Tabula Rasa if you respond to Black Lives Matter with “All Lives Matter” then yes, you are racist, because you fail to acknowledge the oppression that the Black community faces and that research and data has backed up. All Lives Matter was never a saying, an org, nothing, until Black Lives Matter was created which again, shows that it was made with nefarious intent.
@@thaliap3125 no it doesn't make you racist to say "all lives matter" it's just asking you to think about the other people "Asians, Hispanic, middle eastern, etc" don't there lives matter too? if you say no then your the ones who are racist
Dorien is fed up with gloria lmao. Gloria literally said "no dorien you arent gonna talk because I'm still talking" and then interrupts him when he talks???? Lmao what
Yeah that's because everyone else is wrong except her, that's most people nowadays, she was adamant that those police officers have see abuse of power, like "ok lady, keep telling me what I've seen".
She kept disrupting a powerful and needed conversation with lots of different viewpoints. I think most of us viewers would’ve respected her points that she made more if she respected other people’s points too, even the ones that agreed with her. It seemed like any time someone said something, she had to argue it in an aggressive manner. Gloria has a story, but I can’t hear it over the anger in her heart.
Yeah, she was hypocritical. It's disappointing to see that she brought up good points to debate, but didn't want to see or acknowledge what the other viewpoints were. Her attitude was distasteful and disrespectful.
@@ssaturn I agree that she could have been more polite but tbf to her, no one was being polite to her. Its exceedingly hard to ignore disrespect so I dont blame her for losing her temper and respect for people who were not only disregarding multiple valid points but also disrespecting her.
Ethan Hayes hey! I really liked your view points on things, a lot of them sharing my own. I loved you sharing your opinions and standing up for what you believe in in the best way!💕💕

Black lives may matter, but whiny self made victims lives don't... and neither do their families, pets, or anyone whom they've ever broken bread with.
The young black dude gets it. He is willing to talk, and willing to listen. The Latina woman is willing to do nothing but protest. She has no concern for listening. She only wants people to listen to her. I , personally, would be against her, and her alone.
I'm black and I fully supported the BLM movement, but I was never a huge fan of the whole ACAB stuff. I don't understand how you can even come to the conclusion that every single cop in existence is objectively evil just because they are cops. And most cops join the police because they legitimately want to help and protect people. Idk it just seem very systemic and prejudicial to me, and if the whole point of BLM was to protest agaisnt bigotry and prejudice, then I don't think that doing the exact same thing is really gonna help our cause.
@@AhseemCarter So males don't ever say anything out of feelings? Cuz I've heard a lot of men yell. And that feeling is anger. I don't like how "Women can't do [whatever] right, because they only act based on emotion" Like nah lol and men act the same too when something's gettin heated. You never meet a level-headed woman, or just don't have many female friends?
i really enjoyed hearing from Ethan. he remained respectful and open-minded to other viewpoints. overall, this was a really well-needed discussion :) empathy and communication is truly vital
Vard Ferd Ethan is like me we try to see both sides of things. We try to see both sides of the argument and that’s what’s going to help move things forward. Cuz honestly both sides can learn from each other!
It's amazing when you put five adults with differing viewpoints in a room together to just have a conversation. By the end of the video, those five managed to find common ground. This is why dialogue is so important.
@Nateplays The ironic thing is that all these comments condemning her for her alleged endorsement of looting are acting substantially more emotionally and irrational considering they aren't even engaging with her ideas. People are calling her a bad person and closed minded when nobody is even considering her POV when it comes to the subject of colonialism.
Most of gloria’s statements were conflicting with each other. At this point I have dismissed her opinion due to how her point of view is so one way. I don’t believe anyone is wrong in this whole protest sparking up and I hope we can come to an agreement . People like Gloria make the situation worse and make the BLM protest seem violent in the way that she condones violence.
Yeah, it was great seeing people be open minded, respectful of each other, and overall having a great conversation. I would say everyone demonstrated the same amount of respect towards each other (excluding gloria of course)
I was actually surprised he agreed, with how much passion he has for his job and the way he seemed at first. But it honestly gained a lot of respect from me that he was onboard with that narrative.
@Leeber Gruber How come police funding get increased while health, education and other important pulic spending gets cut all the time? To defund the police and redirect funds to other things makes sense unless we want expanding military police forces occupying their citizens with violence and terror.
daveruda defunding the police will simply make their job harder, like including non-lethal weapons. thus, meaning they’ll most likely use their service weapon and shoot on site bc they won’t have any other option. that’s just one a few reasons why defunding the police isn’t a good idea
She just wanted to be heard. She was probably hired by racists to poorly show what the movement is about so BLM gets less support. Jubilee should have remade this video with someone else.
@@benmyers8476 the issue is that there are people on that side who do think like her and have her views. It would have been disingenuous to not show those people exist.

