I love the color, instead of aloe vera gel I would use a mix of sweet almond oil, beeswax and an essential oil I liked and make a salve instead. I think that it would maybe last longer but the texture would be more like a conventional lipstick and stay on my lips better.

I imagine it wouldn't last long (contains water from the aloe and sugars from the beets, which is perfect for bacterial and fungal growth). It would be best to sterilise the little jar before potting the mix and after that it may last approx 1 week in the fridge, and just a day or two outside.
I think if I add a little cocoa powder or maybe turmeric the color would interestingly change into some sort of nude or more natural tone. I can't wait for a little experiment 😁 weeee!

The powder can be set aside for about a month without losing pigment. But if kept appropriately dry and air sealed, it won't go stale for three- six months. Aloe vera doesn't keep well without preservatives... They do have over the counter aloe gel that can keep for a while (some with okayish preservatives). And you would just keep them separate untill needed.

if anyone needs a shortcut ( but less natural) version, you can also add food coloring to Vaseline and create a lip stain that way.
I tried that but it doesn't mix that well and is patchy. Try melting it first to make it a little easier!

Aloe Vera is extremely hard to blend when set so I would recommend to add few drops of glycerin and Shea butter
