I love this guy. He actually showed himself failing a welding test. Because of a bad xray. I've found him to be an awesome instructor. With a calm voice. It's a rare thing to see in anyone teaching any class I ever went to.
I'm myself a beginner, but I definitely like Your virtuosity and style points in the craft. This Yngvie MalmSTEEL welding style. Plus those metal cooling coffee break timings. It's just so smooth and refreshing to both watch and even say, contemplate... Just like surgeons playing music during procedures. Things are definitely very well refined here. Like a good coffee ❤❤❤
Much love from Europe! I weld mostly with TIG,but there is some odd satisfaction that comes with stick welding. And with TIG I can pretty much do everything, but I really want to learn how to stick weld pipes like this. Awesome videos, very informative!
What pressures and tip are you running on that torch? I always have trouble with mine, I can't ever seem to get the pressures right. Super clean work Austin 👌 I learn a lot from your videos that make me a better welder!
Hey Ross sick video man, I have a for you or anyone out here, I'm looking to purchase a red-face sa200 but the guy put 4 quick disconnects and bypass the amp selector do you guys know why it would be done like that ,,thanks keep vids coming please
No serious welders have to really understand how to operate the machines with the right parameters for each type of wire they will be using , whether it's fluxcor, dual Sheilded wire, er70s wire. Stainless steel or aluminum wire. Travel speed , globular transfer, spray arc, or short circuit welding and what the processes are used for.
You know if a guy's is just starting out learning to weld pipe and can't afford an oxy-acetylene kit, then they can always purchase some metal cutting whole saws to start out with until the earn the income to buy an oxy-acet kit.
Man that's some excellent advice. For straight cuts an angle grinder and cutting disks. They also make metal cutting blades for skill saws and mitre saws.😊 God bless y'all, work safe.
I’d look into a cheap plasma cutter like arc captain or yes welder those can help with torch cutting and be cost effective replacement to oxy acetylene
Why do you always bend your rod after putting it into the stinger? I've watched you do this and tried it myself but I find the rod rotates in the stinger very easily when I do this. If I want to drag flux off the tip of a 7018 on the pavement before a restart, the rod rotates around on me. What am I missing on this? I could see it in the screw type stinger but not a clamp type.

I got a scrap yard and find huge olets all the time along with pipe of all sizes for scrap price I'm very fortunate
Hope to see you back on the pipeline welding soon

I bought a pile of very cheap tube remnants about four inches long and welded them together for practice.
Austin can you do a Arkansas bellhole weld?
Costs do add up quickly . I love the shifter prop , great idea.
Been waiting all day for a video!!!
i find myself struggling to cap my pipe with 7018 what do you do and maybe could you make a video on it. i just cant seem to figure it out

All processes have their place. Keep watching RUclips videos to continue learning about welding.

Any idea why it's called Hippie rod??
Hey Austin, great work as always. Just curious, why is 7010 called hippie rod?
Hippie rod was from the rod marking one time it was 7010G HYP . hyp =hippie
The HYP stands for "high yield pipe".
What rod manipulation are you doing to get those beads ?
More or less tiny ovals with a touch of finesse
Sir, we can make this gloves for you?

It’s good to start with the torch kit from harbor freight. Metal saws are gonna be about the same price.

Your spring in your stinger may be slightly loser than mine.
Why do they use 7010 for 3rd and 4th pass instead of 7018?
LOVE it
👍
Why do you smoke the threads on an actual o-let??
Usually just smoke thread olets to keep welding splatter from sticking to the threads
@@arosswelding ohhh okay, thank you very much sir!
Quarter inch o’lets are the most annoying in my opinion!
You're already pink 😂
