in 1969 I received that avocado canister set as a wedding gift! So now you know how old they are!😊
At that time there were pretty much only two colours to choose from in North America, avocado green and harvest yellow. I did hear that some true revolutionaries went for a bronze-type colour, and the UK went nuts for turquoise, but the rest of us pretty much had to go along with the green and gold.
The space station is amazing. I bought one for my kids back in 1985 and they played with it for years. When my grandchildren were born my kids said let's get out the space station so that they can play with it too. There were two aliens and my kids called one Bluey blue and the other one greeny green.
02:02 I'm pretty certain it's a poorly written "Carmen."
02:34 There's enough wear on the base that I believe it's been a few years round the block, and someone did the wood-burning later on. Looking at the base and screws, I think prior to WWII.
03:04 Contemporary, and probably Chinese.
04:29 I would say early travel mug, as I had one the exact same shape, but the cork is puzzling. I think I still come down on the side of travel mug, though. The non-slip base is a giveaway.
08:16 It's pre-1960, but was re-finished and re-handled in the Eighties.
08:43 Those are wear marks, where drawer slider rails rubbed away the veneer 'cos they weren't kept greased with beeswax.
08:58 State agencies and universities are excellent sources of MCM furniture. They tended to buy good quality pieces, then de-accession them when they got old and dowdy-looking.
11:19 The base and sides are mother-of-pearl, but the top has been molded to look like a Pacific razor clam. No shell collector could see that and not know.
12:01 Prolly meant for serving _soupe au pistou,_ a Provençal bean, pasta, and pesto soup.
Lots of great info - thanks!
😊
I LOVE those Pottery Barn Chinese food containers!!
Those Flora or Frutta dessert bowls made by Iittala, Finland are a good find. They are designed by Oiva Toikka. Worth 20 euros each. Greetings from Finland.
Anything with Queen Elizabeth's mark on it will be worth getting since she's dead now and her mark will never be used again.
Those escargot plates could also be used as paint palettes.
A much better use! 😅
You did good today. You saved tea, sugar and Florida. That counts.
There’s something just so calming about your voice and the way you film. ❤I love watching and listening, and the tiny little things you say at times make me giggle 😂. Thanks for the awesome content and information as usual!
Make sure we see Laurel in the adorable Halloween outfit!!!
Would also love to see Laurel, Juliette and Ashton dressed up as well as your front porch setup. Love your house and everything you do!
Your mom and I have something in common. I had a full ride Valedictorian scholarship and "blew it off" to get married, 43 years ago tomorrow (October 6th). Never regretted it😊
I also blew off a softball scholarship to get married… 28 years this past August! ❤️
My Mom's birthday is the 6th lost her on March of 21 Happy Anniversary 😊
Lisa K: Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary to all the wonderful happily married woman who recognize life is all about God, family and country! Proud moms and dads!
My Mom gave up her full scholarship to FSU to marry my Dad. They met in the summer after she graduated, she worked at the NCO club and he was an airman in the USAF. She came home for Christmas that first year and they eloped. They were married 63 years when my Daddy died.
I liked that abalone shell box it was pretty neat!
Yes, I loved that! 😍
Was sorry she put it down.
The buffet cabinet with rounded drawers looks like the one my grandparents had and also my sister in law has one that was my mother in law’s. Beautiful piece.
Abalone dish was cool!
The purple shell and abalone box was gorgeous!💜 And I think the little sugar bowl said Carmen not Carhin..😄
The black Halloween baby set is ADORABLE! I can see Laurel in it..🥰
If you try to fix the chip on the Florida plate with a sharpie, put some clear nailpolish afterwards..
The avocado green canisters are fantastic!
Those small chips can easily be repaired. Fill with a no bake clay match the green and seal with a gloss.
I have those canisters. Mine are cream with the brown lids. I have had them almost 40 years. I love them because they hold large quantities of flour & sugar. I really enjoy watching you. Keep up the great work.
That cute little green bowl with the feet was L.E. Smith! I would’ve grabbed it 🤣
Testors enamel paints - you get the tiny bottles in the hobby section with the model rockets and stuff. It covers chips on pottery pretty well for display. Colors are easy to mix
You missed the Navajo pottery wedding vase. Depending on the artist, they can be worth a lot! Found one and paid $3. Sold it for $95! The artist was Betty Manygoats.
What time is it shown?
It’s around 17:30-17:40
Jocelyn, I don't think a little bit of chippies would stop me from buying something super cool and cute either lol. Love the canisters. The texture on the soap dish looks so interesting. I've never seen fire and light in the wild (that I know of 😂) or glassy baby but we'll have our day!!!! Thanks for sharing this with us ❤️
@@MyVtgWorld truth!!
Hey didya know? Those chips can be fixed on ceramics/pottery. Take a bit of 2 part epoxy and mix in some pastel chalk for tinting and voila! You have a colored, hard filler that you can customize to the colour of the chipped area. I did this with some thrifted plates that I just couldn't resist and it worked like a charm. I used a disposable toothpick to apply the filler and used the side of the toothpick to shape as it was starting to dry. You would really have to inspect the chipped area in order to know that it had been repaired.
