I got lucky and did manage to convince them of what had happened and got my money back BUT it has totally destroyed the total trust that I had in Amazon which I feel very saddened by plus I'm elderly and rely on Amazon a lot. My son had a similar problem with getting a refund with Amazon. They kept ignore my son and we made a fraud complaint with my son's bank and Visa. We advised Amazon and told them we made a formal complaint and fraud investigation against Amazon (through his bank and Visa), three days later Amazon responded and refunded his money.

Hey Glenn, I know you've made this comment about 6 months ago, but I'm pretty much going through a similar situation in the UK right now! Did you end up getting a refund?
This just happened to me. I ordered a 15 dollar bike phone holder, and when i opened the unsealed package , a totally different brand phone holder that was old, used, and broken was in the package. Probably from a customer pulling a scam. I believe in my heart the seller knew exactly what they sent me trying to pass their loss onto the next customer. Very dirty.
And that's why I have always recommended to record the moment when you unbox the received product, showing in the video the tracking number of the package (before opening it) and making at least a surface survey of the product to see if it's the one you purchased and whether it seems to have been hit or it's broken. This has saved me many issues both when buying and selling.
It’s ridiculous we have to do this, but I’ve decided to start videotaping every time I open anything expensive from Amazon just so they can’t try to claim something like this. I’ll have video evidence that it was in the condition I said it was in when I opened it.
When it comes to computer parts and peripherals, it's better to go to local shops or online stores which only sell computer parts. You get the best deal that way.
Unless you open the item in front of the clerk at the time of purchase, you run this same risk in a brick-and-mortar store. When dealing with items that people regularly try to steal, the retailers get more defensive.
I am heartbroken 😢.I bought a wedding gown on Amazon seller Tsbridal.I requested for an Ivory colour which the seller told me it’s in stock. When I received the parcel the gown was shocked to see the gown was white, not the same as what I ordered. The back was completely closed No adjusting ropes,no side zip,the opening shoulder has no hooks. The quality of the material is very poor.Details are damaged it’s total disaster. The worst gown I have ever seen.I contacted seller and was told to sell it if I am not happy with it.😢I then contacted Amazon A-to z and my claim was dismissed without even looking into it.I again requested for a prepaid paid return label but still they refused. They told me to ship back using my own money and said they deduct stock fee and also the shipping fee which means I was paying more on top of what I have lost.I have never heard of that and I am extremely disappointed with Amazon.I have lost everything it’s like giving them my hard earned money for nothing.Tsbridal you are a scam and keep doing that but one is one day.😭😭😭😭
I’m in the process of making a police report, and getting the news media involved, the did the same thing to me and refused to give me my refund back, for a Samsung a53 which I paid $365 in total for and got the wrong product
I’m confused, what does Amazon Customer service exist if they don’t want to help customer complaints? I’m genuinely confused 😂 you shipped him the wrong product and are refusing to replace it for him? Is’nt that what a scammer does
The problem is that Amazon isn't selling this item directly, they are fulfilling an order you placed with a third-party seller, who turned out to be a scammer. I'm sure Amazon also get issues with dishonest buyers who claim they didn't get the item they ordered when they did, so when there is a dispute like this, Amazon customer service isn't sure which side is the scammer. Really though, they should assume buyer is honest, and just eat the cost of refund, or else people won't feel safe buying stuff on their website
@@sacvideo1998 But then comes the next issue, if people knew they'd just "eat the cost or refund" then it'd open open even more opportunities for misuse/abuse.

When it comes to PC build parts sometimes its not safe to order it online because you might get a generic part that you didn't order, I'm glad they got it sorted out with Amazon
I purchased a very expensive TV that arrived broke and I got it on a very good black Friday deal, they say they cannot replace it or match the price for a new one, and with packages arriving more broken lately and horrible customer service I've made the choice today to cancel Amazon all together
This happens ALL the time. Especially with Amazon. End of the day, if you buy pc parts online do it with a CC that has good protections and do a charge back if the wrong item shows up.
always go directly to your bank if the business wont refund your money . the bank will force the refund might take sometime since they will investigate
You obviously have not been the victims of this little scam - it is actually totally impossible for the scammed party to prove what has happened unless one is lucky enough to get the police involved and they can take 'fingerprints' etc etc etc
@@VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM I need to see if that will work with Affirm because I paid with my items through affirm and amazon isn't giving me the refund I was entitled to and affirm told me I am still responsible for paying them even though I returned the item. I'm going to my bank tomorrow and talk with them.
