The video is misleading. This product called "Vegan Leather" is produced in the same way as PU and PVC. There is no difference and, above all, it is an equally polluting material.
I guess you believe solar panels are not good for the environment too? It’s an evolutionary process moving away from animal products and would be great if you could offer an alternative instead of just being negative about it. Thanks

If it's "vegan leather" it will definitely start peeling and cracking. Get full grain or top grain leather from reputable places which will last almost a lifetime
Most of the leather I buy is veg tanned cowhide, which will decompose if you bury it. Most low end fasion companies uses crappy leather that is bad for the environment. I think these guys are great but we should also push for tanning cowhide with natural tannins. Because cowhide will always a readliy available as long as there is beef
oh nopal what can not be done with it? It is a wonderful plant, in Mexico it is prickly pear and it is also eaten and it is delicious very delicious apart from healthy °0°
People don't understand leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. Cows and steers are not raised just for leather, because leather is actually relatively cheap, and therefore not worth the cost of raising the animal for. In fact, massive amounts of animal skins from the meat industry is burned or buried in landfills because people don't use leather. This is a complete waste of materials and resources. TL;DR: People should use *MORE* leather as animal skins are often a wasted byproduct of the meat industry.
"Lasts *up to* 10 years" is kinda a problem. That means 10 years is the expected maximum lifespan of the product, so it's probably going to degrade further in that time.
This is great! Is this sustainable though? The farm looks like it destroyed the soil. I’m imagining this on a large scale it might not be good for land
Can you answer some more question regarding this, does cactus monocropping can become a problem? what kind of dyes are used? this process is definitely good step but does it consider sustainability overall as the company grows?
Great great great idea....but it says that the cactus leather last for up to 10 years and the cactus leather is just about the same price as animal leather. If I pay top price for the seats in my car or my wife Louis Vuitton hand bag, jacket, pants or whatever else, I expect the leather to last a lifetime. Not to worry I cannot afford any of the expensive stuff out there but the ones who can afford all that expensive stuff will probably not want to pay that much for something that is going to degrade within 10 years.
the only problem i see with this is leather industries going out of business from people seeing the cactus leather a better alternative but what do you now do with the cow hide? we cant just waste it
I'm on a lot of land here in South Australia and would like to grow for you. How do I contact you? I have call you in mexico but have lost the details on how to contact them. Please reply with information. There are hundreds of acres waiting to be planted here.
Plant-based leathers and cork are not very mainstream and are thus still very expensive. So today, the great debate of two options: animal vs synthetic leather... it's a tough debate for sure. There is a third option with 2 sub options -- recycled synthetic leather. 1) old windshields upcycled to make synthetic leather, 2) recycled pre or post-consumer polyester mixed with recycled polyurethane to make synthetic leather. What do you and your viewers think about these? Also, there is a fourth option: recycled animal leather. It is composed of old scrap animal leather and post-consumer recycled polyester to make new material. Would you and your viewers agree that using recycled materials, whereby the recycled material composition is maximized, does more environmental cleanup overall?
Recycling is not the best practice for environment, Saying no to that thing is best i think, If we stop using synthetic and animal leather and shift towards a biodegradable material it will be good. But have to clean also what have we done
That's great ! But what do you mean but "it lasts up to 10 years" ? Means it's not really like animal leather then, which is something you need to work on more ! Good luck guys
How do they save life. Animals are killed for meat, the left over skins are turned into leather. No meat = no leather Breed animals for meat and you get leather
Leather is a natural by-product of the meat industry. Leather good manufacturers are the reason the hides of various animals are not piled into huge waste which would be burned and effect the environment. We create beautiful products with hides - which makes the leather products sustainable. In the process we help in circular fashion. On the other hand "Vegan Leather" is actually plastic which will never be as sustainable as Genuine Leather. Using PU and calling it Vegan Leather just effects the image of Genuine Leather Products. There is no such thing as "Vegan Leather".
It can actually can last much longer than 10 years if we’ll taken care of. The 10 year lifespan comes from an specialized laboratory test which subject the material to extreme temperatures, humidity and UV light (harsh environment) to see the material behavior
Awesome 👏,,, these two great visionaries turned out to be a godly man for those innocent animals,, I hope these plant based leathers only to be used in every industry worldwide...... n should be discarded animal leathers so that there will be a zero demands & no buyers for those n then at last only prevails pure natural veggie leather........ 🙂🙂

The cattle industry could be fine the leather processing industry may be affected but adapting to cacti is not out of the possibility.
Already happens, the leather industry kills different cows than the food one does.
Do they use the leather to make gloves they use to handle the cactus? 🤔
