- Emergency Shut down system(ESD) is designed to minimize the consequences of emergency situation in oil and gas operations.
Emergency situations are like uncontrolled flooding, hydrocarbon leak, outbreak fire in hydrocarbon areas, or areas which may be hazardous.
In this oil and gas information video, I explain the classification of hazardous areas, selection of proper material and equipment to be used in an hazardous environment like oil and gas operation.
“Infos.by HAMSA V BAVA” is my you tube channel provides information on oil and gas training videos and oil and gas training courses.
In this channel I indented to provide oil and gas information related to process, mechanical, instrumentation and process safety and I believe these oil and gas information will help all of my viewers to gain knowledge in oil and gas operation.
In this video "Oil and Gas process Emergency Shutdown System( ESD)" discussing the importance of hazardous area classification, various zone according to this classification and process safety management measures implemented in oil and Gas Operation.
Discuss about active and passive hazardous conditions in oil and gas operation and various active and passive methods to mitigate these hazardous situation and installation of alarms, process shut down systems, safety relief valves etc for minimizing the consequences in oil and gas operation
Also discussing about various zones like Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2 based on the hazardous area classification. These all information are coming under Process safety management this is the core discussion in this video.
The concept of Process safety management in protect oil and gas facility from any abnormal operation and hazardous situation and it protects Personnel, environment and plant assets.
By watching this video, you will have a clear understanding on definition of basic instrumentation and control system, functions, application and process safety management etc.

Thank you Mr for this useful video 🤗🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you sir. This video very useful to me
You are welcome
nice and educative video. Please i have a question on event tree analysis of hydrocarbon gas leak as initiating event, if the fire detection system fails on demand will deluge system be activated or not? or the outcome will just be fire. secondly if a blowdown works is there need for deluge system again. Thanks and hope to hear from you
Sir, please make a video on fire water demand calculation and nozzle selection
Good job sir.
In the slide : EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN VALVES (between 27-28 min), Is the SDV normally open or BDV?
Thanks.
SDVs are normally in open position and close in shut down situation and BDVs are in just opposite
Informative . Please I need links for previous referenced videos .
Thanks. Will send
