This is the most affirming video ever! Me and my girlfriend felt embarrassed by how many times we went to get these wings when we were in Thailand considering how many other amazing food options there are everywhere. But honestly, they are unreal. Thanks for the validation we will definitely be making these.
My wife grew up in Chiang Mai, Thailand (we're New Zealanders), she never stops talking about all the food she ate over there including and especially the KFC (and khao soi). I have gotten to make her so many of her childhood favs because of your channel! Thai KFC is definitely next on the list! 🥰
OMG- so many creative uses for this seasoning came to mind! Toss shrimp tempura, fried calamari, dust fresh popcorn, sprinkle a little on a fried egg that tops noodle or rice dishes. Making a batch today! Your channel always inspires!
The Southeast Asian KFCs are very good in creating new flavoured products that would become national sensations such as in Thailand and also Malaysia. This recipe is so mouthwatering Pailin!
No way!!! After moving back to England from Thailand 4 years ago, I had basically resigned myself to the fact that I will never have these wings again until I go back to Thailand. Now I don't have to wait. Thank you so much! They are not the best wings in Thailand, they are simply the best wings. Keep doing what you do Pai, it's amazing for people like me who know what authentic Thai food tastes like but just can't get it in our own countries. I know this might not be classed as "authentic" but oh my Buddha does it make me think of Thailand. By the way, have you ever done a Hokkien Mee or Bai La recipe? I'd love to see how you would go about making them. Thanks again, all the best from The Lake District.
I made this and I have to say…it’s now going to be a staple recipe in the family. I only made 5lbs of wings for my big family, thinking not everyone will eat it and they were gone 5mins after putting it on the table. Lol Thank you for the recipe!
I lived in Thailand for a short period of time 10 years ago and there was a KFC 2 minutes away from me. I was so addicted to these wings I had to physically slap myself out of it. At that time they came out with the new wing bucket and my obsession got even worse lol I tell everyone I know how good KFC is in Thailand. Been meaning to recreate this recipe so thank you so much. Sincerely. I can finally get my fix!
I tried this recipe and it tastes EXACTLY like our wing zap KFC in Thailand. I live in london and couldnt find lime powder. So we used Tajin instead cause it contains dehydrated lime. It work perfectly fine! Thanks Pailin
This was really good! Was not able to find lime juice powder, but dehydrated lime slices and used citric acid. Will make again, because I made too much magic dust :D
Swaddi Krub Khun Pai! Thank you very much for this recipe for I don’t intend to go to KFC any time soon, even in Thailand! Your fried chicken look so scrumptious and the background music makes me look forward to going back home in December!Yay!🎉
I was in Thailand in August and saw many KFC restaurants but didn't go in. I just happen to buy a bag of Yummy brand chicken wing powder from Mako and I'm so glad I did. It was a spontaneous buy but the seasoning powder was so good. So glad I bought it. Now I'll never run out because Pai shared it.
I loved this! Tasted closely like wing zabb at home! I just came back from Thailand after not seeing my family almost in 7 years. I'm autistic and often struggle to eat and remember my aunts and uncles would always buy/find a KFC near by for me when if I'm having a difficult day. It's such a warm memory to me, def when I'm feeling homesick
I've tried many Fried chicken recipes over time and all have been very disappointing, BUT I cooked your version yesterday, what can I say "exceptional" what a change, juicy, the right spice, flavour & crunch. Thanks heaps for sharing.
Just cant wait to test this! Living 8000 km from Thailand I almost considering flying over just for a KFC wing zabb meal 😂 Really excited to try this reciepe 😍
The seasoning of the coating is the typical limited edition of KFC menu here in Malaysia. It has sweet, sour, salty, tangy, and a bit of crunch from the toasted rice. 😊
OMG I love these!!!! I have to get them every time I’m there. My last fill was August… and Im ready and waiting for my next in December!!! I hope they never stop selling these. Amazing!!! 😂
Thank you so much for this recipe, Pailin. I tried this recipe today, it was an instant hit. This is an amazing recipe. Thank you for bringing this recipe to us with your own version. Definitely recommend others to try this.
I love Zab wings at KFC, but they are a bit too spicy for me. I limit myself to just three. Having a recipe is nice so I could adjust the heat. I love the sour flavor, I think regular citric acid powder would work as a replacement for lime powder in case people cannot find it.
This recipe sounds great! Can't wait to try it. Also, I live the Athletic Brewing beers. I found them a year or so ago. Live Upside Dawn, but the Cervesa Athletica is my favorite. They have great one ones that are online only, but my local Walmarts carry 2 or 3 varieties like Upside Dawn.
KFC in india is so amazing too. Their wings and popcorn are not very spicy but they are coated in an extremely umami seasoning and they have really really spicy grilled legs and thighs. They also have seasoned rice which is shockingly good
Saw in your grocery shopping video that you were Canadian. I’m from Alberta and adore Thai food, we have a restaurant here that sells cans of massaman and panang curry and it is amazing. Gave you a subscription so I can do some dishes on my own more in the future. Thank you
Congratulations on a truly enjoyable channel Pailin. Your advice is always effective. However, if I may be so bold as to suggest: Mixing your dry ingredients and Chicken in a plastic bag. Shake, shake, pat, pat, and you won't feel as though your Airway's Mucosa has been stripped away. It is also possible to achieve a Deep-Fried effect with an Air Frier. I like to soak the chicken in Butter Milk for 4+ hours; Coat the chicken in Dry Mix with Panko Crumbs; Spray on Canola Oil and cook for about 15 mins at 190C. Hey presto. And it actually looks nice. Anyhow, keep up your good work. It's much appreciated.
