I travelled from Toronto to London to see them live this summer and the show exceeded my extremely high expectations - I hope you get the chance to see them some day. The crowd was also a good split of girls and guys so you'll fit right in!
You should totally watch their One Night Only concert at the O2. It was so good and you could tell how much it meant to them as well. Emotional in moments as well! :)
I love seeing people discover bands and music that they grow to love! Good music should be authentic and McFly are one of the more honest and down to earth bands around. Love their stuff! Thanks for the video.
Love McFly, even wrote a fanfiction of them back in the day which i've recently rediscovered lol those were the days. My biggest regret was turning down a meet & greet with them in 2008! Love them all but Dougie has always been my favourite, definitely the most quiet and sensitive. I didn't know about the therapy, amazing to see
It's a long time since I read their autobiography but from what I remember Tom's bipolar disorder (which was undiagnosed at the time) had a real affect on the band when they were recording their second album and it's part of what actually fuelled some of his arguments with Harry. He had really terrible depression at the time, which was then made worse as, around the same time, he basically stopped eating. He was known as the fat one in the band and became obsessed with that and the idea of losing weight. He would have a coffee and a muffin in the morning and not eat for the rest of the day. He didn't get diagnosed though until 2011. After seeing Stephen Fry's documentary of living with bipolar disorder, he realised he wasn't just extremely emotional, that he had an actually diagnosable condition. He said he cried with relief watching it.
To add to the comment about Tom being diagnosed with bipolar. They officially mentioned it in their book Mcfly-Unsaid things...Our story which came out in 2013. They go into Dougie's addiction in that too.
Dougie thought suggesting a break wasnt to do with him going to LA, he knew the band had stuff they weren't addressing so he thought a break would help them move on. But the guys took it the wrong way. The break did nothing good for Doug as you find out. He felt like he messed everything up and had no communication skills in that sense to address anything. Nothing to do with narcism, more anxiety and dealing with rejection and confrontation
You should listen to their kids playing their songs! MCBABY is the cutest lol. I've been a fan since the begining of the band and made my whole family love them too. My sisters, husband and my parents are all coming with me to their next concert here in Brazil (they've been here a few times and have a houge fanbase) . Even my nephew sings their songs all the time 💚

the “Galaxy Defenders” comes from the lyric in their song “star girl”
