I liked the quality content that came out of this channel. Its a shame to see it abandoned in favor of talking about the same points every week in regards to warcraft
You just can’t take mind broken wow fans out of the mindset sadly. It doesn’t matter how many other games they play, how many times they complain, how against them the company gets. They always, ALWAYS go back.
They are literally unwell. Like I just watched a video about how there is no intrinsic motivation to play WOW in which they kept veering back to adding extrinsic motivation to play while simultaneously blaming extrinsic motivation rewards for killing intrinsic motivation. No one can take your intrinsic motivation away. You can’t be intrinsically motivated from the outside. But they rather spin around in circles forever than face the fact they don’t like what they are doing. That’s how addicted to WOW they are.
@@IHeart16Bit I played WoW from WotLK to the beggining of DF, But had massive breaks over the last 3 expansions because the game had nose dived so hard. Havent touched a Blizz product since clearing the first raid tier in DF. Plenty of us have given up and moved on. However I fully agree, I MISS this channel, I barely watch Bell's videos anymore because it's almost all Blizzard shight.
@IHeart16Bit I quit and haven't gone back since 2021 lol. GW2 is what I play now. F Azeroth and all the lore they turned to crap. Huge part of my child hood and interest in fantasy was 2004 to 2012 WoW. It hurt to see it get destroyed a slow death of 1000 cuts. But like all things in life, nothing last forever.
Almost all of the $treamer$ who swooped in went crawling back to WoW. I wonder if the FFXIV community will be dumb enough to fall for them again when they come back for 7.0.
@@vfvs11a All about the viewership, FFXIV had big viewership when Asmon started, but it dropped off as soon as he left and Dragonflight came out, now they only care about Dragonflight content, and they can't do both cause they also have their hands full with The Pale Beyond. I expect that this channel will make a resurgence whenever Blizzard inevitably kills off WoW for good.
@@vfvs11aOther than channels like Preach who are genuinely still enjoying the game, I know I won’t be tuning into other creators if they do decide to come back to 7.0 (like Savix or Rich). Most WoW to FFXIV really were only in it for the views snd nothing more.
One thing that a lot of new players don't realise is FF14 has had duds and problematic content in the past. Their first attempt at an open world zone like Bojza, was Diadem in HW and it was total rubbish. However they learned from it and developed off it. Their 8 man Savage trials evolved similarly. I think we will see a similar evolution with this content too. We usually do. I imagine an issue as relatively small (not saying it is unimportant) as the rewards for the hard version is something they should be able to address.
This is the reason we trust the team to always try for better, as I remember Diadem back in HWs and it could be a total shitshow at times but it had something to it that was enjoyable at times. Mistakes are made, but they try to learn from them and make something down the line better due to those mistakes. So long as this remains true, I feel ff14 has a long life ahead of it.
yep, too bad half the ppl shit on it anyways even tho its their first time implementing it. "They should know by now" excuse from ppl, like no... this is somethign different and needs to be build upon. Same with Island Sanctuary! etc
@@Mystra thats the point ya? Im mentioning that the first iteration of content is not crafted well enough on release, rather itll take a just a few patches to round out the edges. Yes, Diadem is great for gathering etc. bonus the zone looks great!
If you’ve stumbled your way into this comment section and sorted on newest for some reason, just go watch preach gaming instead. He’s actually continued covering other mmo’s
Running this content solo was some of the most fun I’ve had in ages. It really felt like a single player rpg running through and gettting all the endings and slowly piecing together the story
Oh it solo able !?!? fuck yes! .. People say MMO means there HAS to be group content only which I heavily disagree with .. Its also a world and there are people who 'travel' solo. I do wish one day FFXIV will add some sort of SOLO savage challenge one day.
@@4922jack yes I solo'ed the 12 routes myself because I wanted to do it at my own pace. It's a good challenge to go on solo but really worth it. I then did runs wirh my FC and ir was also fun but different fun lol
@@yaninaayalaherrera8956 Oh don't get me wrong .. Group content should exist but I don't have the time to join and be a proper part of a guild or make schedules for raid days n such, nor do I have a friend group who plays MMOs (they play dota or don't play games at all :( lol). So I try to find as many solo challenges as possible (plus even if I had a group, doing solo stuff is fun for me). So I'm glad FFXIV has a bit of a focus on that as well.
I dunno, going in solo sounds awful for green jobs. Yesterday one of our FC white mage was basically begging people to come do paths with her, she badly wanted the mount but said going in alone was really boring for her. SE probably need to give healers something more fun than a dot since healers don't have a lot of DPS skills in their natural kit. I also notice tanks get the exact same dot even though they naturally do more damage, so it sounds like healers are just worse off than other roles at running this content.
