I really like Virginie Despentes' books, her nonfiction in particular.
I don’t always agree with everything she has to say, neither but that’s also something I like about her. She doesn’t make it too easy for you. But then there are sentences that really punch you in the face, thoughts that make you wanna jump up and shout out: Yes! At the beginning of Dear Dickhead I thought, how boring, a novel in e-mails, but then it got me. Her writing and topics can hurt, can make you feel uncomfortable, but it’s great.

Yes! That’s such a good way of putting it! I really love that she doesn’t really care about being liked or about having a pretty or palatable book. Some of those face-punching sentences were so good!

I want to read Strangers on a Train. I also loved The Talented Mr. Ripley this year and would like to read some more Highsmith. Dear Dickhead sounds good, too!

Ooh yes! I’m surprised Clear hasn’t had more love or attention this year!
I’ve got a few, outside of Booker reading! Especially the new Ali Smith!
