It really is a great tactical marine. Truly amazing how much effort FW are putting into the sculpting of the rank and file troops for the XX legion. Jokes aside, Apharius really is a superb model. I'd say he's easily among the best of the primarchs, and by my tastes, only Horus stands as a clear superior. Now a large part of that may be a personal strong preference for helmeted models, but even still, the sculptor has struck a phenomenal balance between enough detail to befit a primarch and enough simplicity to be believable as a stand in, as suits the hydra, all the while keeping it an utterly striking center piece.
I need a single, lone tactical marine for "special duties" now. I'm in agreement with you that Alpharius is amongst the best of the Primarch models produced so far. I put him with Angron and Lorgar for my top three (always the villians) and the pose of the model opens up conversion opportunities as well. Now, where can I get a spare Horus head from? 🤔
Nice to see his plasma blaster has a grip. After that Space Wolves Legion Praetor debacle and the angle of the Alpharius preview pics on Warhammer Community, I was a little concerned.
I think you have a point there, I was comparing the Lernaean (oops, spoilers!) to the original FW cataphractii and these new sculpts are very impressive.
Good stuff! Can't wait to pick him up when he goes on general sale. Some phenomenal work by the sculptor there, both Alpharius and the Praetor sets are looking really impressive.
Such a great looking model! I hope we can expect to see the Lernean terminators as well as the praetors when they're released haha! I'm very tempted to pick some of these up just due to the cool factor! On another note, just wanted to say that I've started posting videos after following you for most of your RUclips career (used to post under Austin Essex). Thanks for posting cool stuff and enriching the hobby scene here!
Keep an eye out for those Lernaean coming to camp a RUclips video near you soon! Thanks for the kind words and good on you for trying your own hand at YT 👍🏻
Great review, as always. I attended on Sunday, my first time, and I picked up Alpharius amongst other items and I have to agree, a fantastic miniature. Mine was flawlessly cast with the exception of nasty mould slips on the inside of the legs which actually have turned out fine after clean up. I really enjoyed the event and will be going next year hopefully.
Paul Murray Thank you kind sir! Glad you had a good 'Fest and I have to agree with you that it was a great day. The fact we both have a one of these has put a question in my mind: what do you call a group of Alpharius impersonators?
that can't be Alpharius because I AM ALPHARIUS.... and he is Alpharius and you are Alpharius and she is Alpharius and they are Alpharius..... Great looking model it was probley done by Simon Eagon as he does most of the Primarch models, he might also be the guy who does the scales on the Alpha Legion upgrade kits like the head hunters.... Awesome video as always Leaky. I hope Mrs Cheese and the cheeselets are doing well also my friend. :)
Egan is probably who did him as he is the Primach man. I didn't see him to talk to at the Fest, hope to catch him at the July event. Glad you enjoyed the video mate and thanks for the kind wishes.
This Primarch is fantastic. Easily one of their best. Also, it seems the new AL Terminator sculpts turned out great too. Lessons learned from the abysmal Space Wolf sculpts, I seems
Looking forward to it! Best FW content on RUclips, as always. Just indulged in their strange little Dreadnought "sale" with a 3rd Leviathan for my Fury of the Ancients force.
Dorn is fortifying his box. I'm struggling so much deciding on Alpha Legion or Raptors chapter for my second army. Both are shooty and sneaky. I just can't decide though, CSM gets some neat options but their 40k models are pretty dated, and going forgeworld is something I haven't done before because they are fairly pricy, but man their Alpha Legion models are amazing. Plus using Alpharius as a generic CSM character and having him only become my warlord with I am Alpharius after they all die sounds great and hilarious. Raptors have a cool chapter master with no model so all kinds of kitbashing potential and a much easier paint scheme, plus better loyalist models in plastic.
Is this an Alpha Marines loyalist successor chapter? Sounds both interesting and dangerously heretical if the Inquisition find out! Have you written any fluff for them?
I thought the XX Legion is loyalist. I remember reading that the legion at large don't worship chaos. They see chaos as a tool like a bolter or a titan.
My gaming group has a couple of "community armies" and one is a 40k Alpha Legion warband, and i think im gonna get "Alpharius" paint him up and add him to it, probably paint that unfortunate marine as one of my Silver Skulls...if he earns it.
Having gotten into proper miniature 40k via admech, I wanted to go into Forge World eventually, but that's pretty much gone out of the window with the continual delay of Fires of Cyraxus, and now the unexpected discontinuation of the 30k Dominus :/
Landkomtur If I'd been Forge World I'd have put a surprise prize voucher in a single box instead of the miniature. Because the Hydra likes to mess with people.
Obviously you can paint the base in whatever way you want but, at what point in the HH fluff does the alpha legion fight the space wolves planetside? I thought that they fought only in ship to ship engagement?
At 8:54, you mention Homen, Homan or Homan pattern of armour. Google is throwing a blank, could you give me a pointer? What resource describes this pattern? What might make an interesting educational video, would be a description and critique of the various well known and lesser known patterns of power and Terminator armour. I understand the Iron Hands have a few unique variants of their own, so specific variants from all of the legions would be useful. Also, how the Custodes and Sisters of Silence patterns differ to those worn by the legions. And of course, the armour of Big E himself, when he developed it and if it changes throughout the Crusade and Heresy. Also, if the information is available, non Astartes variants such as those worn by high ranking officials on the battlefield, through to the patterns available to the Inquisition, Ministorum and others in later millennia. The more I learn about Dorn before I paint him, the better. Cheers for another great video!
Mikey R Ah, the "Homen" pattern armour was me saying "common" but I chopped a bit to much of the "C" out in editing as it can through too strong over the mike and I wanted to spare the ears of headphone users. That's a great idea for a video! In particular it would be fun when combined with the actual models that were made in the various suits.
leakycheese did Macharius wear power armour on the field? Surely, the greatest general of the Imperial Army, and one of the Emperors most valuable lieutenants, would be fairly well protected?
Normally I just use my sharp British wit to cut through the plastic, but I know some people from elsewhere in the world need to see knives so I drop the odd one in.
It looks similar to the other primarchs wearing artificer armour that Forge World has produced.... it is a different proportion to what you get with Astartes but then again these are demigods.
I'm getting a bit tired of the whole I am Alpharius joke to be honest. I'm getting tired of the whole Dark Angels are traitors because it's the worst kept secret in history joke too. It's an in-joke, and any in-joke has it's use-by date. It's getting old now. It's getting pretty gross and mouldy and it reeks. It was funny for a while when it was something fresh and original, but now everybody knows it, now everybody collects Horus Heresy or at least tries to, and now everybody knows about the lore... it's officially gotten old.
Wow, can’t believe they gave you a random Alpha Legion space marine instead of Alpharius!
Tristan Bigornia I want a refund!
It would be funny if there was a randomization of the boxes where it says Omegon in the receipt or label but the inside is still the exact same model.
That would be cool!
I love this ferris manus review, finally a great leader for your iron hands
We are all Alpharius.
Was half expecting an empty box
Jerf That would have been funny!
The Primarch is in another castle
probably one of the best Primarch models IMO
FBeskimo Agreed mate, he's in my top three with Angron and Lorgar.
Came from the future to say thag The Lion looks dope!
It really is a great tactical marine. Truly amazing how much effort FW are putting into the sculpting of the rank and file troops for the XX legion.

