I do still care about fuel economy. What I didn't care about was every evaluator needing to make this a powerful exotic. (it is not) This car is fabulous for what it is. Top down fun, much more space than needed for a quick run to the coast for the weekend, the insurance isn't stupid, it's less than $50,000 base price, it's reliability is without question, and you just feel good driving it, top up or down.. Go Porsche! I just finished a tester for three days and I concur. It is fantastic. Just don't expect 911 power from the baby of the bunch.
Lots of people forget that after extending or releasing the cup holders, you’re supposed to press the cup holder cover back into place. That locks the extended cup holder arms into place and you won’t run into your latte moving side to side around turns.
If you buy your coffee from Starbucks, then you deserve it to spill all over your car. Also I disagree about the steering wheel with buttons. A steering wheel is for driving. Put the buttons elsewhere.
Poor review - having personally owned and daily driven a Boxster for 10 years, your criticism shows you obviously “ don’t get it”. These cars are much more than their cup holders, which BTW are just fine.
lol i just priced a porsche boxter online with every single option possible got a grand total of 118K. added 67k worth of options more than the car itself haha gotta love porsche options
I have to agree with the conclusion: No regrets after buying it. Not even about the cup holders! And please correct your article: The Boxster still only has a 3 pot gauge cluster and the sport design steering wheel is an option and not tied to the SportsChrono package (although I prefer its paddles over the stupid buttons on the multifunction steering wheel).
Why the fuck you guys complain about the cup holders, when my SLK doesn't even have one? That's simply ridiculous. Who the fuck would drink coffee while driving ?
Cup holder is a must have thing on car and with this money for thjs. U should get better cup holders, or how can u buy drinks for a long trip. Be realistic ppl
how come everyone that says you can't afford it, can't tell you any upkeep cost? Oh, IT's because they don't have one and are repeating what they heard.
Lee oil changes every 10k mi. Minor service $350-400 then major service $800-1000 every other service. Sport tires tend to change every 20k mi at $1300-1600. If you’re used to German autos it’s not much more than typical services. Not sure about brakes costs yet.
I agree with you about the cup holders, We people in North America love are Star bucks or Tim Hortons. its pretty shitty that there no really cup holder. Porsche, START PUTTING REAL CUP HOLDERS IN YOUR CARS!!! lol
The cup holders are brilliant; better with bottles than top heavy coffee cups, and much nicer than the ugly black basketball hoop they put in some Porsches.
I like the Boxster, but I agree with you, when Porsche tries to ripoff their customers as much as they do with their options, they need to make proper cupholders. Unfortunately for Porsche there is a big elephant in the room coming to eat their lunch, the new Jag F Type and it is going to eat a lot of their sales. I am definitely considering getting one.
+ZZZ ZZZ I have a loan of over $100,000 and the insurance in my new hometown is cheaper than where I used to live and I make almost $59,000 a year. I'm 27 and I've never had an accident since I started driving at 23. I've heard that the Boxster is the poor man's Porsche.
+AJ R "Poor man's Porsche" was coined decades ago, but non-Porsche owners who couldn't afford any porsche much less a 911. It doesn't refer to upkeep. These days, to a new Porsche, even the base model means you have to well off, usually making well over 100k a year.
They cost as much as everywhere else - Porsche does not use golden brakes and filters, they use regular ones. Expensive is having it serviced by Porsche. I spent ca 500 bucks on the first service for oil + brake fluid at Porsche, just to get my virgin service booklet stamped; had two rear tyres changed for ca 500 bucks at a tyre shop (Porsche-rated P Zero); bought everything for the front brake pad job for ca 100 bucks (orig. OEM parts by Textar as used by Porsche), you would pay a lot of money for Porsche to do it, but I'll do it myself... nothing broke in 3 years at all, so that and 2 litres of oil are my expenses. You can extend Porsche guarantee by 2 years for ca 2500 bucks, depending on where you are located in the world...
Dear American Drivers, Hanz here, we will put cupholders the way you like as soon as you learn to pronounce our brand correctly...it is PORSCHHHH AND NOT PORCHAAA. Sincerely Hanz LOL
i would throw out any passenger trying to drink in my new porsche while im driving. cupholder doesnt make sense to me sorry. if u drive that tamed warying about spilling ur coffee over u better get something else and not a sportscar... my 0.5 cent...
it's not so much the total number, it's the way in which the power is produced, as well as the somewhat long effective gearing in the base 981 that leaves/left many a little unsatisfied.

