This was fantastic Mark! I just got a Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig 2 that has an Envelope Filter, Octaver, Fuzz and Chorus and I have been learning how to use them. And you gave some great advice about being conscious of your technique to get the most out of them. I didn't realize until you said it, that your picking attack affects the effect. That makes total sense now and will definitely help me get the most out of the Bass Fly Rig 2. Very Very helpful. Thanks!!!
if you havent already, the bass synth he showed off in the video can actually do evelope filter and octave effects as well as the synth. I really recommend it: it's called the Digitech Bass Synth Wah.
haha i got it and alot of others but im finding that when i use my pedals i cant cut through the rest of the band as well as when im using my clean tone, guessing its taking away from my low end
Bro, you play some of the coolest riffs in your demonstrations. I wish I could get the tabs for what you are playing in this video (all the riffs). I am a beginner/intermediate player so I cannot always tell by trying follow your fret hand what notes you are playing. Are there any tabs to what you are playing in this video?
I watched again, more carefully. I think the octaver is along the lines I was thinking. One time, I heard someone in a different video refer to an obscure pedal effect they called "echo".
I missed out on an ebay bid for a Digitech Bass Synth-Wah, it sold for £45 Been kicking myself ever since, I love that pedal but £120 is the average price for them now
The thing with tone is its unique to the player. Sure you can get something similar with effects, amps, guitars, pickups etc. but it's primarily down to how the individual plays. Like I could be playing with my gear and get a particular sound, then someone else will play the same thing with the same gear and have a slightly different tone.
I know there is no set rules, but where would you usually place a synth pedal in your chain? I'm mostly stuck on putting it before or after my distortions/ fuzz's
I go blind every time I watch one of your vids which I love by the way, but watch with the white background? Why not play in a room full of furniture and stuff? It would help my vision please.
Set my settings on my DigiTech Bass Synth Wah to exact same settings you have but it sounds nothing like yours! Do all pedals sound different even if they are the same make and model of pedal?
Every bassist I know has a cooler accent than mine. And better clothes. And a better bass.
and a better makeup
Most relatable comment on RUclips

Learn your scales and how to use passing tones. It’s all in there.
Awesome explanation!
Yes indeed!
Lots of sound advice here. Thank you!
Thanks for the overview Mark, really well explained as always...
this is the best bass pedal review video
Great lesson, great teacher. Thank s.
Wha wha on bass always sounds funky 👍
I've heard of an effect which basically creates the illusion of playing two bass guitars at the same time. Was hoping for a demo of that.
Eric Thomas octaver was shown. Or, you may be thinking of chorus.
I watched again, more carefully. I think the octaver is along the lines I was thinking. One time, I heard someone in a different video refer to an obscure pedal effect they called "echo".
Eric Thomas you might check out a harmonizer pedal too, I know boss makes one
+Eric Thomas
Chorus pedals do exactly what you're talking about, but combining it with an octave and balancing the delay can make it hit even harder.
Well thought out. Good information. Well prepared. Thanks.
You’re showing off that marcus miller fender jazz bass😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️

Why on earth do people like that one?
requesting and probably question too.
Tips and helpful ways to find to "perfect" tone for a given song?! Maybe.

It sounds good
I really enjoy this distinct british accent!
Please review the Zoom B1 Four. It has so many sounds!

Hi, What is your opinion on having a padelboad with EQ, Chorus, Delay Vs ME-50B similar pedal board? Are those equivalent in sound quality? Thank you
how's auto wah pedal any good when used to play slaps?
Not really
Look up Amanitas, by Les Claypool for what that sounds like. I think it sounds great.
I go blind every time I watch one of your vids which I love by the way, but watch with the white background?
Why not play in a room full of furniture and stuff?
It would help my vision please.
Blue?
what pedals do you use? I am a beginning bass player and occasionally use a Korg Pandora Stomp, but am looking for ideas for other pedals to use...
Les Moore how's bass going?
Les how's the bass playing?
with the wah pedal i would just play rage against the machine
but maybe a fuzz or overdrive too, to get heavy, that way u can have a even more diverse sound for originals and jams
Set my settings on my DigiTech Bass Synth Wah to exact same settings you have but it sounds nothing like yours! Do all pedals sound different even if they are the same make and model of pedal?
It depends of the output of your bass
Get a morley power fuzz wah if you're gonna get a wah wah pedal
Hell yea I was looking into getting one of those
@@masonmortimeyer2901 I got the cliff burton tribute one, its absolutly killer, and can be used for shows, cross my heart 🤘
That's actually the one I was looking into so that is good to hear
Right on bro best of luck
Thanks man same to you
What bass do you have