6:13 imagine: a small-town person or immigrant has always dreamt of having their own shop or café, etc. and they finally get a chance to own their own business, then protesters come along and start looting, and vandalize the location, the shop owner has to pick up the pieces, even though they're just an innocent bystander, in this scenario. Is that okay ? Not to mention the fact that a lot of the times black people are being called “thugs” because looters decided to destroy the city. No, that's not okay. I strongly disagree.
THIS! My 70 year old grandmas alteration shop got looted and vandalized. She came to this country twenty years ago with nothing and worked to hard to start her business and make it successful, only to have ignorant ass people tear it all down in a matter of minutes. Worst part was, SHE WAS THERE while they broke in and looted the place, and she was obviously too scared and physically incapable of stopping them.
I have a friend with this exact situation. He had a small sandwich shop in Atlanta, GA. Some protesters came and destroyed his shop. H’s also black btw.
My first thought was that maybe he wanted more information about the case of her friend who was assaulted by a cop, because he wants to look into it and maybe get it reopened. (Edit: grammar)

I didn’t like how Gloria said that looting is ok because my business got looted and burned down and it was very hard to get everything back into control
The problem is most of the looters are not protesters, they are just taking advantage of it. EDIT: Thank you for spreading the message, together we can work to distance the great and hard work of peaceful protesters from the awful behavior of looters who simply use the opportunity to drag the media attention away from the real problem.

