    Thanks for the continued relevant and informative scholarship. For ESPB, it works pretty well but the duration is about 6 hours empirically for thoracic/rib fix indications despite epinephrine and decadron. It needs catheters to be of meaningful duration.

      You are absolutely right. The effective analgesic duration (depends somewhat on setting) for single-injection blocks (most fascial plane blocks) is indeed 6-12h. So for any condition where severe pain is likely to last for days vs hours (I have seen one reference indicating rib fracture pain peaks at 5 days), a catheter is definitely indicated.

      I personally would not. Mainly because you cannot get surgical anesthesia in case the labour fails and the gyno proceeds with a c sec.
