters take a little break from the "normal" plotline and settings and spend a day at the beach and giving some "slice of life" moments... and I do love the swimwear

@jeffreygao3956 Why? That one still falls in under what I like about beach episodes. They take a break from the normal plot line and instead go on vacation to the beach, playing volleyball, going to a party, trying to hang out with ordinary kids their age, and having a bonfire :)

I don’t know if it’s technically an anime, but the beach episode in avatar is interesting to me because it’s simultaneously the stereotypical beach episode, but also an episode where we get an insight into team Azula + Zukos characters and motivations.
It is not, but yeah that episode is neat.
In general I love how Avatar takes a bunch of anime tropes, but it subverts our expectations. Very few shows do that this well

I can lowkey understand the flashback one though because when you do stuff for people you care about, you remember to keep going for them and that's what helps people. It can drive their willpower so it's not as annoying but them getting powerful out of nowhere instead of "coincidental" help from another character will forever and always annoy me.
That's a good way of putting it.
I kind of want a scenario were the protagonist is about to lose, get's a friendship flashback and beat the sh*t out of the villain. Then the villain pulls an Uno card, get's a friendship flashback, and make the protagonist go "Nani the f*ck?!"

I think the power of friendship actually works in real life, as we humans are social beings it shows that we humans are stronger when we are united.However, most animes just didnt use this trope wisely and ends up being all the same.

My favorite trope is when character A is afraid of character B, but B is a nice person, and doesn't get, why A acts so weird.
Sometimes it happens because of misunderstanding, sometimes character A is just paranoid what B is out to get them.

The doormat heroine is why I can’t with Shojo anime. But when I started Fruits Basket and met Tohru she literally was that stereotype but she somehow wasn’t annoying to me. She was cute and fun even tho she fits the stereotype.

Ohhhh, Urasekai Picnic! I remember it! It's my favorite horror anime/manga. After trapped in Urasekai with some American soldiers, fighting some monsters/ghosts, Sorawo and Toriko somehow teleported to Okinawa island? Oh yeah, there's USA military base in Okinawa so makes sense. While they are on that island, why not have fun? But somehow, Urasekai ghosts/monsters find them😂

I love childhood friends tropes and use them myself.
But personally, I feel like they should be more than just a character and be utilized to reveal more about the M/C or even develop them.
Think about it, M/C has known the character for the longest time and trust them the most. I personally believe the M/C would act in a way or show parts of their character that they normally wouldn’t show anyone else.
I like how self-aware the two love interests of the girl in the "Love Triangle" trope. It's so hella hilarious lol.

I read a manhwa “who made me a princess” and the love triangle one is so accurate except she met bad boi first.
And the love triangle wasn’t even part of the plot and yet they delivered it so wonderfully that it went with the flow of the story
I also am a big fan of the bad boi because his personality is sucks yet changes for the Mc and every time she thinks “who do I choose” I scream at her to choose the obvious choice ✨bad boi✨

I prefer the beach episode to the hot spring episode, mostly because the hot spring episode generally involves at least one girl getting shamelessly groped.
Youjo Senki (The Saga of Tanya the Evil) has a "beach episode" (more of a brief scene on the beach). Both female characters went to the office instead, while the men put on tight trunks for a beach barbecue. It was a lovely subversion.

My least favorite trope of all time is when a setting has women be more powerful than the men or has multiple women in power or a special unique ability that only women can do…but then a man joins the ranks and the focus becomes on him, rather than embracing a story let by powerful women, the show instead delves into an average harem and has all the women fall for him and essentially be his conquests and submit to his leadership because no matter how powerful women are, they’re always looking for a stronger man to trump them!

My worst cliché is the scene where the to friends "Actidentally" trip and fall on each other. they way they fell doesn't even prove that they will fall on each other.
My top three most hated tropes are "the harem", "the lucky pervert", and "male character being as*aulted is funny" tropes.
My partner wanted to show me a funny scene and the scene we watched was of a man being physically and s*xually as*aulted by three non-human women. He had to fight for his life for a entire night and in the morning his house was completely trashed, he was covered in cuts and bruises, and his arm was in a sling. It was passed off as something funny which disgusted me. Just imagine the reception if the genders were switched.

Unfortunately Japan doesn't believe in showing gay men in a serious light or actually romancing each other. It's another trope. Sure they'll have series featuring a homesexual character on occasion, but rarely do they develop it as an on-screen relationship. You're much more likely to encounter a cross dresser or pervert character as a gag.

Talk about being late to the party, I just discovered this channel a month ago, and enjoyed the two trope videos. Emirichu hit the highlights but here are a few more, mine are more like pet peeves.
1. The terrible cook who never improves.
2. The trip to the festival.
3. Ignoring the bad guy after he or she is knocked out. Then the two good guys chat while the bad guy recovers only to escape or beat-up/kill good guy.
4. Never ending shows. How often can we watch; Naruto, Monkey D. Luffy, Gintama, get beaten to a pulp, only to have them practically come back from the grave to beat opponent? For me, it’s about 300 episodes.
5. The sad fact that people with cat ears don’t exist in real life. The world would be a better place….
6. Never changing clothes. I understand that it’s cheaper to produce a show if the cast are always wearing the same clothes, still would having someone take 0ff their coat, or change their shirt kill the budget?
7. Over simplified nose drawing in full faced images. Usually, a nose is drawn with a dot and shadow, or a few squiggly lines. I always wished that would improve. The best example I’ve seen is on the cover of book titled “True Beauty” by Yaongi it’s actually a webtoon.

I honestly like the Beach Episode in Darling in the Franxx because Plot wise it partly has to do with not scarring the children probably and also because it is kinda what starts off part of the major Plot of the show
Beach episode on DITF had a potential to be something more than "plot". I really dissapointed how creators quickly reject puberty and distopian motive for cosmic battles
