Finally a review of the handle! but alot of false info. you can get 2 different nato mounts (long and short) + a arri-rosette mount for the handle. they have to be purchased separately
I just received the left side version. The unit powered on fine but as soon I connected the supplied USB-C-micro USB cable it seemed to be work fine for five minutes but then it suddenly started smelling like something was over heating! I pulled the battery immediately and let it cool down overnight but this morning, I tried again, it lights up green but there is no power coming from the USB-C port and it does not drive the motor, so something has obviously fried inside. The motor still works perfectly with the separate nano wheel, thank god it did not fry that too!😢
With only ONE USBC port on this Tilta handle. Can anyone tell me how this handle's focus wheel can control the Titla nano motor and the start/stop feature simultaneously? I have a Komodo and bought the Tilta start/stop cable, but can't use the focus wheel feature at the same time. Is this a flaw or is there a work around?
I just bought the Tilta Advanced right-side focus handle and can’t seem to get it to pair with the Nucleus Nano II motor (NOT original Nano I motor). It will power it up, but the Nano II motor doesn’t respond in any of the color options to the Advanced right-side focus handle control wheel. Any suggestions on how to get the handle to communicate with the Nano II motor?
Do you know if the direction of the focus wheel can be reversed? I can't figure out how to do it, and counterclockwise for minimum focus is super counterintuitive
Can you link me the wire you need for the stop/start button? For the life of me I can not find ANY info on what cable it is and how to connect it to my sony a7s3. Thanks
Do you need a battery if you use the 12v input? I have a vmount system and don't want to deal with yet another battery and charger that I don't already have. I've seen that people hack dummy batteries for it, though I still don't know why they need to be hacked. TILTA SUCKS at replying to emails and if you hear from them it's once and only once every 24 hours.
No, you cannot - they will compete with each other and you will lose calibration. You have to calibrate each one to the lens, so once you calibrate say the wheel, if you go and calibrate the advanced handle, you lose the calibration on the wheel. However, you can get used to the workflow and can easily switch between using the front mounted wheel and the side mounted handle in about 60 secs. You just power on which one you want to use, wheel or handle, and make sure the other is powered off. You just pull the motor off of the teeth of the lens, spin the wheel or handle to the start/min position, turn lens to the min focus, engage the motor back to the teeth on the lens, hit calibrate on the wheel or handle, slowly spin the focus wheel until you hit infinity, then hit calibrate again, and you're done.
@@MOMENTSbyRonSonedecker thanks for more information! how about two nucleus nano motor one focus and one for zoom in my 70-200 lens wirelessly using two handwheel in different channel?
@@renatopico7282 I believe others have connected two nano-wheels to two motors, but I'm not sure about the wireless performance. One thing you could do is have a nano-wheel and a motor for the focus, and an advanced side handle and second motor for the zoom - the advanced side handle is a WIRED connection so there is no wireless interference. You could also have two advanced side handles and two motors, one combo for focus and one combo for zoom.
Hello friend, just a little question. I got the same handle for the left side but a voltage issue. It delivers about 5V only to my nucleus N. Got it replaced by tilta and the new handle has the same issue. Tested on several V-mount and NP-F batteries. Does your Nano recieve 7-8V?
That’s a good question, as far as I know my friends Nano (in the video it’s his z-cam and nano) does receive 7-8V and this setup was working flawlessly
Regular port? You mean DC port? You need to know these stuff if you're trying to do a review LOL There are two ports, I see a USB Type C and a DC port, is the DC port a 2.1mm jack? Will this power the motor and control the motor at the same time while the USBC controls the camera? Is there an available link to purchase this jack to control the motor? On their website, the LANC control is available tilta.com/shop/advanced-side-handle-run-stop-cable-for-2-5mm-lanc-port/
The DC port is a 3.5mm x 1.35mm female port. If you plan on using the grip with the Nucleus Nano-M motor with Focus + Run/Stop function: connect via USB-C (grip) to microUSB (motor), then connect via TRRS (motor) to your Camera (this cable needs to purchased according to your camera model). If you plan on using the grip with Run/Stop function only: connect via USB-C (grip) to your Camera (this cable needs to purchased according to your camera model) Tilta has 3 Run/Stop to Camera cables available @ the moment: Sony, Red Komodo & LANC
You should probably read the manual or watch a video on how to calibrate it with a photo lens. What you are doing is just ridiculous and not very accurate. There is a procedure, and you should learn it. Especially if you are going to push such nonsense on unsuspecting watchers.
In his defense, Tilta actually recommends the way he shows in the FAQ section of their website and in their older printed manuals. However, their more recent support video on their site shows the more "civil" way of detaching the motor from the teeth, setting the min focus on lens and wheel, reattaching the motor, starting the calibration, spinning the wheel to infinity, then stopping the calibration.
@@MOMENTSbyRonSonedecker What ever, I purchased my Tilta nano almost 2 years ago and I never seen wrong information on how to calibrate it. This video came out a couple months ago. There is no defense for him. Come on... Expect and push for better from people.
@@godboy159 I understand your point. I was merely pointing out that the manufacturer themselves currently on their website advocates for this method. On the Nucleus Nano sales page, under FAQs, under "How do you calibrate lenses that do not have hard stops?", Tilta's answer is "One way to calibrate photography lenses or any lenses without hard stops is to perform the automatic calibration but manually stop the lens with the motor attached at the Minimum and Maximum to help it register those points, this will not damage the motor or the lens, it should not take much force. If for some reason the motor does not stop at your hard stops or when held at the min or max manually there is something wrong and you should stop immediately to avoid any damage." As such, I have already pointed this out to Tilta as I've seen several videos that have shown people doing it this way unfortunately. So I do agree to expect and push for better from people, and IMHO that should also stand true for the manufacturer themselves (probably more so).
@@MOMENTSbyRonSonedecker Weird. I looked up the manual on the Tilta site to learn how to do it. I have to do it everytime because I forget how to do it and I've never seen it done that way. Great! what did you use to mount it? Its best to show everyone how this is being rigged on the E2.
Good review. But I couldn’t stop looking at your Superman curl in your hair. It’s mesmerizing.

It does work with focus by wire. I use it all the time with my RF 28-70 on my R5 and C70.

No idea to be honest