Variant is so sick. I'm still farming for the Sewer Skink. The rewards, especially for the harder modes, needs tweaking, but this is absolutely something I hope to see more of going forward.
@@JP11999 the community has both asked for non-lineal dungeons and tougher 4 man content. Two separate things. And we’ve been asking for this since the dawn of the game
I'm just sort of confused, I thought this channel was supposed to be multi-faceted? like, yeah, FF was a focus, its time in the sun is over, I get that, where's...the rest? maybe the problem is that I'm not following The Main Channel, so I'm out of the loop, but. maybe update the channel description or something at least
This one was an obvious choice to me; Out of all the lost civilisations and histories we got told and covered in the last 10 years of the game, the least touched was of Ul'dah's past. Which was mostly only covered briefly in side content, the ARR Hildibrand quest and briefly mentioned in dialogue for Thaumaturge quests and the starting zone Ul'dah questline and the side quest content to do with The Sunken Temple of Qarn covering Belah'dia and the zombie plague. The history of Sil'dih and Ul'dah was mostly just left untouched as not particularly explored lore content after Heavensward, so it is something the devs had not touched or done any content for, in nearly 7 years. We've explored thoroughly all other old middle age 6th era content from the conflict in Vylbrand (The struggle between Limsa and the Kobolds), the founding of Old Sharlayan, to Gelmorra (Palace of the Dead). The one left which still was to be covered was the conflict between Sil'dah and Ul'dah. Meanwhile we had already covered extensively the 5th era content being Nym, Mhach and Amdapor.
This is exaclty how I feel about FFXIV. It's always there. Top notch quality, just a sub away; no pressure to succeed or to be at the bleeding edge. Just fun for the sake of fun. Living in South America makes it difficult to stay subed, as a 13 USD per month quota is kinda steep for us, but I would 100% never unsub if I had a more viable option (or more money). That being said, I will definitely come back for the next content cycle.
hey bro hey hey did you know bro that Yoshi p said we are allowed to play other games bro how sick is that chyeah so sick dats rite Yoshi gave us permission to play other games don’t worry bro it’s ok if you take a break Yoshi p said you’re allowed to it’s ok bro also did you know bro that Yoshi p said we are allowed to play other games? yeah bro dats rite they give us permission to do what we want with our money bro how cool is that it’s ok if you can’t sub sometimes bro Yoshi p said you are allowed!!!
Gelmorra Ruins.... The Deeper parts of the Mun Tuy Cellars, some of those lost 1.0 dungeons which are sealed off... so many options for future V+C content.
I ran the dungeon as Bard, as Dragoon, as Dark Knight and Paladin. I cleared 8 paths before I started consulting any guides, though I did read Nanamo's notes ^-^ It was a blast. I do recall parts of Ul'Dah's lore from well, all the way from Alphinaud picking apart their standard. You may also recall the Sunken Temple of Qarn which has a similar scale puzzle. I also remembered my Zombie lore from Hildibrand so it was really nice to see that come to the fore as well. Having also become a friend of the Amal'jaa I know how eager they are to take down strong prey, nor did it escape me that we were fighting Drakes that they would have used as mounts to unlock the secret passage. It all made sense and gave me a kind of cozy feeling.
that experience you had was so good wasnt it? was no need to rush anything, just slowly pick apart clues and figure out as an adventure. what a treat it was and cant wait for more!
I disagree with the pushback against the perceived 'lack of rewards'. And I disagree on the principle of FFXIV's entire philosophy when it comes to their side content. "Do this because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to." I've seen a lot of content creators and their comment sections angry over Criterion Savage not giving endgame gear as a reward, but FFXIV has seen great success by not turning what is supposed to be fun content into required content, as what happened with Torghast in WoW. Once you directly add endgame power to a piece of content, it becomes mandatory content. And making something optional into something that is statistically mandatory will kill enjoyment, increase pressure on people who do only want to do it for fun, and frustrate groups that struggle to clear it 'efficiently'. I would remind people that the only reward you get from Ultimate is a title and a shiny weapon that only barely outclasses what's already available (and sometimes is slightly worse, depending on a Job's substat meta). And that's the reward for the hardest content in the game. And I've never seen anyone complaining that Ultimate 'doesn't give enough rewards'. Because it's recognized that you do Ultimate for the challenge and the bragging rights, and the rewards are just proof of your bragging rights. Even our relic weapons are never BiS until well after the last raid is beaten and cleared. Getting completed relics is, as with all side content, bragging rights. Nothing is mandatory, play what you want because it's fun. As it stands, Criterion Savage gives little in the ways of tangible reward, but so does Ultimate by comparison of how much effort goes into it. As the hardest 4-man content in the game, it's something you do for the bragging rights, just like Ultimate is for 8-man content. If you add endgame gear as a reward, it stops being bragging rights and becomes a thing that raid groups will have to do to prepare for Ultimate. That changes the whole tone of the content; from fun challenge to serious gear source. If anything, the team was smart to keep endgame power out of the equation, and preserve it as "Challenging Content for 4-man Parties". Just like Deep Dungeon, this is something you tackle for fun, nor power. But once you take raid gear and put it in non-raid content, you're opening a can of worms that has dragged down many other MMOs.
