I'll give you my experience, cath lab nurse 5 years experience, went in to the lab as a new grad, ADN, making $175k/yr. my nursing program was free and was a life changing degree, i am forever greatful. I enrolled in the cheapest RN to BSN program i could 3 years into my career, took 2 classes and was shocked at how worthless and time wasting this entire endeavor was. At my hospital my boss calls the BSN the BullShit nursing degree and i agree with him. My time is to valuable to be spending typing away for hours upon hours to strangers about topics that don't mean anything for letters that don't mean anything. If it's not making me better at my craft or increasing my pay I'm not interested.

It's interesting that in the areas on the diagram by region you showed, the areas generally with the highest RN BSN salaries have seen the sharpest decline in enrollment. Could it be the cost to attend these programs are too astronomical so if you are already an LPN or RN ADN you are content with your salary versus the additional debt you would incur by obtaining additional education?

In my hospital, the only reason most nurses get their BSN is because the hospital pays for it. And even then, I think more and more nurses are dismayed by the ridiculous curriculums that have them writing nonsensical papers and coming away with little to no advanced medical/nursing knowledge (in my opinion).