Amazon gets reports about parts that are not correct. They ignore this information and ship bad products anyway. There should be a new law to make amazon pick up wrong items at your home.
Download an app that has time stamp on it. Open the package with a video with time stamp. If Amazon refuses to refund, make a claim to your credit card, bank, or PayPal. With a video with time stamp on, you have proof admissible in a court of law.
I bought a "brand new" USB audio interface from Amazon...it was an old/discontinued product, but nevertheless it was the one I needed. Amazon shipped a HEAVILY used second-hand product to me. For context, it was about $300 - not a $20 device. Beaten-up box, missing accessories, bits of Velcro tape stuck to the underside of the unit. Literally like something you'd find in a thrift store. Thankfully there were no arguments when it came to the return/refund, but I still can't get my head around how it could have happened. The box alone was enough for ANYONE to see it was a used item. Had they refused the return, I would have EXPLODED in rage!
I just had the same thing happen with a $1200 item. The package amazon sent was too small of a box to even fit the correct item in. They are now saying I sent back the wrong item and will not issue my refund. I told them I filed a complaint with the attorney general and now they say they won't comment any further on my claim. What a hassle!
Similar issue I had when buying a TV from Amazon. It arrived damaged and when we confronted Amazon, they put the blame on us. Beware buying expensive electronics on Amazon or any other retailer. Its better to get it locally by inspecting the product first hand.
My son bought a monitor on sale and it worked for a couple of weeks then stooped working. He returned it and was stunned when we received an email saying the serial number didn’t match what was expected. This is false or a systems error; notwithstanding, he is a very honest kid. They said the decision is final and they are destroying the return and wouldn’t accept any explanation. This means he (me, hid Dad) is out $450. This is the worst policy I have heard of. I don’t know how they recorded an original serial number, but they are in the wrong. Feel like we were held up and robbed of our hard earned money. The result is the same.😢
Solution: ask bank to refund. It was very easy to show my bank I got defective disks because I spent similar amount in Canada computer 2 days later. Instant refund and Amazon rep was fuming!
This is why I will not and have not ever bought anything from Amazon. They are known for doing this. Sorry this happened to you. I am happy for you getting your money back at least.
I got rid of prime when they stopped shipping out 2 day delivery for me during the shut downs. They never brought it back and it always takes 7-10 days, same as non prime. So I canceled prime. But I try more and more to not use Amazon at all anymore. I've found other businesses have better shipping times, better customers service, and cheaper prices anymore. Just look around, buy from their websites, or ebay. I if you find a products you like on Amazon, go do a search on ebay or just a web search, it only takes a little bit to find that product for cheaper or from another company.
Shopping local isn't any better. You'll be dealing with miserable customer service reps and sleazy store managers, which is why everyone began buying online in the first place!
People, buying on Amazon is no more risky than buying from anywhere else. You simply have to be informed. DO NOT buy an item from Amazon if the seller AND shipper are both Amazon. You won’t have problems. STAY AWAY from 3rd party sellers….it is that simple.
I faced the similar horrible issue yesterday, I ordered Iphone 15 Pro Max and I got batteries and fairy liquid instead, I am in touch with their customer service but can't trust if they will refund my money back. I am looking for the options if they don't refund what could be my options in UK. I have all the proofs and recordings.
Same thing with me I ordered a iPhone 12 Pro Max and I got sent a iPhone 7 which is to what I believe and I contacted their customer service but I’m also scared they won’t give me my money back
Same thing happened to me, I sent back a 988 dollar motherboard and they made me wait 60 days to just tell me the item is missing and I won't be getting a refund, I have all the proof I sent the item and shoeing they received it, im getting a lawyer!