I mostly agree but still think there could be small adjustments to make it more in line with the rest of the content. -First thing is naming: having criterion being somewhat similar in difficulty to early raid savage fights and then the version above be called savage instead is a bit misleading. -regarding rewards: variant and criterion look fine FOR NOW. But come 6.3, they should probably add the upgrade materials (coatings/twine) to the vendor for criterion currency since they add them for hunt vendors too anyway. Can't really comment on criterion savage as it's a bit out of reach for me.
All that is well fine and dandy but numerically Criterion is just not being played at all. ----- Criterion vs. Savage a) There's only 1.8k recorded Criterion clears the past 2 weeks. b) There are 1.2m (yes, million) recorded Abyssos clears the past 2 weeks. 1.8k / 1.2m = 0.15% of the raiderbase. Let that sink in: Only 0.15% of the raiderbase even bothered with Criterion. If we take into account that 50% of the playerbase raids (and that's being hella generous), only 0.07% of the playerbase even engaged with the content. ----- Criterion vs. Ultimate. a) There's only 1.8k recorded Criterion clears the past 2 weeks. b) There are actually 2.5k recorded DSR clears the past 2 weeks. Even Ultimate, a content designed for the fucking 0.1% of the playerbase, is still more popular than Criterion. How do you make a content so unengaging and unrewarding, that even Ultimate is more popular than it?
I'm hoping that a future variant dungeon will properly go into a section of Gelmorra. I know POTD was technically gelmorran, but we really got barely any actual lore/content in regards to gelmorra itself in POTD, definitely not the way this dungeon doles out information about Sil'dih. Better yet, give us a duskwight NPC guide for it! There are so few duskwights in this game...
Its a shame they had the opportunity to diversify their content and then quickly abandoned it. Could have been a channel beyond a single MMO or game, but they seemingly threw their eggs into the WoW and general news basket.
Just finished asphodelos 4 circles after months of not playing DoM classes while leveling my gatherers. i was "o/ returning player, i forgot the mechanics" before healing and party was very very friendly
I loved this content. I had a blast soloing the 12 paths. Thank you very much for the detailed and insightful review. I was not expecting this or looking forward to it and I was blown away by how much creativity and work they put into this. As you say, they tied it altogether *and* set it in my home city of Uldah. I hope they will give us more of this. But why should they if all they hear is that it doesn't help us gear our alts faster. So it's great to hear your detailed take on the experience of running Variant. If you read the Japanese forums players are discussing all of this in detail, unlike many of us here in NA who asked for this content to begin with. Most of this lore was only available in the Encyclopedia of Eorzea and not in the game but these dungeons brought it all to life in an immersive and absorbing way.
I did this Variant dungeon with a friend, and it was some of the most fun we've had in a while, when we first started, I didn't realize that the little entries that you get each route had little hint tidbits to help solve other paths. We had a great dynamic though, I would throw out ideas that seemed completely insane, and somehow ended up being the correct solution after a little of searching through the entries in game. We got all 12 routes, I would love to do the Criterion, but, I don't want to do it with random people, I want a proper team, which isn't too easy to do with most of my friends playing other games while waiting for 6.3
I appreciated how solo-approachable it was. There's mobs very early into their prior solo dungeons (PotD) that can 1-shot you if you're not careful. Here, I pretty much ate every boss ability, regularly had 5 debuff stacks, and still cleared it first time. It's such a chill experience. Glad the puzzles were reasonable. Some in the past have been nigh-impenetrable, like the one by the ruined statue in west thanalan. Very much enjoyed the story going with it. Having done the beast tribe rep and seeing it from the other side, added extra weight to the tragic story. There's very little regarding Sil'dih in the game, but there was a little extra in the 1.0 mining quest chain which is worth a watch imo - v=g6ydwFDmJ2g
both said on a recent livestream they dont want to cover it. infact the word cringe fell a few times. i think after WoW got somewhat of an wider acceptance again they dropped the farce and embraced what they love. WoW. 14 was there to use for the time WoW was not coverable. none of them plays 14 in their free time, and they admitted that. both of them. here's your answer.
at this point, for me, letting my FFXIV sub run out is out of the question. even if i take days, weeks, months long breaks from it, the dedication the devs have shown, the entertainment value i've got from the game, the sheer adoration i have developed towards it are more than enough to not only make me not regret it, but actually make me feel "they easily deserve it, and more.". not entry level sub, but 6 months standard sub (both of which value-wise are the same, but one is 6 months in one go), while i have no more than a single character.
people are giving you shit for this, but honestly, I have derived enough joy from this game that it honestly is worth 15 bucks a month from me for the rest of my life. It's changed my whole world for the better and I wish everyone could experience it.