I think that sad episode has been put to bed now.
I'm Alpharius and so is my wife!
(Someone had to.)
Who wears the Pythian Scales in your relationship then? 🤣
What if you made alpharius armor into the marine and the marine to the alpharius model.
Great detail on the body and backpack. Love that they included the injured marine. Agreed on the magnet base and pinned spear.
Such crisp detail. The improvements from casts of even a couple of years ago is crazy to see.
I think you have a point there, I was comparing the Lernaean (oops, spoilers!) to the original FW cataphractii and these new sculpts are very impressive.
-deploys army
-tries to deny which one is Alpharius...
I am looking forward to adding this one to my collection, loverly looking in every way, Great review/unboxing as always
Cheers buddy!
I’m Batma...I mean, I’m Alpharius
Good stuff! Can't wait to pick him up when he goes on general sale. Some phenomenal work by the sculptor there, both Alpharius and the Praetor sets are looking really impressive.
Cheers mate! The Forge World crew are nailing it with this year's Alpha Legion releases, at the moment they are in the top-tier of the heresy range.
Such a great looking model! I hope we can expect to see the Lernean terminators as well as the praetors when they're released haha! I'm very tempted to pick some of these up just due to the cool factor!

The fact we both have a one of these has put a question in my mind: what do you call a group of Alpharius impersonators?
leakycheese Alpharius
leakycheese I dunno, a bunch of politicians?😜
How can anyone hate the Alpha legion where its the only legion you get to be a Primarch when u feel like it. mmm
that can't be Alpharius because I AM ALPHARIUS.... and he is Alpharius and you are Alpharius and she is Alpharius and they are Alpharius..... Great looking model it was probley done by Simon Eagon as he does most of the Primarch models, he might also be the guy who does the scales on the Alpha Legion upgrade kits like the head hunters.... Michael Houle Alpharius is the true Big Boss, the Man Who Sold The World... And Omegon is his Phantom.
Now I'm going to spend the time and money on him, pics were good but this was a game changer. Thank you
This Primarch is fantastic. Easily one of their best. Also, it seems the new AL Terminator sculpts turned out great too. Lessons learned from the abysmal Space Wolf sculpts, I seems
Agreed mate! The Lernaean are absolutely stunning... keep and eye out tomorrow ;)
Looking forward to it! Best FW content on RUclips, as always. Just indulged in their strange little Dreadnought "sale" with a 3rd Leviathan for my Fury of the Ancients force.
Now to settle in and wait for the pre-order...
Alpharius is patient.
Great looking model, really impressive work, cant wait to add it to my collection :D
Agreed, this is the Forge World we know and love!
30k Primarch with a 40k space wolf? 🤦🏻♂️
Lil' Alphy is a gorgeous model...must...resist! You play orks! Wait for a warboss!
Nice review thanks