60 days is interesting. Depending on the issue/dispute, credit card chargeback process may need to be raised within 60 days. So start the chargeback process ASAP if having problems with purchase refund.
@@blue-xb1cq unfortunately i cant chargeback, i used a debit card for the purchase and it was back in Oct last year, so im stuck still trying to talk to them and possibly sueing, im looking for the cheapest way to sue, ive been told to just use small claims court.

Yeah I wouldn't doubt it's employees scamming the customers. We ordered a small item only to find the box empty and the box tampered with. I'll know not to buy any expensive stuff from Amazon now.
Was suppose to get my graphics card today but got a box of face masks instead. That person or people should be fired immediately. Although it's true that they are a 3'd party sellers, they also need to realize people get things shipped to the client months in advance, it gets stored in a freighter then they have a problem. In some places of the world, they don't get to shop local, they shop online and buy products for themselves for a whole year of food or goods. if not for a whole year, at least six months.
Amazon just stole $300 from me. Shipped me headphones and I returned them to find out that they are refusing to give me my refund claiming I didn't send back the same item. Boycott these scum.
Um Amazon has hundreds of Thousands of their party sellers. But for Amazon to do this to customer is totally unacceptable! How do you throw away a return before a refund?! Absolutely NO excuse for that nonsense.
Keep an eye open for late shipping from Amazon. You may be eligible for a full refund and still get your product. It will give you the refund notification under tracking then you'll have to chat with a customer service rep and refund will be provided.
Actually they can screw you over on that as well. Instead of dealing with the fact that the shipment was going to arrive late they had the gall to cancel it while it was still in transit even though I had not asked them to do it. Just a bunch of low lifes IMO.
My studio will no longer be ordering any supplies or equipment from Amazon due to their repeated practice of sending USED / DAMAGED products to fulfill orders for NEW products.
People have to stop putting up with this. If you have to, refuse to pay the credit card. File fraud charges. If visa/mastercard won't budge, just don't pay. I don't care about the credit score.
On a different side...I had 2 orders cancelled due to damage during shipping and was told I would get the 50 dollar refund. I watched my Credit and after weeks I didn't get anything back.. I had to contact Amazon telling them I want my refund. Only then did they give me the refund and I demanded a gift card or something for their incompetence. He gave me 5 dollars credit. My point is, don't expect a refund until you do something about it. Also, if you are denied a refund when you deserve one, fight them via Paypal, or your Credit card. You'll usually win.
I Had the same issue, and if I had not followed up, I would never have received credit for the item damaged in shipping and returned to shipper. The other thing to watch for is the prices are many times higher on Amazon than you can find elsewhere.
Oh please. They sell food products just because they're sealed, that they retrieve from dumpsters with at least half of their food orders, so why are we even pretending to be surprised that they'd do this? Be glad it wasn't a food item and shop at a reputable place to buy parts. You pay for what you get, and you tried to save less than $20 by shopping Amazon vs sites like Newegg or an actual parts shop (or local, as was the followup) and this is the result. You're also lucky you didn't get a faulty part that screwed up the whole system 😬
Well.. I didn't think.this was possible. Amazon shipped a " love doll" to someone by mistake. Pretty sure the dad is angry that his child just opened a box with an adult toy in it.
There is alot of theft in the amazon warehouse where whenever you buy something expsensive they send you something that cost a few dollars and then tell you they cannot refund you or replace the item because it was sent through a freight forwarder. With all their cameras and technology it would be easy for them to tell who packed the package and review what happened on the camera but they prefer to give the customer a hard time. The customer now looses on a product they wanted plus the money they paid and now has to pay the return of an item where their staff who choose to be crooks and suprisingly still have their job and never get caught. Amazon will never take full reponsibilty and even if they know its their fault they will not admit it and now tell the customer to return the item for a refund as if they are just being nice and doing you a favor giving you the impression they had noting to do with it. Its not one person but a whole bunch of people working together in different departments to steal packages and not to mention they having intimate relationships with each other at amazon especially during breaks and after work before they go h0me to their spouse....
