I am google cloud customer and have purchased 200gb plan. If JIO gives it free, then google will also give 100GB free, so it indirectly benefits to customers like me. Good that Indian companies are now challenging US tech giants.

these are my speculations:
1. indian govt wants to keep our data inside the country, so jio is probabaly helping the govt
2. i am not sure if the drives can directly access our data, because that's a breach of privacy. but probably they do for their own benefits. using data from drive, AI can be built as you said, more market knowledge can be accessed. people should anyway avoid keeping too private data on their drive (passwords, signature, nudes etc). we need to read the terms and conditions to be sure how the drives will use data
3. to access drive, you need internet. so, maybe in future Jo's internet price will go up. basically the drive introduction is there to create the demand for buying more internet data.
The way he operates be wary about charges after some time. He might keep it all free of cost for some time, once you get used to it, he will start asking a pay.

It is good that jio is trying to put itself in cloud services....but it is not going to affect Google in any ways....google'gcp is is already there to provide large scale data storage ......yah it might be useful for small scale uses
