- It´s official we will see Deep Forest Raceway in GT7 again. So this will be one of a few tracks that made appearance in every main title of Gran Turismo. See the evolution of this iconic Gran Turismo track from Gran Turismo 1 to Gran Turismo 7 which will be released in March 2022.
All footage recorded from original PS3 60GB hardware (no emulators etc.) with regular copies of GT1, GT2, GT3, GT3, GT4, GT5, GT6. Recorded with Elgato HD60.
Wheel I used for GT3-GT6: Logitech G25
For GT Sport I´m using the Fanatec CSL Elite PS4 + Clubsport Pedals V3.

The leap from PS1 to PS2 has got to be the most impressive of all console iterations

@@TheRageLivesOn for generations I disagree with this. Looks the difference between GT6 and GT Sport there is huge improvement. (Cars, lighting, sound, world, weather, textures etc…).
That generation was absolutely insane. Maybe it's because I was a kid but the PS2 was on fire and than when the og Xbox launched the level of visual quality was absolutely insane at the time. Unlike these days back than consoles had tech that wasn't even available on pc. Good times.
After 20 years I'm still astonished by the way Gran Turismo 3 looks. GT Sport and GT7 may have A or A+ graphics but man, GT3 has aged like a fine wine

I miss the dense canopy of trees with light breaking through in the GT3 version.
Same, it gives such a classic look, but it feels like you're more on a mountain range than in a traditional forest.
For me 1 and 2 had a better atmosphere because of the sunset
Agree. For a deep forest route, you want to feel like you are deep in the forest. Sunlight breaking through the overgrown canopy 👌. More generally on racing sims, it is amazing how tech has evolved.
Looking at back at all the Deep Forest tracks takes me back. Still feels like yesterday when I was racing back in the older ones. I will say GT3 looks best for Deep Forest.
GT3 has probably the best art direction of the entire series. GT5 and GT6 look so pale with blown out highlights. I used to think those games look stunning, but looking back it's GT3 that looks the best. GT7 also looks great. GT3's rendition of Deep Forest is easily the best. I wouldn't mind GT7's version if they tweaked the tree canopy and maybe sorted out the last sector a bit.
GT2 and GT3's graphics were impressive for their time
After 20 years I am still wholeheartedly in love with Gran Turismo. It is a perfect example of what you can create if you devote your whole self into what you love. Thank you, Polyphony and the GT family
After GT3 they started removing the trees from above the track.. which is an iconic part(s) of the map. Pretty sad honestly GT3 had the best looking version

I remember watching the pre-rendered races in GT1 wondering if actual gameplay will ever look this good. Here we are in 2022 and it actually looks much better...
The general consensus seems to be that whoever's been maintaining the track has cut the trees back too much and has the power to move a giant rock.
Man, GT3 just give me goosebumps. What a game, what a track, what a change.

The first Gran Turismo was so revolutionary and AWESOME.
Considering the consoles, GT5 was a masterpiece in graphics and far ahead of its time. When it comes to gameplay, GT4 is undefeated.
I like GT7 change but GT3-GT4 the best for me

Deep Forest was iconic for the overhanging trees and all the bumps and gravel next to the racetrack. Moreover the last 3 corners before start/finish divided between good and great drivers. I like many things about GT7 but why do you have to rip out the soul of the racetracks to make them look more realistic? These are original tracks, they should look arcade, wild and fun 😢

Looking at the different walls at the end of the long straight before the newly hairpin and the litttle road cut by a wall before the pit lane entry tells me that probably they kept the og layout but again IM NOT 100% SURE
I prefer the old ones too for it's massive elevation compared to this. But I don't mind it. It's still has the same flow design as the old one. It's a very neat return to the GT Franchise

I remember a UK PS2 advert that showed a car rolling to a stop on track and just sitting there to admire the view, with the birds tweeting and the engine idling.
I bought one (that I couldn't really afford) not long after.
I have spent so much time with GT3 and GT6. What really impresses me is how nicely GT3 holds up in this comparison. I cannot wait to get my hands on GT7, pretty sure this will be great.
I made the jump, and ordered the new gt pro, and a set of the club sport v3 inverted pedals from fanatec. Can't hardly wait.