Amazon should Honor any purchases unless you want them to stop buying from Amazon. I have a Walmart 3miles down the road and they would love for me to buy more from them.
I purchased a gallon sized can of stain to finish some furniture. When it arrived it was a pint and it was open and re-sealed! It was 70 dollars which is about 15-20 overpriced. Yes I purchased it, because things get so busy around the shop that I usually will try to order things instead of going to the store. Anyways I tried to return it once I saw it was not what I ordered and was told it was "a one of a kind item" and thus cannot be returned. Of course it's total B.S. I've heard stories where some people ordered a "commemorative" item and just got a picture of the item due to the word commemorative. Amazon is become a hotbed for scams.
I bought a s22 ultra, and received a s22 ultra box with note 9 inside it. Now they are emailing me saying if I don't return the s22 ultra I never got, they are going to charge me 1200 for the phone I never received. And mind you this is after I contacted Amazon multiple times and wasted countless hours sending them pictures of the contents of the package and was told to return it and that I would be refunded, only to receive a email stating they threw away the note 9 and if I don't return the s22 ultra I'm going to be charged. It is mind boggling. I've spent thousands every year on amazon to be treated like complete garbage.
I have the same problem now, in India . I ordered a xiaomi notebook but got a HP one. After I raised a complaint, they investigated, and agreed to refund. They too 15 days for pickup, but then did not refund. When asked , they raised another investigation and they say they got the wrong product, so they cannot refund and their decision is final. What can I do?
Amazon return policy use to be rock solid.. but too many people took advantage of it.. i knew a guy that got the asus rtx 2080 ti and put his old asus gtx 1080 ti in the new box and returned it for a full refund.. the same with new phones and game disc where they would return an empty case.. and another friend that buys dresses to go clubing in and after that return it for a full refund.. i live in malaysia and use buy things from amazon all the time.. but i dont always get what i paid for and the returns use to be easy.. now i have to pay for the return shipping that will cost around $150 -170.. and amazon will only refund me $20 for shipping.. amazon is just trying to protect themselfs..
This is why I buy expensive parts from memory Express. Amazon is for things like fans and RGB additional. I dont trust Amazon and NewEgg when it comes to PC parts.

A video from this case would have gained a lot of attention on youtube.
I cancelled my Amazon Prime subscription. They need to step up their quality control.
If you want to do a class action suit I’m in!
@@sacvideo1998 yeah ebay has protection on third party sales wtf amazon cant believe I am rooting for ebay
There are robots themselves. Do not ever buy from Amazon again
@@sacvideo1998 But then comes the next issue, if people knew they'd just "eat the cost or refund" then it'd open open even more opportunities for misuse/abuse.
@@sharvin0161 I'm dealing with not getting a refund on an item I didn't receive. 58.00 plus some shirts. I returned an item that was dead on arrival. Returned it, waiting for a refund. They told me I am not going to get a refund. Amazon is letting scammers scam too many people.
When it comes to PC build parts sometimes its not safe to order it online because you might get a generic part that you didn't order, I'm glad they got it sorted out with Amazon
This is happening to me right now. This is ridiculous. Wow
Right….. the bank will help lol
@@BlackfaceTrudoh They'll do a charge back on your card, it's really quite easy. I've had to do it before.
@@VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM I need to see if that will work with Affirm because I paid with my items through affirm and amazon isn't giving me the refund I was entitled to and affirm told me I am still responsible for paying them even though I returned the item. I'm going to my bank tomorrow and talk with them.
my credit card was compromised by a seller on Amazon years ago, and I never bought anything on Amazon since. Too many scams.
Nobody is mentioning the worst crime of all….$700 for a 3060ti….ludicrous.
AMAZON has made complaining
about products or sellers so difficult it is almost impossible. AMAZON LIKE TWITTER IS ON ITS WAY OUT
Unfortunately Amazon won’t be on its way out. Twitter on the other hand has improved it’s image by being transparent.
The process is mechanized. Follow the return process and if that doesn't help, initiate a chargeback.
I am so glad I saw this video! It's a year late, but non the less I will be rethinking future purchases!