I find double frying works for me. 1st fry in 2 batches to cook the wings. You can literally crowd the pan with both batches after letting it sit for no more than 10 mins in the second fry and then toss in the seasonings. Then serve.
Yeah, I too find it best to double fry. First time I made this I crowded the fry and the wings stuck a lot. And I used a smallish cast iron pot indoor. But lately I've ignored the winter and used my outdoor wok for frying these, so much better. Even if I must dress in winter boots and use mittens to not freeze my fingers off :D
The closest thing that I can think of to it is nashville chicken, but the lime powder sets it apart. Would definitely like to try this! It looks delicious!
My wife and I just got back from Thailand. We went to a KFC in Bangkok (Silom area) and the chicken was incredible! Very different from the US. Very spicy. We later went to a KFC in Chiang Rai (Central Plaza) expecting the same experience, but the chicken there was just like KFCs in the US.
Original recipe KFC is what made them a world wide success. Freshly fried thigh is one of the best on planet earth. Will try your recipe for zapp wings. Thanks. Peace!
This looks like Thailand's answer to Nashville hot chicken (which can be tossed with the spices dry, or wet, which uses some of the cooking oil mixed with the spices to coat the chicken).
Although your recipe is the true star of this video, I have to say I’m a True Lime fan too! I’ve been using it for years because access to *good* fresh limes is limited where I live. I love it in water (much more appealing than plain water 🤓) and pho. It’s way better than the bottled citrus liquids, and they also make lemon, orange, and grapefruit versions (in addition to fruity blends). Not affiliated 😂 just a fan of them and YOU!!
We were on holiday in Kuala Lumpur a few years ago. One evening after a few beers, we were walking home and felt hungry. The only place open was McDonalds. I never normally eat McDonalds, but needs must. I was extremely surprised to see them selling spicy coated chicken called Ayam Goreng. We live in the UK, McDonalds does not serve chicken here. The spicy chicken they served was some of the best chicken I have ever had, and I am a chicken nut. It was juicy, crispy and very spicy. If they sold that chicken here in the UK, they would put KFC out of business. Maybe you could look into Malaysian Ayam Goreng from McD's and try to create that. Thanks
I’ve left Australia once to New Zealand … anyway I would not have known that that fast food chains are different in different countries if it wasn’t for this video and comments. That’s interesting to know and exciting. 😃😜😜 Thanks for this video, it’s on my to cook list now !! Yum 😋 😊
Omg, so I guess I'm not the only one who goes to KFC for those wings every time I'm in Thailand!! Thank you so much for this recipe, Pailin. Will definitely be trying that!!!❤
I have just read in the website recipe that the breading uses fish sauce as listed in your ingredients. However I could not see it used in the method. Is it used at all? Could you please clarify, Pailin? It's such a beautiful recipe and I would like to make it just the way you had.
Hi! If you check out the written recipe the fish sauce is used with the wings rather than being added to the powder (which has to remain a dry ingredient) - see ruclips.net/video/24j7H2YBVUo/видео.html . Cheers! Adam
Can't wait to give your recipe a try! Fond memories of getting some of the extra-extra-hot wings at a Thai KFC ❤ ... the lady behind the counter asked me like 3 times if I was sure 😆 They were so good... me and my friends were almost crying 😅. Highly recommend getting some if you're not used to spicy food (yet) during a trip through Thailand🙃
Looks like I’m going to have to give this recipe a try! Tip: when you pour beer into a glass, tilt the glass so the “head” won’t take up 2/3 of the volume 😊
This recipe sounds great! The one thing I'm surprised of is that the spice mix goes on the finished wings, somehow I expected it to go directly on the uncooked wings before the coating with the flour/cornstarch mix.
Hi! She generally suggests not using dried or powdered ingredients like this if you can help it, as they lose their flavour and aroma over time - but if you have to, (and sometimes there is no other option), then you'll have to experiment with the amount as each batch will be different. Cheers! Adam
These look so yummy! Looks like I'm making another trip to the asian market. Also, where did you get those little glass bowls with the pour spout? They look so handy!
Much prefer the fast food fried chicken in Indonesia than in the US. Mcdonalds and burger king have fried chicken in Indonesia (with rice) and they're phenomenal.
A lime juice powder!! I gotta get that!! AP flour, corn starch, and a couple tbsp of water!!! Got it! That really looks awesome 🤩 indeed better looking than KFC!!
Hi Adam here - and when it's past it's shelf-life we put in a ziplock and throw it in the garbage. (That's the way were asked to do it here in Vancouver as well - not to put it down the drain.) Cheers!
Those 10 baht wings from a stall markets still give KFC a run for its money. I only go to KFC when I can't find fries to go with my chicken from the market!
Hello and thank you for all your hard work and expertise! I may not be a better cook, but I have more confidence because I watch your channel. I have calamansi powder, which is a Filipino citrus-like lime. Can I substitute it for the lime powder you are using? Thanks for letting me know.
Hi Adam here - and I think you're going to have to ask her that one directly as she doesn't see the comments on here once the post is more than a week old (as per her note above). You can check out options to get hold of her here hot-thai-kitchen.com/contact . Cheers!