Haven't finished all 12 yet but they are very fun and cool to see the little puzzles to solve for the dungeon variants! Criterion is also very fun and challenging, rewards be darned. Happy to see them continue to try unique and different content.
I particularly love the silver warrior golems design. He is the answer to the scales puzzle. His massive helm is carved with vines and grapes. The Arch on the top in the shape of scales. Great work.
With the amount of free time I have my biggest struggle is keeping up with the content they put out. Something I never experienced in my 16 years of WoW. The only downside is that my backlog of other games keeps growing and growing 😂, and I love it. Keep it up FF14!
How is it hard to keep up? For raids, they put out a staggering 4 fights every 8 months, and this dungeon is literally just one dungeon. It's not much.
The gane was good, but I just couldn't connect to it. I was working solo, but it was just missing "it". I liked the way the toons actually seemed to speak, the missions were good, but I just couldn't "drop in" if you ever saw the movie "Lost in Translation" I was stuck in that zone. There was at least one city I dreaded navigating in, kind of like having to take an over the road truck into New York City. I barely got the cocobo, but just never got back to it.
The overall content was great though I do understand why people are upset over the rewards. Unfortunately a lot of people seem to be unable to voice displeasure without being over the top toxic. I actually wouldn't mind if they used elements of this design in story dungeons in the future. Maybe two varied routes that have some effect on the boss encounters just to mix things up.
People are only “over the top toxic” because the devs have made it extensively clear over the years that they only respond to outrage. And even then the criticism for criterion is far milder than when they removed kaiten.
Wow its almost like when you don't listen to people they get progressively more fed up as they get constantly ignored by Yoshi piss and his gaggle of incomeptent devs. Endwalker has been a trashfire expansion whose reputation can only be preserved by the active censorship of dissenting opinions. God save us from the King of Final Fantasy, whose head is so far up his own ass that there's no telling what this game's future will be.
"The overall content was great" what content? The criterion dungeons which died day one? Enjoy waiting weeks for the next patch that adds nothing. God forbid people ask for worthwile content, this is still a game you have to pay monthly for in case you forgot. Right now the content is not worth the sub price, and people have a right to call yoshi out for the lack of content and half assed patches.
@@Highlandwhispers Thank you for providing an example of exactly what type of people I was talking about. I am sorry they didn't give you exactly what you wanted exactly when you wanted it. They clearly don't know who the hell you are.
When I watch videos like these I feel like I’m playing a fundamentally different game than everyone else. Going on about how incredible this content is and whatnot I’m just sitting here thinking like… yeah I mean it was kinda cool but it’s just a dungeon that’s been sliced in 3rds. Also if we get another variant dungeon it’ll be one every like 2 years. Considering squares absolute inability to correctly interpret player feedback I’d bet anything it’s DOA because the rewards issue will be interpreted as “variant is bad don’t do that again”. Idk this stuff is cool but it’s hard to be excited when it’s 1 small drop. The issue isn’t the content it’s the ammount and the fact that very small experiences have to fill massive chunks of time and it just feels like poop. Everytime I level a job I get to 90 and go… “why did I do this again” there’s nothing to do except buy crafted gear and that’s gearing done since times are going to my main because timegating is really fun and very intuitive for a game with a major selling point of being able to play every job. Honestly it’s why I like deep dungeons so much. I can go in and always have a reason to engage with ffxiv combat system. It just sucks the thing that offers the most replayability combat wise also doesn’t let you use 2 expansions worth of spells and abilities. I just wish there was at least 1 instance level 90 combat content that we could grind that isn’t timegated. Yes ultimates but that’s not really an everyday activity. I just find all of this very treadmill-y, predictable, and unfulfilling. Gearing especially But this is the ffxiv community so nothing I’m saying could actually be an issue with the game, obviously it has to be an issue with me right? Can’t wait to be told I’m burnt out and this game just isn’t for me, etc etc because we all know there is no valid criticism regarding ffxiv. You either praise the game or you hate the game because ffxiv isn’t fond of reality. No gray here, no sir strictly black and white in MY ffxiv. Again it just feels like I’m playing a different game to what is being discussed in this video
I haven't even tried this stuff, but looking forward to it when I decide to resub to the game later. I'm just burned out on FF14 because virtually all of the jobs I like aren't really fun to play in Endwalker, and I think coming into it when they first expanded the free trial gave me tons of story, MSQ, raids, dungeons, etc. to do. Now that I'm mostly caught up, I'm still not used to the wait for stuff to do.