Not really the point mate, He was saying the lack of
depth is why that happens, not having the fnacy cover back over the top
The cup holders are adjustable and work fine. The Boxster is a sports roadster, controls on the steering wheel is not needed.

Wow, this reviewer need to get his facts straight...
I stopped the video at the cupholders.

2019 I'm now laughing at this comment 💀💀💀
this is one of the worst reviews
Cup holder is a must have thing on car and with this money for thjs. U should get better cup holders, or how can u buy drinks for a long trip. Be realistic ppl
Hard top or hard top with sun roof is preferred
Curious: how would you compare it with Mazda MX-5, better overall despite dollar value?
not even in the same class
best autoguide journalist, good stuff!
The previous Boxster wasn't cutesy either.
Stop going to Starbucks and put a lid in your coffee if u do
Zero regrets apart from the cupholder

Americans and their cars. "Where do I put my Big Gulp!"
Good point about the Cup holder

Fix the cupholders Porsche!!! N.America needs it..
Just close de Panel of the Cupholder after you got it out, then noting splashes out ..... ;-)
Sells used for $30k now
You can pay 400 dollars for an ecu tune get it to 300hp and more torque than the S
How much is the maintenance on brakes, tires, strut, wheel alignment, oil pan,oil filter, and air filter?
+AJ R If you have to ask about routine maintenance you can't afford it.
+ZZZ ZZZ I have a loan of over $100,000 and the insurance in my new hometown is cheaper than where I used to live and I make almost $59,000 a year. I'm 27 and I've never had an accident since I started driving at 23. I've heard that the Boxster is the poor man's Porsche.

не забыл) и вы непереживайте)
How can this guy talk about CUP HOLDERS in a sports car.
He should review a Chevy Van!
Finally colum wood is back!!!!!
don't listen to him, you are right. There is no silent "e" in the German language.
49k In 2013???? that’s such a rip off you can pay 49k in 2023 and get a much much much better car even after inflation
hmm my german friend tells me it's Porsch"a".
Dear American Drivers, Hanz here, we will put cupholders the way you like as soon as you learn to pronounce our brand correctly...it is PORSCHHHH AND NOT PORCHAAA. Sincerely Hanz LOL
great review as always
Looks like a Carrera GT on a diet. Nice!
actually it is, 1 AU = $1.05
So pretty
pretty sure thats beige interior, not gray.
it's the gray.
Yes, now that you cursed them I'm sure they will.
I was told by a Porsche owner, get the newest you can afford, keep have an account with $3,000.00 for unexpected repairs, you should be fine.
Ummm...this show is Canadian, not American...and not everybody pronounces it Porscha, most pronounce it Porsche.
Why does he talk like he's being played at x0.8 speed?
Tf there are still boxsters selling for 50k or more
Yeah thats what you got to be careful about when buying one haha
the s model
i would throw out any passenger trying to drink in my new porsche while im driving. cupholder doesnt make sense to me sorry. if u drive that tamed warying about spilling ur coffee over u better get something else and not a sportscar... my 0.5 cent...
Fuel economy... Ha

If it doesn't have S on the rear then it's not worth having
only good reviewer on auto guide everyone else is way to borring.
U picked up some weight
10 years later and this still looks like a basic car
??????
proch?? LOL
You say that 265 hp in under 3000 pounds weight car is slow...
it's not so much the total number, it's the way in which the power is produced, as well as the somewhat long effective gearing in the base 981 that leaves/left many a little unsatisfied.
911 Turbo S or GT3 or 918 spyder, if not one of those don't buy a Porsche.
Spirittism bullshit. This is just pure snobism.
ugly car all proch are ugly they will go bankrupt ı am sure