Unknown Chaos I disagree actually. Also; wtf are you talking about; "fight". Ya know there used to be a thing called "discussion". Crazy concept but if everyone agrees this is a bad thing and everyone wants to stop it; why aren't people just talking to find a good solution? Instead of, idk just yelling slogans and making noise. My theory is that people on that "side" (those who think violence can and *should* be used to stop violence) don't care about solving problems, they're just acting out the vengeful and monolithic nature of a mob. If you think, that this "fucked system" is so beyond repair that any and all methods should be utilized (I.e. ends justify the means) I recommend you stop talking. I can't even get into why that's such an arrogant/evil idea without producing a whole book of HORRIFIC examples. When you have people like Gloria in these types of talks you lose no matter what. She is so disconnected, uneducated, and wrong as a whole, you can never make true progress to bridge the gap
I think it shows we have more common ground when we all talk face to face instead of just watching shows like CNN. Gloria seems to be the one who prefers to watch CNN.
Gloria is when you have a write a 5 page essay, but you only have 2 pages worth of information that actually relates to the topic so you put stories from your life, put random quotes that just barely fit the topic, and site stuff that sounds smart to drag it out
Lol, I've done that tho, but I was at least on topic and saying relevant stuff, gloria is the person who writes about a dead pet when the essay is about Gorge Washington.
She gets her information from her life experience. You're right, I think therapy is important for everybody, if youre especially POC in this country, but especially especially if you're a WOKE POC who is fighting the good fight on the grounds trying to organize your community to push back against white supremacist system
@@Hi-ki4vo Yup! Like if the police force was just that, then why are there POC and black people working inside police force? Like it does not make sence.
All these comments are ridiculous cause you ignore the other two protestors that disagreed. Why does Gloria speak for all the defund the police people?
Gloria is also the person that who be fighting and resisting arrest and then get made of force is used. She is the person that only claims to be the victim. But she won’t take responsibility
I mean you have to understand that Gloria is native american. Her anger is valid because her people were killed, raped and beaten by colonizers. They used violence to harm groups of people. The police officers probably reminded her of that. People may be blinded by anger but that isn't her fault and she's smary enough for people to challenge her ideas even if you don't agree with her.
People like Ethan have genuinely helped me see the other side of the issue. People like Gloria are the ones that get people reactive and stuck in their ways.
I feel bad for her. I also say that she may be right to a degree as the officer said, corruption starts at the top and trickles down to the local level. I personally never had a bad encounter with law enforcement but another person may have had hellish experiences with them throughout their life. All we can do is improve what we have and if not then a complete overhaul is in order.
AgentRiley007 don’t you think it also boils down to the fact that she’s the one who gets into trouble. No one is forcing her to break the law. I’m not gonna feel sorry for her if she is literally doing it to herself. It’s not like she’s a victim of racism if she is doing something bad and gets arrested for it. That’s how it would be for any person no matter what color of skin you have. Last time I checked people of every race is rotting in jail and it’s not like people often get into jail without doing the crime that’s super rare. She did it to herself and I don’t feel sorry no matter how much she makes herself to be the victim.
Gloria is so disrespectful. She always on her phone anytime an officer was talking. She doesn’t want to listen to other perspectives or change, she just wants to argue and blame all her problems on others. Childish and an embarrassment for all the people who fight for change.... 🤦♂️
Icee A I’m sick of trying to defend Gloria it’s exhausting.. I don’t wanna hear comments about bashing Gloria. That isn’t helping the problem. By y’all talking about Gloria it’s taking attention away from the real deal. The racism problem and police brutality conversation that is being talked about in this conversation. It makes it seems like y’all just wanna pick at Gloria and bash her. Smdh
i think everyone can agree that there’s many good cops. the issue is that there shouldn’t be ANY bad cops especially in a job that’s meant to protect the community. also, the teacher analogy is right because there’s a massive generalization of cops but the difference is that teachers lose their jobs and usually can’t work or even be around children after their offense. there have been many cases where police brutality and sexual misconduct is swept under the rug and the cop can continue to work without any repercussions and if there are, they are minor and the officer can usually get another job
@Anna Smith a bad teacher might be pain in the ass in HS, a bad doc might be worst thing to deal with when ur sick... a bad cop can beat u up or murder u. they r not equivalent furthermore, if u encounter a bad teacher u can report them to the principal which will take action against them, and if that doesnt work ur parents can take legal action against them and have the teacher face the consequences of their actions. likewise a bad doc can be reported by malpractise and loose their license. cops should work the same way, they are not above the law and if they abuse their power, they should face the consequences of their actions...reality is they rarely ever do. if u report a cop's bad behavior, most often than not the other cops will burry that sh*t (like the hennessy's friend who was raped and the cop is still working as a cop and faced no consequences). and when they get charges pressed against them the union's will pressure courts to not take action against that specific cop. and even when this doesnt dissuade the courts they are almost never able to convict police officers cuz of qualified imunity. this all leads to cops being effectively untouchable, they can act the way they want, abuse their power, beat up people for talkign back or mudering people, cuz they know nothing will happen to them (besides a few desk weeks as a symbolic gesture). In a democracy that cant happen, all institutions, all branches at any level have to be acountable so that nobody can be above the law. we cant just be "thats life buddy", we gotta change things. sorry for the long post but this isnt a simple issue
well said. they got way too much power to be making mistakes like that. i think they should be held at an even higher standard than teachers cuz theyre job is literally to protect.
@Anna Smith I do have a feeling there are less bad doctors per capita than teachers and cops though. I think at the end of the day, it comes down to funding and resources. I have a very different perspective on education and policing because in my city in Canada, those are both well paying and noble professions and attract quality applicants for the most part
I am a 19 year old, so almost everyone I know is like Gloria. Sometimes, I feel really disheartened. Sometimes I feel guilty, like I'm not progressive enough for not supporting looting. I support the protests and the social change they will inevitably bring about. The Glorias of this world are aggressive and belligerent with their points and its scary. Empty vessels make most noise, I guess
I'm a few years older than you, and this is still very true. Being a minority and speaking for myself and telling others like her to not do so for me, my experience has been that they will show someone like me more animosity than anyone else. I don't get it. I'm really hoping that these people can find some degree of peace and nuance because the prospect of them becoming the next generation to hold political power like Baby Boomers do now is terrifying.
I get your point and feeling of not being progressive enough. In movements it is good to have a range of voices, which is why blm is not a centralized movement with a single leader. So it is good to think critically and not set your ideas in stone but listen to the reasons and arguments people put forth. When it comes to this person Gloria I didn't hear her as aggressive in this conversation, nor did I hear her actively supporting looting. I think she made or tried to make a point about understanding the economic reasons and environment that gives rise to that behavior. This idea of 'stolen land' or historical economic housing policies are real and still have discriminatory effects. Also I heard her being critical when it comes to rhetoric the specific association of looting and rioting with protest is racially charged. As it is mostly used to discredit the black lives matter movement as a whole and historically arguments and the narrative of rioting and looting have been used to describe, criminalize and delegitimize black protesters. I'd say listen to what people are saying, and as you state speak up against belligerent speech without immediately disregarding the content of what that person is saying. These are very complicated issues to deal with so everyone (and not just people of your age) is also continuously learning how to navigate heated conversations like these without personal judgements and attacks.
You have my sympathies. I can't imagine what it must be like growing up and becoming an adult in a world where the view that "you must support so-called 'minorities' even as they engage in criminal acts because opposing or even criticizing them would be 'racist'" is projected as being the norm. And while the people who hold such views decry what they (laughably) believe to be 'racism' as being the greatest crime of all, they simultaneously spend all day and night proclaiming that one race is responsible for all the evils in the world, that one race is 'the great oppressor' and that it is morally justifiable for that one race to be brutalized and victimized because of those reasons which stem from their own laughably biased view of history.
The Hillbilly, police brutality? The latest fbi data showed that out of 10,000,000 arrest, there were only 1000 cases where police had to use a lethal weapon. So I REJECT the statement that there is any police brutality.