@@realKiraMG What the guy said is right, this game is terrible for content and not really suited to channels like this, especially if they're playing the game on a more casual level which limits their content, and even raiders mostly get their content from limited events like progging/world first discussions or recently fucking around with the drama. Even most fans of the game will admit to how awful the game is for content and how there's almost no good creators for it, even back in the ShB days before the hypewave. WoW's recent expansion has been doing well so of course the old guys who did WoW for years would go back and capitalize on that. Not only that but XIV is not really adding any content that would really satisfy channels like this, slow MSQ patches and raids/ults are not enough to run a whole channel, it makes more sense to go back to what your bread and butter used to be. I've never touched WoW btw and I don't care to, I've only played XIV.
@@Crowens This completely misses the point that this is an MMO channel, not a FFXIV channel. They've chosen to literally ignore all other MMOs besides WoW, which mind you, is in a content lull right now for the most part until the next major patch. On top of that, there's still a ton of shit from FFXIV that they've never bothered to discuss, so that excuse doesn't even work even if this did happen to be an FFXIV only channel.
@@GodOfWar187 Exactly. My best guess is that they were busy with the game they were developing/producing, but it's really sad to see this channel thrown under the bus as someone that enjoys their non-WoW content (since I dont play WoW, but I'm interested in the MMO scene in general)
Considering the creativity of the community on those weapons they did, I don’t think the fear of running out of rewards is there. There’s always potential. Looking forward to the future.
I moved over to FFXIV...simply because of Raid culture in Wow...Iv'e been playing for three months and not once has someone threaten to murder my family...it's amazing.
Can I just say how much I love your new hair cut? You look amazing. Thanks for another great video. I'll be starting NieR soon because I remember you saying how amazing it was.
Except no, it's different. In Quarn, it's *Flame* and *Fruit,* as that's the symbol of Belah'dia, which Quarn is a part of. Here, it's *_Helm_* and *Fruit,* the symbol of Sil'dih. If we were to have an Ul'dah version of the puzzle, the solution would be Flame and Gem. My first time through, I didn't think it through and just input the Quarn answer on autopilot. Got golems thrown at me for it. :)
I was really excited for Criterion dungeons, and figured Variant dungeons would be whatever. But the reality was basically the opposite. I had a blast going through the variant dungeons with a friend and figuring the puzzles out. The fight challenge in the Criterion was good, but it wasn't the kind of content I was hoping it would be. I wasn't expecting M+, but I was hoping it would be something that encouraged me to run it a bunch. But given I'm not hurting for materia, it's just another thing I can do to do. I would have loved to see some sub raid gear or something from this. Maybe 615 or 620 stuff. But all in all, I think these were a success and a good addition to the game. My only complaint is that I would have liked to see this as an opportunity to help fix the non raid progression in the game, which is my only serious complaint with the game. But this is a general criticism of the game as a whole, not a criticism failing on V&C dungeons. I'm hopeful that they find a way to shake up the non raid progression loop in the game at some point, even if they are reluctant to break the current mold. But just like the other chances they took along the way, at some point they'll have to make that leap. I just hope it's sooner rather than later, because I would hate for them to lose the momentum they've had recently.
I also came here to comment how sad to see this channel abandoned. You guys could produce a variety of content not just FF14 and there would be people who would watch it.
I did the entire variant solo and found the paths without a lick of hint. It was *obviously* nothing gigabrain because I am, in fact, a moron. But DAMN did it feel fun and enticing. Having to go off and still thinking "OK tomorrow, when I get back, I want to fail the balance and check the other lever", just to see what mechanic changes, just to see what lore entry it unlocks. Damn. WHEN was the last time I had FUN content to look forward to instead of grind I had to convince myself was worth in the end in an MMO? More of this, XIV Team. Please!
I don't think Variants are that great but if it's them trialing for dungeons 2.0 I think this is off to a really good start. Outside of maybe Vanaspati every Endwalker dungeon made me wish I could explore alternate paths so this form of dungeon would be very welcome. They obviously would need to throw away the variant actions along with the solo/any role support if those were to be the new design for dungeons, but the explorable part is a huge win for me.
