A do-it-yourself eyelighter, made with 1/8" thick Eucaboard, a wood block, a 1/4-20 nut insert, a space blanket, some fishing line and a couple of large washers.
From one Photographer to another... I appreciate the resourcefullness you've shown here... and from a Wood Worker too! ... Norm Abraham's would be proud! Thanks!
Great DIY! A small threaded hook to grab the fishing line into the wood in the center, from the shiny side, would allow the curve and keep the fishing line out of the photo.
A simple modification you can make, would to use the same washer and fishing line trick ; going with wide. You can also make it in 2-3 places if you wish. No wholes needed and will keep the fishing line next to board. Also, you can just use shinny formic board or pebbled Plexiglas.
I've since modified the design with two hooks near the center of the curve, which pulls the fishing line out of the way, but maintains the curve. I tried hooks along the edge, but they did not maintain the curve in the board that I wanted. I just posted a photos of the modification: on.fb.me/1l9DNP1
Dear Pat, I realize that I am very late in responding to your vid, but I really wish you would keep up the good work. Your projects are not only easy to do, professional looking, extremely needed in the industry, but you also decided to share them with everyone and for that and the other reasons, I am THANKFUL. I sure hope to see more projects in the very near future. Best Wishes, INFINITYFoto...me
Dear Pat, Is it at all possible to see some of the results of photographs that you have taken with your incredible project? Thanks again, INFINITYFoto....me
I know this is old but has anyone used this or have shots from this? I want to make one but use people's suggestions to pull the line to the board. Thanks!
I’ve looked at a lot of diy eyelighter designs and yours is clearly the best.
Chris Mayer thank you! It’s a simple build...I still use it weekly in my studio, even though I’ve since moved into a 2,000 s.f. Commercial studio.

Great video! Was poking around for a good DIY option, and I think this fits the bill!