I have the avocado canisters in square. My tea lid also has a chip😂. They are vintage. I’m 56 and I remember them in our kitchen as a child. They are packed up but I may be getting them out.
I went to our Goodwill and thanks to your education I found 4 Glassy babies.
If you think that's slim pickins you should see the GWs in my area! Lol Nothing but junk! Love your videos.
Ours too and very expensive. I wish she was here. We have three to four estate sales here every weekend almost and the prices are great.
@@ritastutler1470 I need to start looking up estate sales, everyone raves about the great prices they find.
I dont know how u can concentrate on shopping u amaze me..the loud noises and sceeaming kids wow u deserve a medal
Love your videos! I’m new to thrifting and have learned a lot from you. I got lucky last week and actually found a GlassyBaby at a Goodwill!!! It’s Janes Caramel…not sure if it’s one of the limited ones but it’s very pretty and BONUS…I only paid $1.29 🇨🇦 🎉
Great find Kristi! Go you
I love the fact that you are familiar with our pottery here in Canada. You were correct, that was a Canuck piece of pottery.
This is the Goodwill that’s across the street from my in-laws! As you show the shelves I’m always looking for things they could have donated!
I have a large ashtray that matches the flamingo divided bowl. I just love the image and colours. Great haul.
You mentioned a new Goodwill opening (in another video) I've heard that they divert donations from other stores to stock the new ones. Might be why the bare shelves? Hopefully just temporary.
Also, those cannisters are gorgeous! Chips will be forgiven!!
That ISU dresser was in door rooms when I was in college in the 70’s. Every room had two or three, depending upon the room size and number of students per room.
I went there then too and recognized the dresser!!!
11:15 that abalone wow!!!!
I bought a Brio purse for $1 and I found a sold on Poshmark for $200. Mine has fringe tho.
Those harvest fruit teacups were gorgeous!
Hi CLL! It's Lisa from the Meet N Greet in Columbia who gifted the leather googly eye owl wristlet! Just wanted to say a couple things: first- it was a tremendous pleasure to meet you! All of what I know abt vintage glass and ceramics, I learned from watching your channel on a regular basis! You have great insight and a keen eye for spotting vintage treasures. Plus u r so dang charming and witty! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences in the thrift world, U rock! Second- abt that bicentennial plate, upcoming in 2026 is the 250-year bicentennial anniversary. As the date approaches, the demand for bicentennial items should increase! So I wanted to plant that seed in your head.
P.S. I noticed that u were not invited to the meet n greet for RUclipsrs at the Ohio extravaganza. So uncool to whoever organized that event! it kinda pissed me off. Especially bcz you've always supported the promotion of their RUclips channels in the past. Anyways, i know you r above that petty BS. Haters gonna hate and Karma always remebers the haters.
You just keep being you - bcz You really are ALL THAT!
Peace out 💛
Lisa
(a.k.a. LeeBee)
I have the avocado flour and sugar canisters. Bought them years ago at a yard sale for a quarter each. They dont match my decor but I love them.
I found a Spode serving platter with the Christmas tree and Santa on the top last week at one of my Goodwill’s! Thanks to you I knew that was the one to grab and I snatched it up so quick!! 😊
Ugh I hate that! I am so bad at looking things over really good for damage. I get so excited and put it in the cart. Maybe at cart review we should do damage review too. So upsetting I know! Tomorrow is a new day!
Even worse if the treasure is perfect, but you break it once you get it home! I broke the tail of a mermaid last week. 😢
the Otagiri is a travel mug - the rubber pad on the bottom keeps it from sliding off of your dashboard
You passed a knife holder in the wood section. Some of them depending on the name can go for $40 or more. It's easy to ship and they sell pretty quickly.
Great finds. The canisters are my favorite. Please Stay Safe, Happy And Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Dagny is way behind in the Praying Hands competition. Come on out Dagny! 😂
Your mother made the perfect choice! Marriage and family are everything!
The sugar bowl said CARMEN.
Thats what i was thinking
She didn't have her glasses on lol I'm the same!
I came here to say the same thing!
Get all the canisters, they are great even with the chips!
The bicentennial plate will be 50 years in 2026!!
Pick it up!!
Omg 50 years! That's when I graduated HS.
The Noratake is a good by, just make sure you look it up to see if it Antique. I use to sell at Webster Flea Market here it Tampa, Fla. I was the coin lady and a lot of different cool Antique’s. I try and still go, when I can but my last car accident but me in a bind, and Baby Laurel is so SCRUMPDILLYICOUS !!!!
On those pretty tea cups w/saucer's when you flipped over the 1st one I think I saw a E R (as in queen Elizabeth ) so maybe the maker is a maker for the royals. Should have checked that out, could be worth something.
I just commented the same! I hadn't read thru the comments yet, oops!
I somewhat wonder if the pieces for that space toy would be in a baggie hanging in toy area. So that the pieces would not get lost. Great video as always!
The same thought crossed my mind too !!
Got my thrift fix, not too much screaming “get that”, love how you give information on things you don’t get! Blessed days!
the Pfaltzgraff pistolette collection was based on an epistolary novel . there were 2 books I have the books I always wanted those dishes.
