I Have that marshalltown duotex as well, i definatly want to see you run a skim coat with it on the next job... I love your channel bro .. keep doing what your doing from florida!
So imagine spraying with 3 times the air volume. You can run a much bigger x tip and the pre tip behind it. Stand back and blast it. Like I said before 3 car garage in 5 minutes easy. And with the diaphragm rig you just feed it air. And 5.5 hp emglo compressor is perfect size. I’m thinking about getting an 8 hp just to try out. Maybe close to spray force at that point. And a house an hour no problem.
I just bought a graco 2500 and the smart start stopped working after only 3 hrs of use. Frustrating really. Do you guys troubleshoot it or just return it ?
Do you know if Graco gun can be used on Marshalltowns rig and vise versa? We have a spray cork material our contractors use. We use to recommend them use the Marshalltown duotex, but have since started recommending the Graco 5000px.
Thank you for vid. Was thinking of duo flex.. Have an older Graco but with much shorter hose. VERY HEAVY, But now thinking bout Marshalltowns texture rig. I notice You don't have to prime before text. Not sure where your located but In p. Northwest we always have to prime, to keep seams from flashing through . Different board or mud there? Just curious. I use Hamilton or certainted mud. Not usg. Not sure board. Thanks again, keep up the good work.
Awesome Doug the Marshalltown is similar to the older gracos a real work horse just heavy to load and unload alone. We pretty much only have usg to choose from here.
Vancouver BC here. Had same question about primer out of curiosity. No texture ever up here anymore but I'm doing a lot of texture removal/skim. Checking out the spray on method with a Columbia smoothing blade and handle. Maybe adding primer agent to final spray.
@@BushmanCanuck I am in the Pacific Northwest, Port Townsend WA ...I rarely do texture unless it's a repair and for smooth wall I roll on the first 3 coats and spray on a product called Tuff Hide...it gives the best finish for smooth wall. You will definately need a good sprayer, it is heavy material and goes on thick! The finish is beautiful though. It is better than the other products I have tried for sprayin on the finish.
@@jodester7434 Yes same, making old texture disappear and level 5 almost always part of my renovation drywall. Thanks for the product tip I'll look it up 👍
If it's a used unit the compressor might need to be repair it's happened to me once the rig wasn't producing enough pressure even though the compressor and belt seem to be running fine.
whaaat ? havent seen one house in finland that has anyting but smooth surface under paint. when in the world is this type of structured surface a common thing ? Maby should try it somewhere.
If your talking about wideex tips you have to leave the original tip first then screw the wide ex base then put the wide tex and end cap. If not the gun will leak at the base were the original tip normally goes.

Thanks man. Love the channel bro been in the trade For 5 yrs and just started my company here in Oregon, its awesome to get advice from guys who finish similar to us.
Any power variation will fry the internal sensors the smart start is a great idea but problematic to say the least . Me to extend the engine life but causes alot of down time every time it breaks.
@@csdrywallhawaii it sure did. Had to go back to home depot to replace, but anyways thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Appreciate your help and your experience. Rock on my friend. 🤙
@@csdrywallhawaii thanks. I’m a DIYer with a rental and I like doing and learning as much as possible about fixing my own houses. I’m gonna give it a go to retexture my whole house. Most of it is light orange peel. Should I skim coat all the walls first before doing knockdown or if the walls are not to bad, should I just spray over the orange peel? Any info helps.
Sweet I have used it for plaster base coat cement which is similar to thinset( really fine watered down ) . I would not use it for any type of cement with sand or aggregate since it is a gravity feed hopper the sand etc will just settle and plug the rig almost instantly. Unfortunately I know by trial and error it took for ever to try and clean out.
I think since the homes here are so expensive already when it comes to drywall they want a faster cheaper finish. So they can use the money 💰 they saved on smooth on nicer cabinets, flooring etc..
Your rig breaks down in it during a job it's a more than a hiccup we're just hoping to get 25 jobs out of the Graco 2500 nowhere near as good as the 1500 that lasted forever and was a real Workhorse
Main thing I concluded was you can't have it on anything longer than a 25ft heavy gauge cord and not to run it off generators it's alot more high maintenance in that way I guess cuz of the extra on board sensors.
Looks like Graco is still making crap texture rigs. I had a Graco texture machine years ago that failed on me, and the cost to repair it wasn't worth it. Never again with Graco.

Is it possible to use Marshalltown gun and hose on Graco RTX , f.i when we compare Duo with RTX 5500? Do they have the same thread? Thank you.
Amazing 🤩 thanks for the video

Hi. Where could I buy small parts for Duotex? I mean pressure connection inside the machine, etc.
Marshalltowns website if you can find it there call them directly and they should be able to help.

Yes they are interchangeable as long as the hose diameter size is the same.
Thanks Benji

That Marshalltown is working out pretty well for me.

Great
Would like to see some knock texture and what your choice for Mudd when doing knock down
whaaat ? havent seen one house in finland that has anyting but smooth surface under paint. when in the world is this type of structured surface a common thing ? Maby should try it somewhere.
Yes here in Hawaii most residential builds are texture since its the cheaper option.
Amps is the word you were looking for, graco probably a 20 amp rig and the other one is 15 that's why I requires less powere therefore thinner cord.
My RTX 1250 crapped out on me tell me the one I should buy most reliable thanks Benji
RTX 1400 is the solid new version and can't go wrong.
I've owned both and both messed up on me i don't want to buy a trailer rig I may try the rtx5000 since I texture once week.
I have the same machine but I having problems with the tips sises can explain how to put the tips and how to use different Sizes thank you

Marshalltown over the new gracos easily.

Yes and no it all depends how loose the mud is and what texture you spraying.