I definitely wouldn't say this is "something no one asked for." Players have been asking for harder 4 player content literally as far back as the ARR days. Yes, it's more than just harder content, and yes, the variable dungeon isn't necessarily the same as the criterion, but the team made it clear that if they were going to do it, they wanted to do it right. This whole package has been the answer they've been working on for at LEAST 7 years.
The Sil'dih thing reminds me how I felt back in Heavensward when they introduced Palace of the Dead and finally did something with the great big hole in South Shroud with the explorers standing around it.
Leaving a comment cos I appreciate the videos! As well as cos this reminded me I forgot to do the Variant Dungeons! (Too busy playing GW2 recently thanks to the videos here and on JSH’s channel)
Honestly i think Criterion savage could have been saved with it not giving you a new token but like 12 /16/20 of the normal criterion tokens. a fast track to the mount or more materia faster for people who know what they're doing.
I'd be fine with more mid-tier rewards, the issue here isn't that the easier difficulties got a mount. It is that the harder difficulty did not ALSO get a mount.
I can't help but feel like they didn't want tip their toes too deep into the VDs, because they were worried the player base wasn't going to enjoy it, or they thought they wouldn't power the content as quickly as they did. Honestly, VDs were an amazing edition. They really listened to player feedback about dungeons not being tough enough and struck a healthy balance.
if they run out of ideas they can borrow from fans and players, they always have something in mind. They may not have the best ideas but they can be refined by the devs.
FF14 not having long lasting battle content is because they lack what the masochist love : RNG. Seriously if the dev start putting RNG in the loot without some pity limit, their battle content would last for longer time. Making the gear stat based on RNG would solve all this so called 'I don't have anything to do in the game' problem for the battle oriented player. After all it opened the gate to endless grind to get the best stat. But it isn't something that the FF14 dev use as business method. They wrap it nicely by saying that they want player to do something else beside doing their game but the thing is that they have realized that there is no difference in income between player who only play for a week in a month and player who play for 30 days in a month. If we dump Mogstation out of equation, the money that one player give is the same 12$. In a way, they will profit more with this than making a treadmill out of the game. Server won't be pushed to limit except for when they launch an expansion or patch, the daily claim would lessen since there aren't that many problem in the first place. If you think you're being tricked out of your money, remember annual theme park ticket exist. FF14 use the same principle of it down to the attraction. One might like Jet Coaster or Haunted House, but I doubt anyone would get into it everyday no matter how spectacular it was, maybe one would realize that the attraction weren't that exciting in the first place. Only because we go there from time to time that we enjoy the ride and the experience that we feel that our money was well spent. Having the theme park staff smiling to us increase the feeling. If you're not someone who like this kind of method, none of the FF14 content would satisfy you. Of course not, it isn't designed to be that way. They will fix what is needed but they will never make treadmill content for that is just not their business method. If you want this to change, you need to fire Yoshi-P and his whole staff and change it to other management who have treadmill mind. What would happen to the game after that though..... well, no one will know until the time come but it might become something similar to current WoW I think.
its super smart, cause guess what Square makes other games! and to drive sales, make sure that this game has a low point in content, release OTHER GAMES so that those consumers get a chance to play them as well. Win Win!
The crazy thing is that this comes after what would be the WoW equivalent of fighting off a Titan and saving the universe. In WoW you'd be right to complain that you're downgraded to the role of janitor for a task that is comparatively worthless, but in FF XIV they've played with the notion for so long, in so much depth that I can't help but easily accept that yes, this is the kind of person your character is.
Meh, I ran one path of Variant, it didn't really grab me, and I haven't touched it since. Waited a bit and bought the rewards off the market board, done.
I do hope that after they finish implementing Trust for all of MSQ the resources can be allocated to this and the Variant Dungeon can take the role of ARRs and HWs Hard Dungeons .. Ie side content that moves the story of an location a bit forward ... OR if that is not feasible ... just go back to that ...
I got the game in summer '21, I still havent finished msq yet, on EW currently. At first all the content was overwhelming so I just tunneled visioned and decided to stick to the story.
The other content it took me a while to get around to was the Alpha story they added. It was the best side story content I've done in the game I think. I enjoyed it so much. I hope they keep doing Alpha Omega stuff.
The lore and everything around the feature is top notch but soloing the variant itself was kind of a drag toward the end. A little bit too much heatlh and/or too little mechanics to keep the bosses exciting for me. Maybe I should not have done this in 3 days but I really wanted to read more pages of the journal.
I get on the game and no clue what to do anymore. All jobs to 90, side content done so many times I can't see straight, house built and decorated. So I hope they add more content or I will be forced to quit the game I really love. What do you do when you have done it all over and over and over again?
