  • Enterprise IT departments know the Windows 11 system requirements are bloated and ridiculous. Now while I do think any computer running Windows 11 should at a minimum have a solid state drive, the truth is, Windows 11 will run on hardware that is significantly older than the minimum requirements. There are cases where IT departments need to use Windows 11 because a piece of software they use is ending support for Windows 10, but it makes no sense to have to replace a whole fleet of PCs simply because they are from 2018 and have 7th gen Intel CPUs (or equivalent AMD). For example, the ITS department at my workplace is planning to roll out Windows 11 organization-wide this fall. A lot of their computers date from 2018 or older, and are not in the budget for replacement until a couple years out. They have installed Windows 11 on one of our systems as a test mule, and aside from slow bootup times due to the HDD being used for Windows, the system otherwise runs Windows 11 perfectly fine!
