Particularly drugs which are hallucinogenic (I hope is the right translation) can cause serious mental problems and neurotic disorders. But even weed, if you used long term and regular, can seriously mess up the users brain. Memory loss, difficulties focusing or to orientate not uncommon.

I particularly thought it clever to link Kyle's situation to this SL. He so much wanting a child, but Nancy - who he wants to spend his life with (even though I find the idea he should have turned straight over night, just as credible as that of a vegan tiger shark) - feels she has enough children. Wanting children with the woman he loves and hopes to spend the rest of his life with,, but she not wanting anymore children, must feel very difficult to get to terms with for him. I actually feel more sorry for him, than for Ollie, since Ollie both could have had his child, had he chosen his son over Brooke months ago, and also will have a chance to have children later in life, maybe even with Brooke, who he loves so much.. Also the focus on Darren and Mandy's pain and worry for DJ, who can not learn until than 17 years from now if he also has the FTD gene. And Luke's fear and regret of what he indirectly could have caused his sons to get. All those SLs contributed to anchor the developments to real life in an authentic way, at the same time as the development had plenty of real drama and genuine emotions. I prefer that to the ridiculous idea that Liam should want revenge on Maxine for Jesse's accidental death, all the time his own sister Grace both planned, and with intent, killed the love of Liam's life, and their unborn baby. But now I have an impatient cat awaiting food. Take here!:-)
Her parents in real life? WOW! Well, I am sure the father has other qualities, but it is kind of obvious Talia has inherited her acting talent from her mother. She was very good in that little scene, everything about her said she was a delighted new mother. The father came off a little too.. wooden (sorry). Watched the episode tonight I could never do this. Brooke seems rather selfish. Olly clearly wants to keep the baby. And what a shame the foster family didn't take the book he made. So sad
People who give a child up for adoption, give away all rights to and influence over that child, and until the child is 18 and allowed to be fully informed about his/her background (unless the adoptive parents inform them earlier), have full control over both the child`s upbringing and what, if any, information the child has about his/her birth parents. A book with pictures and words from Ollie and Brooke, and maybe their family too, is sweet to do, and could also help the child connect to it`s birth parents when old enough to be allowed to know about, and see them. But it could also cause problems if found by other "siblings," accidentally being stolen and surface somewhere outside of the adoptive parents` control, or be discovered by the child itself before the child has been informed about the fact he was adopted. Instead of giving it to the new parents of the child, Ollie and Brooke should have kept an album each themselves. So if one day their son came looking for them, they had something to show him to help him better understand where he comes from, why they couldn`t keep him, and so on. It is not always easy for a teenager to understand how the couple or individual who when they first meet them have a very good and solid life, should have denied them to be included in that life. Especially not if they at that time discover to have half-siblings who might seem to enjoy a more comfortable and carefree life than they have had themselves. But being shown pictures of how young the parents was back when the child was born, could help the child realize it was not unwanted, but that the parents honestly felt they were providing better opportunities and better security for the child by giving it up for adoption. In regard to the left behind album I suspect that, had it been real life, not to have been left behind intentionally. Had the new parents intentions been to deprive the child of an opportunity to learn about his birth parents, they would quietly have destroyed the album so no one ever could have gotten to see inside it. By leaving it at the hospital it would have been a significant risk someone would find it, and believing it was the starter album for a new born baby, would have handed it in so the right parents could be tracked down. Which could have been done by the hospital showing the photos to the staff, asking if they recognized the parents. Meaning not only could Ollie and Brooke learn about the album being left behind, they could change their mind about the adoption before the 6 weeks deadline too. So the new parents had everything to lose, and nothing to gain, by leaving the album behind intentionally.
Watch yesterday’s episode Luke told him about his illness and that’s when Ollie decided that no, it wasn’t a good idea for him to keep the baby, that’s why he decided no matter how hard it was that adoption was the best option. Darren (or Luke )even told him that he (Luke) wouldn’t even be able to help raise the baby because of his illness . People need to stop calling Brooke selfish.