Why do I have a feeling this dungeons and depending what weapon or so you have to do for relic weapon ? (most likely I am wrong_ If people learn to appreciate moments to moment, they do not need to worry 'they won't release anything cool' ... they will maybe not be able to outdo themselves always but if people calm their demands and expectations, things will end well
The thing is there are many mounts that only come from savage or extreme content. For me I almost quit and still will if there is no rewarding content outside of the hardest content in the game. Your BIS gear is often from Savage raids so the average player won't and I hate saying it this way but they won't have a chance at that because they are like me and don't have the skill or they don't have the time to put into raiding. As WOW has come to find out pandering to one side or the other will make one side or the other mad so it is better to err on the side of caution.
Still looking good with that haircut Matt. Nice take on the new content. I've not run them yet but I'm looking forward to running solo. The comment section is pretty comical.
Your opinion about FFXIV is so cringe man, it's a good game...mediocre in some ways, great in some other ways...but sitting there calling it the best game ever made or whatever tf just makes it sound like you drank the FFXIV cult koolaid and its just...disingenuous as hell. You don't have to be so pushy about your praise of the game.
Loved the Variant dungeon. Just wish it lasted me a bit longer. I was done with it in a few days. Honestly can't be bothered with the savage mode. I started on it and just dont feel the drive to continue with it.
As a healer, yeah, I do a lot of side content to get more masculine glamours. Eureka has good sets and crafted sets can be really good with the right dyes.

Imagine abandoning a 77k subs channel. This is just sad, guys, and for no good reason.
They said 'this game is the greatest mmo ever' than just abandoned this channel 😂 so funny
not as many people play it as other games, so it's weird to say it's the greatest MMO ever.
@@aludrenknight1687 That's highly subjective anyway. And no numbers get released.
Same with Island Sanctuary! etc
True, now Diadem is quite good for gathering though
@@Mystra thats the point ya? Im mentioning that the first iteration of content is not crafted well enough on release, rather itll take a just a few patches to round out the edges. Yes, Diadem is great for gathering etc. bonus the zone looks great!

So I'm glad FFXIV has a bit of a focus on that as well.
agreed. I liked running it alone better. It's almost like a personal challenge that's not too long.
Sad to see this channel abandoned. There are other games out there, including MMOs, to talk about besides just WoW you guys.
Yeah, but WoW and the people who play it are a giant dumpster fire which lends itself to more profitable content.
Variant is so sick. I'm still farming for the Sewer Skink.
The rewards, especially for the harder modes, needs tweaking, but this is absolutely something I hope to see more of going forward.
RIP to what was a good channel, abandoned for seemingly no reason
Nah, it wasn't abandoned for no reason.
It was abandoned because they couldn't let go of WoW. As simple as that.
This was a pretty good channel...till they abandoned it.
I would argue everyone in the community asked for this… for about 6-7 years now. 😅
I think they asked for fhe criterion dungeons not the variant dungeons. (Harder 4 man content)
@@JP11999 the community has both asked for non-lineal dungeons and tougher 4 man content. Two separate things. And we’ve been asking for this since the dawn of the game

I'm just sort of confused, I thought this channel was supposed to be multi-faceted? like, yeah, FF was a focus, its time in the sun is over, I get that, where's...the rest? maybe the problem is that I'm not following The Main Channel, so I'm out of the loop, but. maybe update the channel description or something at least
did the channel die?
Meanwhile we had already covered extensively the 5th era content being Nym, Mhach and Amdapor.
valid, though I would also love to see more of what was going on with the floating city of Nym in Vylbrand.
@@Keira_Blackstone For that, you will want to do the Scholar job quests, as those cover some stuff about Nym.
Gelmorra's skeleton floating at the bottom of the pool:
Where did this lovely fellow go? Haven't seen him on the news channel lately, did he quit? I liked his stuff, very down to earth kinda guy.

Gelmorra Ruins.... The Deeper parts of the Mun Tuy Cellars, some of those lost 1.0 dungeons which are sealed off... so many options for future V+C content.
the speakers network series on lost 1.0 dungeons was very interesting i agree
-----
Criterion vs. Savage
a) There's only 1.8k recorded Criterion clears the past 2 weeks.
b) There are 1.2m (yes, million) recorded Abyssos clears the past 2 weeks.
-----
Criterion vs. Ultimate.
a) There's only 1.8k recorded Criterion clears the past 2 weeks.
b) There are actually 2.5k recorded DSR clears the past 2 weeks.
Even Ultimate, a content designed for the fucking 0.1% of the playerbase, is still more popular than Criterion. How do you make a content so unengaging and unrewarding, that even Ultimate is more popular than it?