Never buy tech from Amazon or EBay ...... NEVER DO THIS.
Amazon gets reports about parts that are not correct. They ignore this information and ship bad products anyway. There should be a new law to make amazon pick up wrong items at your home.
*File a chargeback.*
Then Amazon will have to deal with it.
Download an app that has time stamp on it. Open the package with a video with time stamp. If Amazon refuses to refund, make a claim to your credit card, bank, or PayPal. With a video with time stamp on, you have proof admissible in a court of law.
How is it admissible when someone can use a video editor to insert a timestamp after the fact?
@@rt-rd5of I didn't know that could be done. Good point.
"confront Amazon"? Why? Just return it within 30 days under defective/not performing reason.
Just had this with a £580 camera lens bundle. We got a few rolls of tape instead. Disgusting
The result is the same.😢
I am facing the same issue but with 2 hard drive worth total of 1000$ cad. Would love to get some intervention as well.
Solution: ask bank to refund. It was very easy to show my bank I got defective disks because I spent similar amount in Canada computer 2 days later. Instant refund and Amazon rep was fuming!
Anything over a hundred I go to an actual store or buy directly from the company. You CAN'T trust amazon.
This is why I stopped purchasing anything from Amazon. Spend the little extra money and money directly from a reputable company or shop local.
Shopping local isn't any better. You'll be dealing with miserable customer service reps and sleazy store managers, which is why everyone began buying online in the first place!
Really Amazon?
You can afford to replace this.
Extremely bad move.
People always tell me how easy it is to get a refund on Amazon but I’ve never gotten one
People, buying on Amazon is no more risky than buying from anywhere else. You simply have to be informed. DO NOT buy an item from Amazon if the seller AND shipper are both Amazon. You won’t have problems. STAY AWAY from 3rd party sellers….it is that simple.
I have been taken advantage of and they won't do anything at all.
I experienced something very similar with eBay, who stood squarely with the scammer. Brick and mortar stores are still best.
Ordered a book and recieved rugs. Good thing they gave me a refund.
Amazon has really gone down the toilet. I received 2 packages in the same day and am missing an item from each. They refuse to do anything about it.
I always record video while opening the package.
But i doubt it'll be of any use in case of a scam. Amazon doesn't listen
So don't buy GPUs or other computer hardware from Amazon and Newegg, got it.
I'm surprised that he actually talked to an Amazon person.
@@nicholasvetitoe2538 best option is small claims ( cost you ~$250). Someone in Canada was sucessfully against VW ( rust warranty ). Remember that Amazon/seller can't prove what was shipped to you. They will keep on accusing you is their only defense. I think Amazon will refund your money once you got small claims going without going through the court preceedings.
I am going through this right now.
Prob is this is pretty rare usually people are returning the wrong items trying to scam
Yeah I wouldn't doubt it's employees scamming the customers. We ordered a small item only to find the box empty and the box tampered with. I'll know not to buy any expensive stuff from Amazon now.
Anyone along the delivery chain can do that ( Canada Post, Fedex, UPS etc ).
@blue ofc but never experienced that besides Amazon.
WOW, Ive got multiple emails EXACTLY like this. Just happened to me. I filed a chargeback. Amazon closed my account and deactivated my devices.
Was suppose to get my graphics card today but got a box of face masks instead. That person or people should be fired immediately. These persons or person retriving these items and boxing them need to have an investigation done on them at that warehouse no questions asked. For my hard earned money I will not sit down and be disrespected just like that.
did you get a refund?
@@polyfission2776 did return it which was challenging after 3 months "We've processed a refund for the above order in the amount of $459.99. The refund should appear on your account in 2-3 days if issued to a credit card.
Refunds issued to a bank account typically take 7-10 days to reflect on the account balance."
So yes I did get the refund
@@greyshadow7786 Same happened to me. I ordered a 1600$ camera, and received a 2cents hairpin instead. I managed to get a refund as well. This is the first time I see scammers on Amazon
I almost decided to record me opening my GPU. I don't trust them anymore after seeing more and more of these cases.
