1400 yrs ago Shilla dynasty, there was a little mountain on the East sea in Korea. That mountain had a strange bamboo, which was divided into 2 parts during the day time and put together into 1 bamboo at night. King Shinmoon, who was curious, made a flute out of the strange bamboo. After making sound with this bamboo flute, many miraculous things happened -recovering from illness, passing the enemy, raining in a drought, holding up the flood.
Very nice piece...it transports me to some remote location out in the countryside of Korea or China among some misty mountais. Funny, I've never been fortunate enough to visit either one of these contries but from paintings paintings i've seen, this is the feeling this piece conveys to me.
I totally forgot and I need to do this myself but a good idea might be to contact the Cultural Center at the Korean Embassy in your area and they might give you a lead. Good luck...:)
