I would have killed the fish. Not only is it the law in most states, if you really know the fish like you say you do, then you would know it would be best to kill the fish. All the Departments that govern fishing in each state have a lot of more research than any of us could ever want and there is no way they would make it law to not release a fish or to kill a fish if there was a serious problem. I understand both sides of the story but I still feel that it is better for the fish eco system to have them gone. I mean what will killing one snakehead do? Not much but you never know, that could be one of the few there and could have saved other types of fish in the water. Just my thoughts :)
If you don’t kill them you wouldn’t be punished by the law, so if there is no punishment the law is only a suggestion. By the way I’m looking to find some waterways for snakehead fishing. Where would you direct me?
Best way to break a rod is to grab it by the middle.....rods are meant to be held by the handle for maximum strength....once you grab the rod outside the handle or let it bend over an edge thats where the rod will snap.... Its called a compound bend.... Happens on boats and bridges alot
They’re an invasive species that eat everything including turtles, they don’t improve fishing environments at all, the DEC recommends removing them, but I’m glad you’re on your moral high ground saving that fish that can’t even be eaten👍🏼
@@alecbrummer7840my local lake had problems with bass being so skinny soon as snake heads came in the bass god fat af and bit sm more and the bigger bass grow sm more , plus they usually die due to the cold
LET THEM GO!! I catch them all the time here in New Jersey.Same spot and all the local areas nearby.I prefer fishing for snakeheads over bass anyday. They are WAY more fun then bass.Anyone that has caught them topwater knows 🙌🏻
Yes, let’s release the fish that destroyed fisheries so it can continue spawning! I’m so glad there’s people like you who are not listening to the DEC and releasing an invasive species back into waterways! World class fisherman! When are you joining the bassmaster series I can’t wait?
If you capture a snakehead fish: Do not release the fish or throw it up on the bank (it could wriggle back into the water). Remember, this fish is an air breather and can live a long time out of water. Kill the fish by freezing it or putting it on ice for an extended length of time. Photograph the fish if you have access to a camera so the species of snakehead fish can be positively identified. Contact your nearest fish and game agency or the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (703-358-2148) as soon as possible. Keeping data on the size, number, and location of where snakeheads are caught or seen is vital to controlling this invasive fish.
In nj its a LAW that they CANNOT be released and must be killed! This vido shows unresponsible fishing. Its our duty as fisherman to help the conservation of our waters and releasing them based on the thought that "theyre here for good anyway" is the exact reason they will stay here for good.
i want one as a pet! id have a tank with a ramp so it can leave the tank or enter at anytime to roam around the house! the snakehead is one of the 3 fish i really want. the other 2 is the blue spotted mudskipper and the climbing perch. imagine if a pizza guy comes and sees a fish on the couch waching tv? he would go straight to the bar! imagine seeing someone walking there fish at the park? people would talk to there therapist! lol
just read on google snakeheads should be destoryed and turned over to the wild life division, would still be hard for me to gill such a beautiful fish! peace
In N.Y. One that Size I would also release it , I've only caught or landed to one pretty good size and one smaller one that I did leave on the shore and kill the stick I'm a catch and release like 90 percent and if I started catching a good amount or they were the smaller ones I may leave them on Shore or I may not because I would enjoy catching, as well as other people like you said the numbers I don't think if you let a handful goal is going to be a difference with all these damn gobies and freaking carp
MikeJawn Fishing yeah with that attitude in a few years they will be the only angling opportunity bro.. but everyone has there own opinion but myself I kill them every time and will continue killing them. There destroying all the fish the game wardens constantly keep our lakes stocked up with not to mention the fish and game get 95% of there funding to stock lakes from people like us purchasing our fresh water permits and also from writing infractions for people fishing without permits ect .. so in the end if everyone felt the way you and a lot of others do on this subject just defeats the purpose of all the fish and game do so why even get a permit? I disagree, snake heads are an invasive species which are are killing all of the native fish, if I caught one I’d kill it even if I wasn’t going to eat it, let the catfish eat it.
Catching small juvenile bass under 1 lbs is not as much skill as it is the fault of the bass....they are hungry and young so they hit on anything and all kinds of retrieve.....thats why you rarely catch big bass.....SOON YOU WONT CATCH ANY BASS as the snakeheads will kill all baby bass .....youll see
well done releasing it, if you dont want one for dinner. they are in one league like bass- or pike-species as a gamefish, fill a habitat-niche other big predators dont like and there is not a single evidence that they destroyed an ecosystem or killed all gamefish. Its all mostly fear of the unknown.
