  • This is a demonstration of the unused, unplayable and bonus character's profiles in the PS2 version of Soul Calibur 2. Read on below for more information...
    This is a demonstration of the unused, unplayable and bonus character's profiles in the Character Profiles mode. These characters usually CANNOT be selected in this mode. Additionally, this video will also show the final boss Inferno in the Exhibition Theater.
    The characters featured are: Wovama, Q.Takagi, Inferno, Assassin and Lizardman. It is important to note that all these characters use an unselectable and unused stage background which appears to be some sort of "test" area. The stage looks to be an early version of the Imperial Capital Ayutthaya stage (the Thailand one), with semi-transparent buildings and walls.
    Here is the information on each character's profiles:
    ===== WOVAMA =====
    Interestingly, she has Link's (from Zelda) profile in the Profile section, despite Link not being in this version of the game. Stage profile is blank. Has regular Cassandra's voices, but the quotes don't match the voice that plays.
    ===== Q.TAKAGI =====
    Interestingly, she has Spawn's profile in the Profile section, despite Spawn not being in this version of the game. Stage profile is blank. Only has 2 Cassandra voices, both don't match what the quote says.
    ===== INFERNO =====
    Profile and Stage fields are blank. Has 80 voices, 1 to 33 are silent, and 33 to 80 are Inferno's voices (I think). The voices obviously don't match the quote.
    ===== ASSASSIN =====
    Profile field shows the Eurydice Shrine Gallery description, which is actually a stage background. Stage field is blank and only has 2 voices with the quote box being blank.
    ===== LIZARDMAN =====
    Profile and Stage fields are blank, and only has "2" voices, both sounding the same with the quote box being blank.
    ==== Inferno in Exhibition Theater ====
    Rather surprisingly, Inferno actually has a "demonstration" in Exhibition Theater mode. However it is not a weapon demo, instead it seems to be a sequence of some sort.
    ===== Additional Information =====
    ---- In the Character Endings mode, all unused, unplayable and bonus characters will lock up the game if you select them.
    ---- In the Exhibition Theater mode, Assassin, Berserker and Lizardman will lock the game if you select them.
    ---- The other extra/bonus character Berserker locks the game in the Character Profiles, Exhibition Theater and Character Endings modes.
    ===== About Soul Calibur II =====
    Soul Calibur 2 is one of the best weapon-based 3D fighters of all time. The graphics are of course nowhere near as good as SC4 or SC5, but what makes SC2 great is that it's probably got the most "balanced" and "simple-but-deep" gameplay out of the series. It also caters to single players as there are a healthy amount of unlockables to discover as well in the console ports.

    I like how Cassandra's wearing her "Link" outfit when the game gives her Link's info!

    The stage looks so cool like that. Reminds me alot of Spyro 2.

    Inferno's demonstration is just Charade's... Kinda makes sense though in a way.

    Wovama was apparently briefly mentioned in a 2002 Gaming magazine, as a 'blonde female warrior'. Which suggests to me that she was a character that was either turned into Cassandra quite early on in development (Cassandra's earliest mention is in Soul Blade, as Sophitia's sister, albeit her name is rendered as 'Kathandra'.), or possibly just never went beyond a concept and they left her in the game unfinished. Q. Takagi seems to be entirely a test character, named after Cassandra's Japanese voice actress. Why there are two test characters that use Cassandra's models, I don't know, but perhaps she went through a lot of different concepts before they settled upon what they wanted her to be. Inferno I'm genuinely thinking was supposed to be playable at one point, unless he was just 'cloned' from Charade.

    I'll admit, I half expected Wovama to use The Legend of Zelda theme for the background music, considering the profile she uses.

    I don't know how Link's code was in the PS2 version?

      There actually is leftover data for Link and Spawn in the PS2 version! I'm not sure if they're playable however.

    You thought it was Wovama, but it was me, Link!
    [edit]: I find funny how Q. Takagi has Hellfire, Inferno's theme, while Inferno has Hubris, Xianghua's/Mitsurugi's theme.

      The music themes are random for these characters.

      The irony is that Link's main clothing attire is green, and he's also a blonde as well. Then there's the BotW cross-dressing thing... I'll stop right there.

    Oh dear
    Also, Inferno's Weapon Demonstration "Demo" is actually Charade's. Might wanna put that in :V

      Yes. It's actually noticeable very easily, if you look closely, you can see that the animation doesn't quite respond correctly to Inferno's body, some parts aren't rigged correctly. But it could've been planned for Inferno, but he was instead replaced by Charade.

    I'm surprised that Link and Spawn's Bios exist despite them being console Exclusive. Now I'm curious if all console-exclusive chars have data present on the version they don't normally appear in.

    maybe spawn and link were suppose to replace wovama and takagi since they got scrapped but they got cut and placed in individual ports seperate

    • @Ekraelum
      @Ekraelum 6 лет назад +1

      I think it's just the way the computer recognizes Wovama and Q. Takagi. Let's remember that sometimes, each port has leftovers from the other ports.