This on noodles omg. That would be epic! Love anything like this on say Chapaguri, Shin Ramyun etc

Churches’ chicken are better than KFC.

Yes yes!!! I don’t like kfc here in the US but when I went to Thailand I fell in love with KFC in Thailand
Totally making these for my wing obsessed family. Thank you for this recipe and for everything you share with us devotees.
Those look absolutely amazing! I have never heard of lime juice powder before, but now I must have some!
My favourite cooking channel. Furthermore, I propose that Pai is such a very nice charming person. Thank you!
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONGGGG THESE WERE MY FAVOURITE AT THAI MARKETS
How? How have I never see this cooking channel before? Thank you for the videos!

I’ll definitely try this . Thai 🇹🇭KFC is tasty with their different flavors of chicken , but nothing beats Jamaican 🇯🇲 KFC 😋😋😋
The KFC in Thailand really did hit different. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Yesssss! I've been trying to find a good recipe for Wingz Zabb.
I'm gonna try this at some point. So excited!
9:52 music was so rural Thai. 🤣🤣 I love it !
Wow, KFC seasoning mixed with Thai seasoning. This might just be the best fried chicken ever 🤩🤩🤤
Swaddi Krub Khun Pai! Thank you very much for this recipe for I don’t intend to go to KFC any time soon, even in Thailand! Your fried chicken look so scrumptious and the background music makes me look forward to going back home in December!Yay!🎉

I agree a 100 💯 the 🌶 lime are the best. Here in Germany worse than elsewhere. No taste no flavor. We don't even have the lime ones

It's like 8:30AM in the morning and now I want wings. Looks great Pai.
Those look great!! I will definitely give that a try. Also, I never eat KFC at home (USA) and never thought to try it in Thailand. Now I must.
now, pai, the million dollar question: this or the hot thai chicken for the rest of your life?
Love that hot thai chicken!
Very simple: neither! Settling for one over the other is like forcing Casanova into monogamy. A true epicurean is faithful to only one thing: variety.
I read that in a fortune cookie 🥠
Not really lol😅
First time watcher. I really enjoyed you and your wings. Even though I haven’t got to eat them yet. I plan on doing so. Thank you.

I was about to comment on MSG before I got to the end. I definitely want to try making these!
หนังไก่ทอด with zaap powder is even better
Is the lime powder similar to citric acid? Can it be substituted?
I've been trying to crack this recipes for month. Thank you.
This recipe sounds great! The one thing I'm surprised of is that the spice mix goes on the finished wings, somehow I expected it to go directly on the uncooked wings before the coating with the flour/cornstarch mix.
The dry coating gives the recipe the texture that it has. It’s hard to explain but it’s really addicting.
Is it okay to use Dried Kaffir Lime Leaves? Here in the Philippines, it's hard to find them fresh. The dried leaves are easy to find.

Very cool, thanks for sharing!
These look INCREDIBLE! 🤤
In the UK these are called drumsticks (top part of the wing). Wings for us are the tiny tip
You can buy Zab powder in Makro, Thailand.
In Malaysia🇲🇾, we have this limited item every year called ‘Sawadee krunch’ which im obsessed with😋😋😋
If you add MSG do you add it do the seasoning or to the chicken when marinating?
I am REALLY REALLY REALLY going to give this a try 😊
I do have MSG in my pantry. How much would you recommend adding to the seasoning mix?
Omg tried to recreate the seasoning soo much never got close finally a recepie, living outside of thailand was depressing without this in my life lol
Shows like yours have made me fat. I can’t stop cooking and eating these amazing recipes!!!!
These look so yummy! Looks like I'm making another trip to the asian market.
Also, where did you get those little glass bowls with the pour spout? They look so handy!
