Striped bass are hungry this time of year and willing bite. But some years I find myself working the water differently. Always makes the fishing interesting. Of course we always have and work the staples that produce. Anyhow enough jargon and here is the list:
5. BUCKTAIL 360 TEASER - Always produces the most and largest striped bass year, after year, after year...
4. PENCIL POPPER - Fun lure to work on slow bites & great for fast bites!
3. DARTER - Had some good days with the darter, the MAG DARTER is my #1 searching lure
2. DAIWA SP MINNOW - Always my favorite minnow to work on the salt.
1. BILLY BUCKTAIL - 1oz Poured jetty cater jig head with a 5" paddle tail, love how they swim & caught 100's of fish!

Billy Bucktail #1 I agree Jerry !
Only second best to a one eyed Billy Bucktail! Thanks Fabian!
Hi Jerry, Very useful information. That helps narrow the lure choices and get us on fish. Thank you for the info. Have fun and good luck, Mickey
Thanks Mickey! Changes year to year but about all one needs
Thank you for your video! Very informative
You are welcome!
Very good Jerry. I think we all our 5 favorites...and I think a few lures overlap in most of our collections: i.e. bucktail jigs and pencil poppers. "Don't leave home without 'em!" Right?! Tightest...
Frank
Thanks frank! everytime I leave home without something thats what they want! arggghhh!!!! So lesson dont leave home without one!
@@FishYourWay amen!
@@frankzima7998 HalahalaLouYAAA!!!
Have you tried an egg and fly set up? This is a popular choice in Rhode Island. It's a wood egg with wire drilled through it. The wire is bent to form a circle on both sides. Spin line is tied into one end and 5 feet of leader is tied into the other side of the egg. A fly is tied to the leader.
I have been not long time, will have to make day of it sometime. Most the reason why I dont is the time to switch rig over. sometimes I am out for a few hours so time is pressed. I will keep in mind! Thanks Theodore!
Thanks for this information my friend
My pleasure!
I must be seeing things I use the same lures....Well done Fish on
Haha! They work! Tested 2x! Thanks for verifying Chris!!!!
Thanks Jerry, if you say so am in 😂👍
Thank you john!

Nice video. What is your rod, reel, and line set up?
Thanks Martin, thats a ambassadeur 6501c3 a lamiglasg1000 blank 8.5' rate 3/4-2 1/2 with 40lb braid - 30lb leader
nice video. What length paddle tail do you generally throw or use as a trailer on your bucktails?
Thanks BlastinBass, I been using the 5" ones both plain and the trailer they work great
@@FishYourWay Thanks
@@BlastinBassFishing Much welcome!
Those plastic paddle tails are great lures especially the ones that look like needlefish.i stopped using bucktails because of them.
I can see that! they are great had to squeeze it in may be next years #1! Been using em the past week they are great!
I think I have at least 3 of these. I've been hitting the sweetwater and getting some lake trout lately though. I bet they'd hit a bucktail but I haven't tried, next year maybe.
Thanks Fenric I am sure they will work. Be looking forward to some freshwater soon have some water I been looking at for decades in mind always like to explore! Have to love fishing! thanks for sharing!
I had fish hit the bucktail. Sadly didn't land them as I worked the bucktail 6 to 8 seconds with subtle pops then as I let it fall the fish hit the bucktail. I didn't land it simply because people talked to me as bucktail was falling in water column that's why I missed the fish 😢🙄🙄🙄
Nice list . No needlefish ?
Thanks Timmy! Not this year but YES I am sure if I used em more theyd be on always in my bag in the fall!
Mine are 1. Sp minnow, 2. Bucktail, 3. Hopkins. My sp minnow has that same bluefish teeth marks 🤣🤣🤣
It was close! those hopkins are great! Thanks for sharing Chris!
You know its a Billy bucktail when it has only 1 eye left lol. All my jigheads and bucktails are half blind at this point too.
Billy!!!! Nothing beats a 1 eyed billy bucktail! Had a blast with em this season THANK YOU! Those paddle tails are great all the own, been railing fish on em this week love the jigheads! Can't wait to fish em in spring! You changed my routine! Thanks Billy!
@@FishYourWay you should try that resin redfin I made u too. Got some really nice fish on mine. It swims like a sp not a true redfin though.
I noticed, casts better then plain redfin to. Been tossing it here and there hoping on that honey day!!!! Thanks Billy!
i'm surprised the swim shad isn't on the list.
It could have been I am sure I just never used any this season but yes they are great! Thanks Ghost
