Even from the first scene, just rich boy Ethan playing rich boy games. He announced at his birthday party that he was marrying another woman. Elizabeth just got tired of his games, calculated and made a better life for herself. (Good for her)

FL knows what she wants. She was brought up as a strong business woman. Ex wasn't a good match for her from the start. FL saw his potential when she approached him, but he was complacent and didn't grow as a person or as a businessman. He remained immature and irresponsible, no match with the FL's personality and life goals. Although FL and ML's relationship was transactional at first, they're compatible as they speak the same language - business, and think the same way - analytical. To some viewers it may seem cold and calculating, but in reality, for rich people business always comes first, love is a pleasant bonus.
I can understand Elizabeth but I also don’t- I get she is the “President” of her own company but her inserting benefits and interests in her personal life is just a bit ridiculous.
Now, don’t get me wrong.. Ethan was quite absurd with how he went about trying to get a reaction out of her, a reaction that showed she cared about him even if it was small but it’s also her fault.. she treated him as a business transaction, put on a caring show in public but out of the public eye she treated him less than, cold.
If Ethan didn’t come up with such a whacked idea he would’ve been a decent man to have; he comes from a wealthy background and is also the President of his own company, though a bit immature but she believed him to be less than her, never tried to even build a emotional connection with him or anything… like she did with Lucas, their marriage was for business, for interest and benefits but she doesn’t mind if they develop feelings, doesn’t mind having more of a connection.
She has standards which I also get, it’s good for a woman to have standards and honestly.. they don’t make a good match either way but to make yourself feel inferior to your partner is just crazy to me.
Ethan asked for the broken engagement, he asked for the break-up.. proposing to another woman just to get a reaction from his Fiancé was childish and not something a mature adult would do let alone a President but I sympathize with to a certain point; there is only so much one could take especially from someone you are suppose to marry.
Although he had some feelings for her they weren’t a fit, it shouldn’t have been so “messy” but he asked for it with his actions and choices.
