When I hit L17 I immediately joined a faction then ran 3 faction missions. Due to the daily bonus you get for the first 3 missions I had enough faction currency to upgrade both weapons, every armor piece and the 4 gathering tools, and the xp was also enough to hit L20. That first buy of faction armor/weapons is guaranteed to give you BIG upgrades.

That's a huge point! A lot of people go through the game without looking at the faction vendor. It's sad

After you get your mount, be sure to feed it 3x daily to help level it

Yeah, my fun is exploring and gathering while completing some missions. Gathering, apparently levels you fairly quick but I’m sure it is slower than hitting mission rewards quickly. I’m a slow explore type of player. I will say my first thing was to run to every settlement I could actually reach, to unlock the quick travel and shed for storage. Gave me 8 thousand storage right away.

Very good point! With all the storages being connected you would think they would have just one inventory but it's good for us they didn't.

Do ONLY the main quest storyline. The rest is for leveling areas to buy a house. They aren't needed. I haven't done a single side quest and it took me two days of playing casually to hit lvl 50 and now heading in to lvl the rest of the way up and the only thing I've done is a few dungeons to get geared, and then main quests only. Saving the rest for when I decide where to buy my first house.

AGS did a great job making the leveling experience easier. That's for sure. I still recommend doing 3 expeditions daily because of the material and currency you get with it. But just MSQ is a good way to go as well
