It was the intention behind it. I'm apart of their discord they confirmed they wanted the level to match the lyrics as much as they could.

This game looks incredible so far!! The animation, voice acting, songs, and scenery are phenomenal! Barnaby definitely has to be my favorite- I love his design and his personality. Can’t wait for the full game to come out!

I wonder how they programed this boss fight, because not everyone will run at the same rythm, but the obstacles still apear when the music mentions them
I’m assuming the level just keeps scrolling, if you fall too far behind, you probably die, so the song is the same every time and it doesn’t matter if you get to a particular obstacle a second or two late or early
So made something we named a "beat ruler". Im sure there is a more official term for this, but we made the entire level into 3D sheet music. We put 3D bars down on the floor like a ruler that signified each beat of a bar. So whenever the player had to jump or dodge hazards I'd place it so it lined up with that ruler.
Now what happens if Billie stops moving or moves side to side? We have a consistent dummy object that moves throughout the song which represents where Billie should be in the song. If she falls behind it will aggressively speed her back up until she is back in sync with the music. Don't move at all and Barnaby will kill you. If you happen to be ahead of the song it will slow Billies movement speed down.
@@BillieBustUp I thought they sync up on those long corridors where there isn't much happening.
I was imagining that maybe the lengh of them were dynamic so when you are too late the corridors were slightly shorter, or if you were too fast they would be slighly larger.
The method you guys used sure sounds more effective.

Assuming all of the pictures in the room are references/cameos, I'm not sure about the painting on the wall of the pony(?) character, but the painting on the left here shows Barnaby with the Snatcher from A Hat In Time, who is actually a shockingly similar character, now that I think about it.

seeing those gift art images as framed paintings in the room was freaking awesome.
It's so cool how the game tilts for part of the chase. Adds to Barnaby's crazy character.

I recently found this game while just randomly watching RUclips shorts- personally a huge fan of it already! Glad I caught it late, honestly, since there’s a lot to catch up on, which means i won’t forget it exists for a damn while.
Definitely gonna play this once it comes out. I’m a fan of musicals, and good artstyles, and being so mad I died in the last like 20 seconds of a boss fight I would rather slam my head against concrete than try again, so it’s definitely my kinda game.
Ever since I found this game I’ve been closely following everything about it, I love how the game is looking so far!
I haven’t seen anyone comment about it. The creators has a Tiktok and they show the progress. For awhile, Barnaby(the owl) was just a wall that the fans called Barnaby Wall. Let say everyone has hope it will return as an option. But I definitely recommend their account for behind the scenes!

i’ve seen some RUclips shorts of this game and it’s honestly amazing to see how far this game has come in development for 6 years!
That games seems really silly and fun. looking forward to its future release! :3 Hard mode wise, I think what that part needs is less health or the attacks to deal more damage. Either way less survivability so that you have less chance to make mistakes.

I think the cutscene where you fall out of the window is a reference to that one RubberRoss video where he made custom animations on a minecraft server to troll people with them, cuz I'm like 99% sure there was a part where he made, first the spin dash, that turned into randomly falling from stairs, just to finish it with the Peter Griffins laying pose, exactly like the cutscene played out.
I am hyped to play this when it comes out. I loved A Hat in Time and this just has that same charm around it.

I don’t think Barbaby is actually evil, but has a very twisted perception of life and death, viewing life as a curse and death as a blessing. I would go as far as to say he isn’t even mad about the theft of his gem so much as the audacity of the act. His entire motive for killing you is so that you could be a ghost and join his party. I get the feeling this is going to culminate in some misunderstanding. I can just feel a “heel face turn” coming around at some point in the game.

Huh just found your channel today so thought I'd comment.
I have been following billie bust up since fantoccio's song, so that is probably how this showed up in my feed, cool video and nice job beating both normal and hard on the first try.
I don't know where Fantoccio falls in the story of the game but for some reason they felt like a harder boss fight than this, HOWEVER this also feels like just a running sequence so if I had to guess, Barnaby will have at least one more fight where you challenge him for real as you didn't even get the crystal that you came for in the cutscene.
I really hope this game manages to get a good amount of traction on release, I've watched enough great games fail over the past year or 2 due to not having a marketing budget as good as the big companies (main personal examples being Town of Salem 2 and Traitors in Salem for me), so I wish it a great success as it oozes with passion.
I also wish you success with your channel as it is clear that you do it for fun, and not for straight up profit like many channels these days, might check out more of your videos later. (If you'll see more comments from me then you'll know if I did or not, haha).

@@minibotas9496 Agreed, I'd be surprised if there ends up being no second fight against Barnaby but at the same time, he feels like an almost godly figure so it might end up just being yet another chase sequence after we manage to sneak through the level and get the crystal.
I guess only time will tell.

until a point at the beginning of the run phase the villain has several expressions, but from one point to another he stops having expressions, I think it would be really cool if he had several expressions in the entire phase that refer to his insanity.