It isn't just Brooke's fault. Olly's dad has a terminal illlness and he said to ollie that he won't be around much longer to help and raising a kid alone is one of the hardest things to do, so that's another reason why olly decided to give the baby up too :)

Everybody seems to feel sorry for Ollie tonight. Personally I felt more sorry for Kyle. He is telling Nancy she is the one he wants to be with for life, and she tells him she will never want another child. Meaning he himself will remain childless, should he stay with her. That is a lot to handle for the poor guy. I have a sneaking suspicion he will kick his drug addiction to prove to Nancy he is responsible enough to be father of an infant, and that Nancy and Kyle, or just Kyle, will end up help looking after Brooke and Ollie`s baby, so the parents can have a life and get an education, while the young boy is properly being looked after still. Time will tell I guess. But fingers crossed fro Kyle and Ollie to both have their wish.

I would be a lot more worried about the parenting suitability of people like Warren, James or Grace - who time and time again has proved there to be no limits to their taste for violence and/or manipulations, than to the suitability of a former drug user. As long as Kyle`s drug use had been in the past, there is no reason why he couldn`t be both a responsible and great parental figure. People like Warren, James and Grace, who not only break the law over and over, but also either commit violent acts or cruel manipulations are far more questionable to have be in charge of children. Kyle just as Ste, could have been a great parental figure. The drugs is only a problem as long as it still is in play, it being in the past - and a lot of people has proved it to be in the past when the carrot dangling in front of their face has been getting their kids back - there is no reason to think any kids looked after by Kyle would be in greater danger of accident or neglect than any other child.
A lot of young people watch your show and judging by the comments it really shows because a rational adult would understand this situation and decision. I don’t think the writers realize the impact has on young people...it’s irresponsible!
Ollie really didn't get a say in his son's life did he. I think Brooke is pretty heartless to firstly not use readily available contraception and secondly to be impervious to Ollies pain. Brooke is so sure about every move she makes so why so wreckless with contraception. Dad's should be treated fairly.

It isn't just Brooke's fault. Olly's dad has a terminal illlness and he said to ollie that he won't be around much longer to help and raising a kid alone is one of the hardest things to do, so that's another reason why olly decided to give the baby up too :)

@@emmajade6903 yeah I get that but unless people have autism, they can't really judge. But don't get me wrong I know Nancy would be there but sometimes that isn't just enough. At least she didn't terminate the pregnancy as I would rather for the baby to have a life than no life and with brooke's autism, it would change her life dramatically even if she wasn't a part of the Baby's life and olly was looking after it :)
Tammy B I just don’t understand why he didn’t get a say in the whole matter it’s his baby too not just hers. If that was me I’d rather lose my partner than my child. Tammy B he only agreed last minute as Luke wasn’t able to help him he had his heart set on raising that little boy until he was told about Luke. If Luke didn’t have dementia then Ollie would most likely be raising the baby

Everybody seems to feel sorry for Ollie tonight. Personally I felt more sorry for Kyle. He is telling Nancy she is the one he wants to be with for life, and she tells him she will never want another child. Meaning he himself will remain childless, should he stay with her. That is a lot to handle for the poor guy. I have a sneaking suspicion he will kick his drug addiction to prove to Nancy he is responsible enough to be father of an infant, and that Nancy and Kyle, or just Kyle, will end up help looking after Brooke and Ollie`s baby, so the parents can have a life and get an education, while the young boy is properly being looked after still.
Time will tell I guess. But fingers crossed fro Kyle and Ollie to both have their wish.

@@danielstark7239 If he gives up the drugs, I don`t see any obstacles to why he couldn`t. I would be a lot more worried about the parenting suitability of people like Warren, James or Grace - who time and time again has proved there to be no limits to their taste for violence and/or manipulations, than to the suitability of a former drug user. As long as Kyle`s drug use had been in the past, there is no reason why he couldn`t be both a responsible and great parental figure. People like Warren, James and Grace, who not only break the law over and over, but also either commit violent acts or cruel manipulations are far more questionable to have be in charge of children. Kyle just as Ste, could have been a great parental figure. The drugs is only a problem as long as it still is in play, it being in the past - and a lot of people has proved it to be in the past when the carrot dangling in front of their face has been getting their kids back - there is no reason to think any kids looked after by Kyle would be in greater danger of accident or neglect than any other child.
A lot of young people watch your show and judging by the comments it really shows because a rational adult would understand this situation and decision. I don’t think the writers realize the impact has on young people...it’s irresponsible!
Ollie really didn't get a say in his son's life did he. I think Brooke is pretty heartless to firstly not use readily available contraception and secondly to be impervious to Ollies pain. Brooke is so sure about every move she makes so why so wreckless with contraception. Dad's should be treated fairly.
