Wish Roland didn’t discontinue it. When it first came out a lot of “digital bad” folks hated it. Anything synth that allows you so many ways to design a sound is a classic imo. Doesn’t matter what type of synthesis it uses.
Heeey Gary! Thank you so much for your message. I saw you in the FB group too. Long time no see at HWJ. I’m about to sell my V-Synth due to losing my contract with a supplier. But when times are getting better, I will search for a V again. I do still have my XT though. Will not leave my house. The V-series are just so wonderful. See you around! Grtzzz, Roger (yep, the bald one from HWJ!) Enjoy your mint V-Synth. 🙌🏽✌🏽
I just bought a V-Synth XT and I'm stoked about getting into it. So far the touch screen is a little stubborn. I'm hoping I can calibrate it but even if it needs a repair/replacement I'll definitely get it done.
Wow! Great you bought one! These units are hard to find these days. You will enjoy it for sure, because it's a wonderful unit. Have fun and thanks for getting in touch!
Beasty looking synth, the more I see of Rolands the more I realise that a lot of them are the same. I could follow this video using the PCM-S engine on Roland FA-06 (only difference I notice is the envelopes have 6 points on pcm-s and looked like 4 here?) I learned to use the pcm-s engine by reading the Roland D50 manual. Of course the new zencore does all this and more. Definitely a deep sound design tool once you get your head around it. I really love the step LFO and ability to delay oscillators so they come in staggered from each other. You really made it shine here. On the FA you can layer 16 patches as well. Would love a zencore fantom!
I think you totally right. At that time a lot of workstations were released with screens like that. But this is no workstation nor a multitimbral machine. It can be used as a multitimbral synth but that’s totally not interesting. Nope, it’s a real performance synth.
Yep instructive video and this synth has a very clear inner structure -especially everything seems to be very comprehensive for sound design, somehow I’d like to get something like that in my setup (I’m still to cheap for now for that but eh really good one for the price).
HI! Thanks for doing these videos! Ive had a v-synth collecting dust for a long time now. Do you know if you can send midi notes from an external synth into the V-synth and have the V-synths ARP be triggered?
Hi! A V-synth collecting dust is never a good sign ;-) Let me see if I understand your question right. You want to use the an external synth and have the V-Synth ARP trigger it? When you play on the V-Synth it is possible but when you play on the external synth it isn't possible. There's no possibility to sent out the ARP on an external synth. So, if I explain it right, on the V-Synth you can trigger other synths with the ARP but on the external synth it isn't possible.
The other amazing thing is you can sample and use that sound with everything you just did as well... Two synths win hands down. The V Synth and the e-mu sampler with the z plane filters. Anything is possible with them.
Wow I've had a v synth for almost 10 years and this is the first actual tutorial I've ever seen on how to use it. Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for this! I will soon do more vids about this great unit.
The best tutorial about this incredible synth!
The V Synth is a sounddesigner's dreammachine.
Wish Roland didn’t discontinue it. When it first came out a lot of “digital bad” folks hated it.

Just got a mint used one. Thanks for the V Synth videos. The V Synth and Octatrack is an amazing combo.

Thanks for teaching/reminding me of things about this wonderful instrument that I either never knew or forgot. Great Video!! subscribing.
Seems highly underrated

Thanks for the great demonstration. I just purchased one myself yesterday and can't wait for it to arrive more so after watching this video!

Great video Roger!
Thanks a lot!
This week I added a GT. Let’s see how that one works 😅
Could you do a video showing how to get the vox humana sound made famous by gary numan
Wow even more features I didn't know about! 🤓😜

Got my XT recently and still blown away, mostly from the voice processor
Amazing machine...and musical talent of course...\\
Excellent video.... V Synth is amazing... I think because of screen people think its a workstation or arranger...

What a Beast!!
extremely deep synth, what i miss it is designated noise gen,
Hi, how is it possible to pan OSC 1 and OSC2 independently?

J'ai oublié : l'AP-Synthesis bien sûr !