Stolen land? The Mexican government signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. As a Mexican-American, I see “our land” was lost fairly and squarely. If you can’t defend what’s yours, it ceases to be yours. It’s cruel, but it’s nature. You won’t hear an antelope cry injustice as it dies in the jaws of a lion.
The conflict happening right now is the left vs. the hard left. The police and working class have been dragged into it. So of course the police and wanna see eye to eye.
The violent protesting is where the physical conflict is happening. All within hardcore blue Democrat cities. The left is eating itself alive, unfortunately this will be the death of businesses and people within cities such as what we're seeing in Seattle. Hey Gloria, what if people listen to the de-escalation tactics? This is the step before the police make a choice to use force. There are many instances in which people don't listen to and threaten police officers lives.
I don’t like the argument of stolen land for justifying looting. The people who created their business here aren’t the one who stole this land. And some of them probably don’t approve the fact that it happened. You can’t blame them.
I personally don’t condone looting small and independent businesses. And protesters in this case typically aren’t opportunistic and loot just for the fun. But I most definitely can understand destruction and defamation of things like confederate soldiers in the form of statues and such, out of anger. Because at the end of the day we’re human, and we’re tired of this. It’s been constant since we were brought here.
It's not a matter of blame it's a matter of responsibility. If you buy a used car from someone and then it turns out later that car had been stolen, you're not to blame for stealing it, but you should be responsible for giving it back.

