I find half the time it's literally just undiagnosed women being shat on because they're socially awkward. I get that I fit people's idea of it. @@maedusaI don't generally laugh at these videos cause I was undiagnosed as a kid and was bullied really harshly by other girls for apparently being a 'pick me'. I find half the time it's literally just undiagnosed women being shat on because they're socially awkward. I get that I fit people's idea of it. I genuinely have six brothers, I was the only girl in my school to do a sport that a bunch of the guys also did and also played the same video games. But I literally was never a pick me. I had a long term relationship with my now husband and genuinely just clicked better with my guy friends because the social complexities are harder to navigate with other females in high school. I have a tonne of very close female friends now and it's super chill but the reality is a lot of groups in high school are genuinely just bullies. That doesn't automatically make girls who don't fit the norm a 'pick me'. Man I get so triggered lol. It's honestly just bullying 90% of the time.

I think the understanding that may be missing is the idea that “pick me’s” feel the need to put others down for not also being “different.” To be perfectly honest, I even hate the word different in this context. There’s mainstream sure, but most people don’t fit “the norm.” In fact most pick me’s I’ve met are relatively popular or at least well known. It’s those who say they’re “not like the others” as if to place themselves on a pedestal. I’m athletic and prefer “men’s” sports, neurodivergent, and consider myself androgynous/gender fluid. My issue arises from the bad behaviors of older and adult pick me’s.