I dearly miss this channel and the FFXIV content from the Bellular team.
I had a lot of fun soloing this dungeon
The xiv well ran out dry a while back all reskins and overlapping mechanics of already existing ones

There's very little regarding Sil'dih in the game, but there was a little extra in the 1.0 mining quest chain which is worth a watch imo - v=g6ydwFDmJ2g

at this point, for me, letting my FFXIV sub run out is out of the question. even if i take days, weeks, months long breaks from it, the dedication the devs have shown, the entertainment value i've got from the game, the sheer adoration i have developed towards it are more than enough to not only make me not regret it, but actually make me feel "they easily deserve it, and more.". not entry level sub, but 6 months standard sub (both of which value-wise are the same, but one is 6 months in one go), while i have no more than a single character.

people are giving you shit for this, but honestly, I have derived enough joy from this game that it honestly is worth 15 bucks a month from me for the rest of my life. It's changed my whole world for the better and I wish everyone could experience it.
The people that gave you crap for this are toxic and ignorant. Nothing wrong with supporting a game you love.
New hairstyle suits you :)

Gearing especially
But this is the ffxiv community so nothing I’m saying could actually be an issue with the game, obviously it has to be an issue with me right?
What happened to this channel? Why was it abandoned?
simple FF14 really sucks most youtubers, streamers already left WoW is rising again
Maybe a non tribalistic adult can answer this
@@realKiraMG What the guy said is right, this game is terrible for content and not really suited to channels like this, especially if they're playing the game on a more casual level which limits their content, and even raiders mostly get their content from limited events like progging/world first discussions or recently fucking around with the drama.

I really miss this channel.. Can we please have a FFXIV channel or something. It's really kind of meh that FFXIV has been left on backburner.
What's also great about the scales is that if you remember this from the arr dungeon you already know the pairings.
Please!
As far as live service games go, this is probably the best problem to have.
just beat dawntrail. you guys would love it. come on, we miss ya!
yes such good content how great I can’t wait to do 1 every 2 years how fulfilling we sure are spoiled for choice huh
Always great to see a vid on this channel.
On variant dungeon you say nobody asked for it somebody did his name is asmon, that's why the NPC to unlock it is called osmon
Why is this content still up?
The variant dungeon is so fun to run solo
"If FF keeps adding content like this it'll be one of the biggest and one of the best games of all time"
Fucking LOL
Wish we could have WoW’s art direction and setting coupled with such obvious care for mechanics, gameplay, worldbuilding, fun and the solo experience.
Had the same thought!
@@laja6108 Uncanny! Quick, what number am I thinking of right now?
@@reeven1721 21
@@laja6108 Awww. 7. :(
@@reeven1721 alright, I know you won’t believe me, but i originally thought 7. Knew I should of went with first guess.
So, have y'all given up on FFXIV?
if they run out of ideas they can borrow from fans and players, they always have something in mind.
Win Win!
@@miqotesoulia8620 Then they do a self-collab with FF14 later on the date. Profit. XD
I'm a simple man, I see Matt, I click!
Matt rocking the haircut.
The variant and criterion dungeons will be a good baseline for future dungeons, mayhaps.
(most likely I am wrong_
If people learn to appreciate moments to moment, they do not need to worry 'they won't release anything cool' ... they will maybe not be able to outdo themselves always but if people calm their demands and expectations, things will end well
The thing is there are many mounts that only come from savage or extreme content.
Look at the WOW cultist who thinks people that like other games are Cultists.
You people are insane.
WTF happened to this channel? There was no update, they just stopped posting....
Loved the Variant dungeon. Just wish it lasted me a bit longer. I was done with it in a few days. Honestly can't be bothered with the savage mode. I started on it and just dont feel the drive to continue with it.
So... I think you can monetize more from Warcraft content so let's drop this channel
Am I right?
i disagree, FF14 is suffering from overwhelming community at times, and lack of masculine clothing options for healers
and hoods for black mages jesus christ 😞
Can you explain how FFXIV suffers from a "overwhelming community" the majority of players don't even know that those small number of people exist
As a healer, yeah, I do a lot of side content to get more masculine glamours. Eureka has good sets and crafted sets can be really good with the right dyes.
Or casting gear that isn’t a robe. Poor RDM has to fence with all that material…
What even is "masculine clothing"?
not related to the video but Matt, you look way better with the shorter clean-cut look!!
I really enjoyed the content, though I didn't read any of the entries.
I enjoy the passion but as someone that hasn't done variant dungeons yet, a little lore spoiler warning would have been appreciated.
