Regardless of whether this release is good or bad in users opinions - I'm just glad this device is being spoken about in terms of software rather than the usual 'thats so thin'!
Mine arrived this morning onto my P90. Obvious visual differences to me was the font change to the clock. The calendar does have the additional element for schedules but I doubt I will ever use. The translations from Chinese to English is something these companies need to work on more for international users. This is not a unique problem for Honor as I have experienced the same with Fiio and other brands. So far the update is stable and installed in less than a couple of minutes which was surprising.
Just ordered this phone 😊 really wanted the vivo fold 3 pro but i need android auto so only decent foldables that cmhave this in the UK are the one plus open and the honor magoc v2. I went for the honor over the one plus for screen size and how thin the phone is. Im not one for taking images so that doesnt bother me as the one plus is better in that aspect but id say the honor seem the better phone overall for my uses. Was a tough choice 👍
Good luck with a stable connection using Android Auto. I have daily drop outs even though I've updated to Android 14 and Magic OS 8. Great phone though and much nicer to use than my Fold V
@@K22MDL had it for 2 weeks now and I use android auto daily, not had any problems yet. Have you tried a new cable? I had issues in the past and its always been the cable 😊
Guys anyone brave enough to remove the inner film already? I removed mine from F5 on 2nd week as it was super glossy and disgusting and here I am 11 months after with perfectly intact screen still. Now I read on Reddit that film can bubble on honor and that removing it can cause screen malfunction (which are probably just scare stories or someone was very quick when peeling it off and damaged screen) and I am planning to remove mine. I will let you know how it goes. Phone should arrive next week.
I did the exact same thing. I have the X100 Pro global and an S24 Ultra. I love the Vivo, but I love my Galaxy just a little bit more so I put the Vivo up for sale. I was going to get the Z Fold 6 but that outer screen is still a bit too narrow for me personally so I ordered a V2 global and can't wait to try it out.
A few months back you said that this phone was "severely held back" by OS (pre Magic OS8). now with the update to OS8, is it still being held back? Is more intuitive? Or maybe it's just a cosmetic update? Thanks. Love your content.
@@racingpixel8237 it seems a lot better so much so that I am actually using it as my daily driver. So much nicer than the Fold V in every day use but still getting Android Auto disconnecting but far less. Another area I am disappointed with is the poor colour balance of the cameras. Reds for example always have a horrible pinkish hew to them. The Samsung seems to get it pretty well bang on but the Honor spoils the image when red is the predominant colour, ie a colour of a car for example.
I'm disappointed with this OS8 release. Honor has removed Network Neighbourhood from the files app in recent releases meaning you can no longer share files across the network. Annoying as I have an old Magic 5 lite that has this feature and makes my V2 seem crippled. Furthermore the Video editing has also taken a big step backwards as you cannot add more than one line of edits at the same time, eh only one text box and nothing else. Again phones from years ago from Huawei/Honor could do this just fine. Still no APTX Lossless support either and not a single decent actual AI feature for editing photos or adding effects. This device feels way behind Samsung and OnePlus Open. The on screen track pad also doesn't work with Kodi properly when displaying on an external screen. Still buggy as hell.
@@JMTMarc go back a few years and Huawei were making almost perfect devices. Mate 20X had software in 2018 that's almost identical to what this is running in 2024. In fact in video editing it did more. I still have it. Even the screen is bigger when watching a movie in landscape in 16x9.
I have 2 question about the force Landscape, Can you do horizontal splitscreen in this new update? Can you check in Developers option if they still dont allow Free Form Windows? This is for allowing resizing the floating windows. This is a key feature missing in this phone.
I would love to see a dirt/water test resistance since it doesn't have IP rating but I believe can handle a few drops of rain or some dust. Be careful though to use the case that comes with the phone. I find that little scratches on the exterior screen when you unfold and fold the phone since the part that covers the hinge rubs against the the exterior screen. Other than that, amazing device! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ok. I was thinking of F6 from F5 but here I am. I am not paying over 2k for basically same but a bit refined phone. Slow charging, same battery capacity and same cameras (which are very average) killed the F6 for me. Ordered V2 from Spain for 1200 euro, 16/512 the leather thingy. Let's see. I think many of the bugs are gone as its been some time. But maybe not everything is as polished as Samsung. And its ok. I will give it a try. Thank you for your videos.
I have a question. When i get a message on whatsapp, viber etc.. and i tap on it to open, it opens in a windowed mode. Is there a option to set it like to always open on full screen ?

I love both the V2 and the 6 Pro. If camera an durability are very impor for you, consider the 6 Pro. However the is so special with its thin design and now it also has some features that before only the 6 had, like magic capsule and magic portal.
Am i the only one who notices the animation stutters? It's not that smooth. I also noticed the same thing when i tried out an honor200 store display. I thought the 120hz refresh rate was disabled, but it's turned on....
At 6min 48, before, when using splitscreen, choosing an app will consume half of the screen and list of apps will be shown on the right side for you to choose, but now it slide all the way to inner left screen just like on your vid. Did they change that? Or is there a setting that can change the way it behaves?
@JMTMarc mine behaves the same. Whether i use gesture or the one where you have to choose split,fullscreen or floating. It always slide at the inner left. Before it wasn't though.

Unfortunately thats still not possible. The camera can be launched by double pressing the volume down button. It's called Quick Launch in the settings.
Can someone test the do not disturb feature. Is it still useless and allows notifications to still come through? This is the main reason why I returned my V2... Would love the DND to function like Samsung's.
And...That's That. My Magic V2 inner display just decided to self destruct when I opened my device. I was using it fine 30 seconds before and then I opened it and the screen was flickering with 2 spots at the bottom of the display and a green line up the side. Now it's a write off. Honor will replace the display they said but I have to pay £50 as it's part of the screen replacement insurance they gave at launch. Still annoyed because it killed itself and wasn't dropped by me or anything. Buyer beware this is beyond fragile. It's unfit for purpose.

I really appreciate them. with regards to the Honor magic V2, I had previously purchased one but fairly quickly returned it because it would not support a game I play going into horizontal split screen sadly. however, your portion of the video at 7:15 has me very curious if this is the update that I needed to be able to horizontally split screen the app with RUclips for example. would you be kind enough to check out opening RUclips and the game for me? the app of the game is called old school runescape. I would be very curious to see if it comes up as an option in that settings menu from that portion of your video and if it can be horizontally split screened like so. I would seriously appreciate you checking this out for me, I will literally buy the device back if it can do this. thank you very much!

If this had Samsung One UI. I would have gotten this phone day one. It's a shame Samsung is still sticking with the same narrow outer screen for the Fold 6.

Install the Honor Suite on your PC & connect your V2 to the PC - then follow the instructions very carefully & it will install V8 and Android 14. Make sure you have at least 3-4 hours to spare - that's how long it takes to install!!!

No phone is perfect... That's just how it is. It also depends a lot on the specific use cases.

It depends on how you trigger split screen view. When you use a gesture, it will behave like I showed in the video.

Look into the homescreen settings, there is a auto-align option.

I obviously installed the beta, they call it 'try out version", but they should also be in the process of rolling out the official version.