The white elephant bowl is for 🥜
I saw one of your videos a little while ago where you were in the shop and you were trying to figure out the signature on the bottom of a lamp…. I accidentally closed it and can’t find it now ….but I believe it is Tom Stoenner. Makes art glass lamps and vases.
It was
She took the lamp to their Bedford (?) antique mall booth a couple of videos back.
Oh wow iam in love with the abalone box thingy
I liked the Nortake
I love the China cream and sugar.
always go with your first gut feeling and do not second guess yourself 😁
I made a Santa candy holder a lot like the one you found back in the mid-60's while in the 1st or 2nd grade. My mom still has it.
Love those canisters would buy them just for the design and colour
Hi! Why didn't you get the Nortake?😭😭😭I have a weakness for it. THAT IS GORGEOUS!!
brookpark also makes bowls similar to TexasWare.
Your praying hands game is on point, time to challenge Dagny, lol
I love all the stuff you find. Our goodwills around me have nothing like that.
Pfaltgraff are good to pick up & resell.. Each style is only in circulation for a short time. I just picked up a Villa Della Luna platter for $5.99 and its reselling for about $70
I liked the canister set too and I probably would have taken a chance on it too somebody will find it and love it
That green dish looks a lot like a Blenko dish I have
I did not know Blenko did those...Blenko is ten minutes from me. I love Blenko but people around here don't appreciate it as much so at estate sales ypu can get things very reasonably priced.
You can always do a return to goodwill especially if.you just bought it. It hard to pay that much for broken canisters
I love those canisters. I would buy them
The voices!! Do it! Don’t do it! 😂
I'm watching this 4 months after the fact, but I'm so glad u took the florida dish....and the tea canister....I would have bought them for sure
Even with the chip, the flamingo plate is pretty, I’d have gotten it too! I’ll be watching for it…
A little bit of nail polish and then clear nail polish
You need to look at furniture and get some more for your booth.
The Otagiri piece is a captain's mug.
I think that the teacups said Heren or Heron, and I was very surprised at how valuable the brand is.
6:43. my grandma had that exact clock! Wow, that brings back memories!
My mom and I screamed at the shot of the egg with pears on a stand at 11:12
My grandmother had the same one, in fact it still lives in her inherited home
That is a spartus clock from Louisville Ms. My family worked there. It is now a Taylor Machine works office building.
I had that Space station set in kindergarten. The kids absolute loved playing with it. 😄 When I retired in 2019 I think the majority of those toys were thrown away 😢
4:28 that chair you pushed away! I collect mini chairs, 😮
Awe, I think that’s so sweet your mom blew off her golf scholarship to go be with her hubby! ♥️
I thought that last dresser looked familiar. Lol I had one of that same dresser in student housing at Iowa State in the late 70s. Wow lol
Beautiful.
Wish I had thought of purchasing my dorm furniture. Maple 🍁 Wood Dresser. Desk. And twin bed. Those were the days. ❤
Amber dessert bowl is Sierra from arcoroc. Worth money.... I have a collection. Aprox 1960's
They do accept some returns!
We don't have a great Halloween area at the Thrift stores. We love decorating for everyone stopping by,My hubby would have that severed foot sticking out of the dirt. In Vegas n Colorado,Texas, Florida their stores have the greatest Halloween costumes 🎃
I don’t think I would buy anything chipped
This canister chips would be so easy to repair. ❤️. Love them!
Every time you say something is $12.50 when it's marked $12.49, I can hear Juliette saying it's $12.49! (Back when she was little and you were still shopping at the store that shall not be named)
the Otagiri mug at 4:25 is an old school car/travel mug. the cork is the lid, and must just not fit right anymore.
Facebook still has pictures of Fire & Light pieces made for reference. If you Google them, the page will show up.
I really hate when thrift stores remove all the accessories from toys. You always hope to find them in the baggies, but I've not had any luck. I bought my nephew a great pirateship (imaginext) a year ago, but still have yet to find the right figures for it! (The slots for the feet are very particular). It's been a lesson - I don't get excited to see these empty shells because they aren't worth the trouble of trying to piece together the accessories!
Love the outfit for baby Laurel!🧡
Jocelyn, though you may have realized by now, the name on the floral pottery sugar bowl is most likely Carmen, not Carhen. Did a small search and came up with a lot of results for the name Carmen in association with pottery, none for Carhen.
BTW, remember the brass turtleback candlestick comment I made? To my relief, one of Melanie's vids, from Lost and Found Decor came up and I realized it was she that had picked them up. Lol. I passed her the info. I know I'm a bit silly. ( :
😂😂😂 I have those exact praying hands! 😂😂😂
oh wow, I think I saw the green cookie jar to add to your cannister collection on Laura Caldwell's channel at the 6:29 (Midwest thrift adventure) mark!
You really find some good stuff… my goodwill…not so much. I’ll try again soon.👍🏼🌻🍂🍁💛
Kind of slim pickings at both places today!!! Great video ❤
i was watching another youtube video and they had one of those green canisters in a goodwill in Minnesota and it said cookie on it!
Love the video 💕💕