She interrupted everyone several times with no apology...
My opinion: I saw someone consumed with hatred. So blinded with hate she can’t see beyond that.

Gloria really got mad that Dorien interrupted and apologized then proceeded to interrupt him right after.

i think everyone can agree that there’s many good cops. the issue is that there shouldn’t be ANY bad cops especially in a job that’s meant to protect the community.
also, the teacher analogy is right because there’s a massive generalization of cops but the difference is that teachers lose their jobs and usually can’t work or even be around children after their offense. there have been many cases where police brutality and sexual misconduct is swept under the rug and the cop can continue to work without any repercussions and if there are, they are minor and the officer can usually get another job
@Anna Smith a bad teacher might be pain in the ass in HS, a bad doc might be worst thing to deal with when ur sick... a bad cop can beat u up or murder u. they r not equivalent
furthermore, if u encounter a bad teacher u can report them to the principal which will take action against them, and if that doesnt work ur parents can take legal action against them and have the teacher face the consequences of their actions.
likewise a bad doc can be reported by malpractise and loose their license.
cops should work the same way, they are not above the law and if they abuse their power, they should face the consequences of their actions...reality is they rarely ever do. if u report a cop's bad behavior, most often than not the other cops will burry that sh*t (like the hennessy's friend who was raped and the cop is still working as a cop and faced no consequences). and when they get charges pressed against them the union's will pressure courts to not take action against that specific cop. and even when this doesnt dissuade the courts they are almost never able to convict police officers cuz of qualified imunity.
this all leads to cops being effectively untouchable, they can act the way they want, abuse their power, beat up people for talkign back or mudering people, cuz they know nothing will happen to them (besides a few desk weeks as a symbolic gesture).
In a democracy that cant happen, all institutions, all branches at any level have to be acountable so that nobody can be above the law. we cant just be "thats life buddy", we gotta change things. sorry for the long post but this isnt a simple issue
@Anna Smith i agree but there protected by law what change i wanna see is more training and police having to be accountable for there actions
well said. they got way too much power to be making mistakes like that. i think they should be held at an even higher standard than teachers cuz theyre job is literally to protect.
@Anna Smith I do have a feeling there are less bad doctors per capita than teachers and cops though. I think at the end of the day, it comes down to funding and resources. I have a very different perspective on education and policing because in my city in Canada, those are both well paying and noble professions and attract quality applicants for the most part
Here in Germany, a teacher that is hired by the state can't be fired if there wasn't a REALLY BIG incident like rape or sth like that.

Why are they protesting?

I'm just saying ppl fail to understand not every business has insurance or good insurance . So if their businesses get looted they better have big amount of savings in their account or they better get lot of donations in GoFundMe or they are fucked.
@@sailorsister211 Oh okay. That's understandable but my point was that I do not think your friend knows what they is talking about because not all plans cover looting. I guess you did mention that good ones do but what if they do not have a good insurance plan. As far as GoFundMe goes I mean that is just whether people donate to you or not so I do not think it is something business owners as a whole can rely on. Even if someone has a good plan, you have to think about how long it is going to take for the business to recover. Also, what about the stuff that was stolen at the stores? That isn't going to fully recover by any insurance. So idk what your friend is talking about but they sound very ignorant and heartless towards the owners. Many businesses have been shut down due to the riots. I highly doubt anyone is going to benefit from their business being looted, especially after COVID-19.

I don’t like the argument of stolen land for justifying looting. The people who created their business here aren’t the one who stole this land. And some of them probably don’t approve the fact that it happened. You can’t blame them.
I agree. Joe and his gas station didn’t have anything to do with the colonization of America
Agreed, I reeeally really tried to see her point but you can't compensate for a stolen land and injustice by looting gucci or whatnot?
It's not a matter of blame it's a matter of responsibility. If you buy a used car from someone and then it turns out later that car had been stolen, you're not to blame for stealing it, but you should be responsible for giving it back.
Plus, in history, we've seen that only works in the short term before there's more consequences.
