      "Now the old threaded bottom bracket... in my opinion, a well manufactured press fit is far superior. ...you have to remember that the threaded cup that you are threading into your frame has got the bearing pressed into it so why are you replicating that? The only reason you are replicating that is because you are admitting that you can’t make that (press fit) interface to the required accuracy and repeatability. By going back to a threaded bottom bracket, you are basically saying that we don’t have the ability to manufacture this part at this accuracy and repeatability and still maximize our profit... there is no technical reason why it is better.”

    My summary of the fallacies of Specialized:
    '45 seconds faster' is a bad way of putting it; there are no other given units (for what speed over what terrain, if real world?), tested in their own wind tunnel (not independently, even the video clips show the riders head on as well) without realistic factors (rider on the bike, wheel combos) etc. Also, the graph they show has no axis units (so there's no way of telling the margin of improvement against other bikes, plus how are those measured? Probably in a weird condition where their bike is faster). The graph also shows that the bike is a compromise of both bikes (heavier than the SL6, less aero than the venge). None of it makes scientific sense, it's all cheeky testing.
    And yep, going back to an old type of BB after their faith in press fit proves that if they were wrong in the past with that, they could well be wrong now.

      They are trying to convince their consumers, that having one bike is best, but really they are probably trying to cut down on manufacturing costs, by reducing the different types of frames they have to produce.

    • @franciss2529
      @franciss2529 4 года назад +1

      @@binkzera2777 Manufacturing costs wouldn't be the problem- once they've got the moulds for the frames then they're dead cheap to make in the factories. It's the design, testing and marketing that are the biggest costs. Also, their older models and former knowledge means that their design process is relatively cheap too. All in all they're just making bigger profits with cheaper costs and cheeky (but I'll admit, clever) marketing.

    • @binkzera2777
      @binkzera2777 4 года назад +2

      Francis Schofield Moulds are expensive af though, but I guess you’re right. The thing that annoys me, is that they try to pass a bike, which is clearly a compromise, off as though it’s not a compromise. An all out aero bike, is the faster bike, on flat courses. It makes sense for most consumers to just have one bike, and I’m not mad about that, just that it’s misleading marketing. Who am I kidding though, I wasn’t gonna buy a venge, and I’m not gonna but this.

    Can anybody tell me if the Tarmac SL7 seatpost has the same cross sectional dimensions as last year's SL6? I'm trying to get a gopro mount for the seatpost for my SL7.

      No, the SL7's seatpost depth is greater than the SL6's.

    Hey Chris You, Nice video, but what's the point for the detailed video of your company and the hype with the bike when I have bought a bike early May and I haven't seen it yet? Yes I purchased a bike early May and was promised to have it in my hands a week after purchase. After many weeks, the store Safety Cycle finally told me it's out of his hands. I tried calling you guys with all the numbers I can find and even emailed you guys but to no avail. I finally got an email that I will be contacted but that was like 6 weeks ago and no contact yet. WTF

    “Fastest for any course” “no compromises” But it’s still slower than the Venge, on flat courses, right? That’s called compromising, wth Specialized?