If you really grew up with it the revolution is much more intense then it looks like in this youtube video. I am build 85 and I can remember as teenager and later adult how big the changes was from gt2, gt3, gt4, gt5... Everytime amazed when seeing the newest version for the first time... Biggest emotions I had as a kid when I saw the first time gt3 for ps2 running on a tv in demo mode in front of a window of an electronic shop...
I always remembered 3 as my favourite and this reminded me of why.
It's the only one that really lived up to the "Deep" name.
GT6 started to head back in the right direction and now it's just kinda sad again.
I heard that the Japanese made a hillside with a forest on it, to accurately depict this race course. Great work guys.
GT7's version is legitimately incredible, simply because of the run out of the hairpin into T1. You can bet there will be some incredible finishes there
GT2 to GT3 is amazing you really appreciate just how much more capable the PS2 was :)
Only ever played GT1 and GTS, I remember this track
I first mixed the track up with trial Mountain which I liked more, but then watching it I started even remember like muscle memory from gt3:the first corners where you had to be patient with the speed and the last corners where with perfect timing you could let the car loose side traction while already accelerating and building up higher speed. That felt rewarding!
Had this track and at least 2 others, under 1 min with F/094 and F/090 open wheel cars in GT4. Over two years living with 2 friends, we amassed over 2,000 days racing, $16million (all earned, not game sharked) and over 75 cars in the garage, burning out two Playstation consoles in the process.......
I'm happy, that deep forest remake made it in GT7

I see there's quite a difference on the old and the new one. The new one has a better flowing corners (except the turn that led into a long straight) but the old ones is a lot more thrilling due to its massive elevation changes compared to the new one. And it's a lot more open which defines the name of "Deep Forest Raceway" (or probably not since the second sector does feel like deep forest much like the ones at the nuburgring norschleife). But it's a welcoming return to kick off the nostalgia feeling into it. Appreciate your comparison.

I like GT3's version of Deep Forest and Trial Mountain best. But the new versions of both tracks in GT7 are definitely pretty cool

I miss the overhanging trees and the volumetric light (which could be so cool on PS5 and show the full power) in the trees and the "shortcuts" ... I went always so hard left under the trees on the left turn after the second tunnel ...
also under the trees into the straight before the gallery ... felt like half of an offroad track GT2 & GT3 Versions were the best ... you could use all the curbs to its fullest ... the more forresty ones have more atmosphere ... now it looks like any other track :(
It still has its predecessor prowess in the forest section. I like the way it looks. Although I must say the overhanging trees should return

The older Deep Forest tracks had the look and feel of a closed road course, kinda like the Nurburgring, but smaller.
The newer versions just look straight up like a generic racetrack by comparison.

Am i the only person who loved the New GT7 layout? For me, the track nos is way more technical, the last sector is amazing!

Wow, I didn't expect that GT7 looks so flat, there's almost no contrast and a hole lot of trees are missing. The rocks just before the last tunnel always scared me, I hit them so hard so often. Now some fluffy fences and a little meadow, how nice. DF used to be a tunnel in the trees, now it's just a boring track. Unimpressed.
It's the most sterile version ever, an obvious decline from previous versions of the track that had so much more character.

What blows my mind is that in 1997 they had ai that could drive as good as a human.
I've always been more keen to play GT4, but seeing these graphics I'll fire up GT3 again soon. Never realized that there was this much difference and tbh GT3 has the better atmosphere in this track. And the best in the series

My favourite version of deep forest was racing in reverse on Ps1
Gran turismo 3 was the biggest step compared to how much the game moves. It has gotten more polished, and a bit better at the simulation bit.
But it had the most competitive cars in each race and such cool cars to choose from.

My friends and I called it Deep minge.
One of my favourite tracks in GT3 its fast and flowing especially in the F1 cars around 50 seconds or less. I would just do lap after lap after lap in time trial shaving a couple of thousandths off every 100 laps if I was lucky.
Wow. I just watched 25 years of my life flash by. 😃 I've enjoyed every minute playing this game over the years. 👍🏼 Should of tossed in the PSP version for shits and grins. Always been a fan of GT3.
GT3 was the best version because I was much younger when I played it. I woudl hate to be in my 20's now.

Graphics wise, the ps3 ones were literally gt4 (ps2) with more textures. The ps2 games had so much better graphica than the ps1 ones. Amazing. I still love GT1 tho, my first gran turismo

DT3 gave the better handling and taught the value of throttle control. It wasn't reliant on full throttle all the time.
I played Gran Turismo 2 and 3 extensively. I started with GT1, and kind of ended with GT4. I played GT5 and GT6 a few times. I pre ordered GT7. Hoping to get back into it.
GT2 and GT3, are really what I have the most experience with on this track. I think I liked GT3's version of the track, mostly because of the graphic jump.
I'm trying to remember what consoles they were on. I think GT1 and GT2 were on the PS1, then GT3, and GT4 on PS2. Then a long wait for GT5 on the PS3. That wait is what killed it for me. By the time it came out, I wasn't very interested. then GT6 on PS4.
I had a Japanese imported game for my chipped PS1 back before GT1 was out in the UK. I thought it looked amazing then, fek me. I only play Assetto Corsa now on my pc and I have a few of the Gran Turismo tracks for it. Deep Forest was and is one of my faves...