In Quebec you go to small court for les $15 000 dispute....cost 85$........you bring Amazon....if the don't show up.....decision is FINAL
They have horrible customer service
Amazon just stole $300 from me. Shipped me headphones and I returned them to find out that they are refusing to give me my refund claiming I didn't send back the same item. Boycott these scum.
Um Amazon has hundreds of Thousands of their party sellers. But for Amazon to do this to customer is totally unacceptable! How do you throw away a return before a refund?! Absolutely NO excuse for that nonsense.
Yup, if you're gonna buy computer parts, go somewhere else. I choose Micro Center.
Contact your bank and do a chargeback. That’s why online shopping should only be done with credit cards.
Its sad but its an absolute must to make an unboxing video to prove it arrived that way when buying expensive items on Amazon
Happened to my friend, got a different brand than what he bought in the right box.
duh!...that why you need to read reviews before slapping down $700, most things on Amazon are from 3rd party venders.
Keep an eye open for late shipping from Amazon. You may be eligible for a full refund and still get your product. It will give you the refund notification under tracking then you'll have to chat with a customer service rep and refund will be provided.
Happened already, got a refund. Tube Casing for making sausage was scam or something
Actually they can screw you over on that as well. Instead of dealing with the fact that the shipment was going to arrive late they had the gall to cancel it while it was still in transit even though I had not asked them to do it. Just a bunch of low lifes IMO.
so far this year i got about $400 of free junk.
@@SuperRede4u is it still happening
@@SuperRede4u cancel + refund or wait. And if the cancelled item still got to you later, keep it ( Amazon wrote off the item already ).
Ive had this happen TWICE, recorded both times too. Doing a RUclips video. Amazon refunded me one but wouldnt on the one that was $1450.
I only buy products that have prime shipping, all my returns had no issues.
I'm a Prime customer and it has happened to me. Been with Amazon for years and it took a lot of badgering and phone call to get my money back.
My studio will no longer be ordering any supplies or equipment from Amazon due to their repeated practice of sending USED / DAMAGED products to fulfill orders for NEW products.
I have this same issue now, and they won’t refund me or replace. What do I do?
People have to stop putting up with this. If you have to, refuse to pay the credit card. File fraud charges. If visa/mastercard won't budge, just don't pay. I don't care about the credit score.
So he should have returned it and not said anything, otherwise you're just calling their attention to it.
Currently dealing with the same issue from aliexpress.
Yes, aliexpress. It's on me I guess.
Dealing with the same issue now ..I bought a canon r3 for almost 5k and i get a box with random items they have me jumping through hoops right now
I sure do
@NicoleBowen-pb3pi I sure do
I got scammed less than a week ago for $2200 item on amazon, got detergent powder instead! 10 years of customer and they wont refund my money
Never buy from Facebook ads either as you risk spending hundreds of dollars for a cheap pet t-shirt you didn’t buy.
Facts...never trust Facebook ads...always the wrong item let alone cheap piece of junk they'll send. It's a scam they run.
I bought an electric coffee perculator that was missing a part. I sent it back. Instead of refunding me cash, they gave me a store credit.
Can't get an Amazon return shipping label for item not as described ? Who shipped you the item?
Yup ppl did take advantage and I don't blame Amazon completely
Amazon is on the decline. I got scammed too.
This is why I buy expensive parts from memory Express. Amazon is for things like fans and RGB additional. I dont trust Amazon and NewEgg when it comes to PC parts.
Good luck if you need to get a hold of Amazon customer service.
Shopping local is an option but i would rather not pay the 45% uptake for same day. I shop online sometimes, now with that being said it's been a heavy month shopping at Canadian Tire. This upload being over a year old, now in Mar of 2024 not much has changed. We need accountability for the shipper.. Shopping local is not an option if your not willing to wait. CBC take a look at my 45% increase claim // compare. King-size bed Kingsdown from Matressmaret 5k+ now from online shipper 3500. Any way i'm starting to think local is not the option other than farmers markets.
Just got wrong headset in a right box from them. It was even missing charging usb cable. It came directly from amazon themselves. When I contacted their support they said oh well you can have your money back.