Do you remember how you found cleaning up the mold lines?
Great opening mate!
Heheh ;)
I like an unboxing video... especially of models I can't afford
Live the heresy vicariously through this channel!
Anyone else expecting a regular alpha legionnaire in the box?
While I would have been gobsmacked it would have been interesting!
Honestly it’s be pretty funny if FW offered a “gag” Alpharius, where they just send you a random Primarch/marine
It's clearly an Alpha Legion marine disguised as Alpharius or Omegon. That's the reason why there is no bare head option
mrt181 Have I been had here? Ringing Forge World in the morning for a refund.
I didn’t know they released Lion El Johnson?
Of course he's not Alpharius, I'm Spartacus...I mean Spartacus...grrr, Alpharius! I'm Spartacus! Damn it!
Beautiful!
Agreed!
It's not Alpharius, Omegon or an Alpha Legionairre at all. He is the Chapter Master of my homebrew! (or at least, he will be)
He is both no one and everyone 😆
Is this an Alpha Marines loyalist successor chapter? Sounds both interesting and dangerously heretical if the Inquisition find out! Have you written any fluff for them?
I thought the XX Legion is loyalist. I remember reading that the legion at large don't worship chaos. They see chaos as a tool like a bolter or a titan.
Well....I think i may make my first Forge World purchase when this goes on general sale. lol.
They have finally got you... with Alpharius! Feels sort of fitting if you ask me ;)
My gaming group has a couple of "community armies" and one is a 40k Alpha Legion warband, and i think im gonna get "Alpharius" paint him up and add him to it, probably paint that unfortunate marine as one of my Silver Skulls...if he earns it.
Everybody is Alpharius
Indeed they are. Hydra Dominatus 🐍
We are all Alpharius ....😜

Kodaemon Cyraxus should be out late this year.
1:10 Do you have a knife license for that?
Yes, Alpharius granted it to me.
Somehow it would have been funny if there was any other miniature in the package, just not alpharius.
Henry the 9th Good question! I suspect that is going to happen in this Chondax thingy that Malevolence will explore.
At 8:54, you mention Homen, Homan or Homan pattern of armour. Google is throwing a blank, could you give me a pointer? What resource describes this pattern?

Habbahabba, resin-porn incoming. ..dangerlevel: Red. Exelent review mate😎
You got that one right mate! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks 😊
How big is he compared to a Primaris marine?
I am Spartacus!
Hey that looks like my boss
Isn't that Night Haunter?
leakycheese good job I play nighty lords fewww
I'm Omegon
Malcador Sigilite They should do a special Omegon edition of this model.
STEAK KNIFE?? I THOUGHT BRITS DIDN'T NEED KNIVES OR GUNS!!!! LOL
Normally I just use my sharp British wit to cut through the plastic, but I know some people from elsewhere in the world need to see knives so I drop the odd one in.
Ok, but do we really know if that's alpharius?
Ok, had to get that joke out of the way.
Had to be done 😁
But is it really alpharius?
Incredible but also roll on the Ork Primarch who is too high class to actually shop there.
Another Rogal Dorn review? Odd.
WheelmanMatt I know, something odd is happening here.
Do you think Alpharius has a moustache?
why do you keep saying sculpted? Isnt it all done via cad now on the pc?
Personal opinion, but I'd still consider that sculpting - just digital instead of physical.
It's virtual sculpting 😁
Plus saying CAD all the time makes me think of a poorly behaved man with a proclivity for breaking women's hearts.
That's not Alpharius it's Steve, or is it Dave.
Wait I've got it, it's Frank.
Baz, someone said this one is Baz 🤔
leakycheese No, I think it's Bruz...
he's not got a mega base..........
Same size as Angron and Lorgar.... I guess that’s a taste thing depending if people like the larger display bases or not.
I think for the money they should all have the option of a larger base
Alpharius...or?
The thighs look far too skinny, in my opinion. This makes me feel sad.
It looks similar to the other primarchs wearing artificer armour that Forge World has produced.... it is a different proportion to what you get with Astartes but then again these are demigods.

Time for even more Alpharius jokes! 😁
Aww, come on man...
