  • This morning, the 3rd of November 2022, was a special one, as I shared the entire morning with Male lions, female lions and beautiful Elephants. We also visited the S26 sight where recent events took place, to have a moment of silence for the fallen Lion King. It was a special morning, as I drove right next to one of the biggest male lions I have seen. One of the Gomondwane Males, his name is "The Tank" for a reason. He was majestic and elegant, beautiful! A Safari morning to remember in the Kruger National Park!

    Another wonderful video! I have several questions, hope that is okay: 1) The elephants were a big bonus - question is I'm assuming that a male elephant is larger than the females but from a distance, is it easy to spot a male amongst females? 2) You mentioned "The King" lion who was killed - do male lions regularly roam the countryside looking for other males to kill? Do they take over that pride then? 3) Is the male lion's mane a defense during attack to protect the throat/neck area? thanks again for all that you do.

    • @krugersafariandbeyond
      @krugersafariandbeyond  Год назад +2

      I appreciate you watching Holger, really makes me happy that you enjoy my content 🙏🦁Elephants can be easily identified from behind, to see if it's male or female, just need to know what to look for. Very good question 😁. Lions can travel MILES at night, patrolling, scouting ect. If they do come across another male in the area, it's not always a bloodbath however. They will always first test the waters, escape if they are quick enough. They remain cats though, so territory is extremely important, and mostly turns out fatal if the oppressed lions are cornered. Look at what the Mapogo's did, they lived to kill, and that alone. And lastly, you are 100 % correct. That is indeed why the mains are there, and obviously to keep other things out as well. But due to their nature of taking over territory ect, they were built like this, created for defending territory.
