This was so far ahead of its time for electronic music, which took 15 years or so to catch up with what has been created with this remix. Eno and Moore-pioneers.
If Prince took any input from a decent producer we'd be throwing up on the bingeing on the sheer number of hits. He sometimes needed to be reigned in. But who am I to say this about an Artist that is probably the best single producer in music history.

I tend to agree with you, though.
Somehow sounds like sacrilege nonetheless. Mathematically you're right but I wouldn't trade a reigned in prince in place the level of autonomy ( freedom) and all of those completely unexpected moments of complete and total musical domination

He looked to musicians. And created things with the sounds that inspired him. Kind of the same thing. He produced with his band
He didn't need another producer, it was a conscious decision. Which is why he made Around The World In A Day after Purple Rain . Just to be a musician on his own terms

- from "Vicki Waiting" on the same album. Prince was a very underrated lyricist, often far more sophisticated than he got credit for (the first line in that verse is Bruce quoting something the mayor or one of his spokesmen said on the news, for the sure) :)

Yes, an absolutely EPIC remix by Moore and Orbit! The panning sequencer passages feel like riding through long highway tunnels at night in Gotham Megacity - listened to on a good stereo player this is such a magnificent, sharp showpiece. Also remarkably prescient, insightful lyrics by Prince. - they are much darker than the actual movie. No surprise that the movie only used small portions of his soundtrack.

@@StefanHoyer Yes - though it was really the one from which the album/ 7" single version was edited down. McLaren became so justifiably impressed with what Moore and Orbit had done that he scrapped his own earlier edit of the track!
The "Waltz Darling" album really deserves a deluxe new release - which should include both the extended remixes and the original (unreleased) edit of Deep in Vogue. According to Mark Moore, it had almost no spoken samples, neither of McLaren, nor from the Paris is Burning film - and probably not the languid sax solo either - it must have been a rather more straightforward r'n'b/house track.
@@louise_rose A deluxe edition is overdue, with all the unreleased and released remixes. Including, of course, the Walk the Body mix of "Something's Jumpin' in Your Shirt". It's time for Epic and SME to tackle this, if possible via Cherry Pop, as they recently did with Cock Robin (Precious Dreams - The Complete CBS Recordings 1985-1990), for example.

@@crampons2431 Not sure if we are talking about the same thing, but at any rate what a stupid thing to say. They're both Prince songs in consecutive albums, remixed within a year or two a part. I think they could sound more disparate. I am speaking of the maxi single with Arabian sounds and finger symbols. Not the Willie Nelson mix. Temple house Dub.

@@nateheres Wow, i never knew that this song was a single. I thought it was Batdance, Party man and Scandalous, and that was it. To me that album is really special because it was the very first cassette i bought when i was a kid, and that whole era was so amazing, the movie and the album were just perfect.
