Nothing better John. The sand beach videos just feel different, like you’re one of us grinding it out on some flat, slow sloping, soft structure Long Island beach. No fish staging in Boulder fields, just waves crashing, looking for birds, trying to find bait or cormorants or anything that offers a little hope and trying to piece it all together on the fly that day and in those given circumstances. The quintessential fall run experience.
I was just in Galveston, Texas on a fishing pier. I was able to catch a 43 inch redfish. the best fish I’ve ever caught in my life. Keep up your videos it’s what’s keeps me fishing
I actually saw you while walking back to the truck with my dad pretty funny because I turned to him and said that guy looks like John skinner though I didn’t think you’d be this far west. On Saturday the fishing was phenomenal and the stripers were a lot closer in than they were on Sunday.
I really enjoy the content from your videos, been learning a lot . Looking out over the water along the short NH coast looked like a desert this weekend, water temp dropped 5 degrees in a week. Word is there was macs in the Piscataqua river a few days ago. Peanut bunker seemed to move out in the open waters, birds were silent. looks like the season has ended up here.
John Skinner even uses a diamond jig !!! Everyone poo poos the diamond jig and labels it a "beginners only" tool. There is a time and place for everything!!!
Love watching the videos, very helpful. Just starting to pick at them along Jersey shore the bite seems to be at sunrise and sunset nothing during the day. Do you try to cast onto the sandbar or next to it and work the cut?
These kind of videos drive me crazy!! The only reason I watch them is to get an idea where the bite is. Unless I missed something he doesn't even say what state he's in! I understand the fear of giving up your location, but at least share what state your in. Sand beaches? There's lots of those! 😄 I fish Long Island, Demo, Gilgo, Robert Moses and many others. Oh no!!! Cats out of the bag!! 😁
As stated in the narration, it's the South Shore of Eastern Long Island. I do not get more specific than that out of respect for other anglers. Because of the distance from where I live and having closer fishing opportunities, this is a beach I don't fish often. It would have zero impact on me if I gave the location. However, those other surfcasters in the background are probably on this beach several times a week. It would be extremely rude and disrespectful to them for me to broadcast where this is. Yes, I'd get more views if I gave out locations, but no number of views justifies screwing other anglers who call certain areas their home.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Thanks for responding!! I missed it the first time through where you said eastern Long Island. My mistake! I would never expect for you to give your exact location, just a general location, which you did. I do find your videos interesting and informative. 🙂
@@JohnSkinnerFishingA gentleman and a scholar. Well said. A lot of turmoil on this subject lately. Just finished another book of yours, finally on to the last!
@@JohnSkinnerFishingyour probably right, sometime this week I’ll take the boat to Westhampton beach on the bay side and walk over to the ocean. I’m still very new to fishing and don’t know what I’m really doing. Your content has helped me learn a lot so thank you
There's been widespread reporting of sandeels on the south shore, but the way the birds were stuck on one area was confirmation. On the North Shore birds were picking peanuts.

Id give my left nut to never see another cormorant.
Back to the legendary days
The ocean was absolutely loaded with fish this weekend. I absolutely crushed it every day
At 15:25 you can see another fish that followed the striper you had hooked to shore. Pretty cool. A real feeding frenzy.
Nice eye, I had rewind to see.
Thanks for taking us along!
This I understand. Thanks, John.
Nice work John 👍
I'll take your surf fishing vids over boat and kayak all day long.
After that second fish i think i saw another follow up as you landed yours
Awesome video!!

Congrats on that!!
You never disappoint
Nice job John. Good to see you on a south shore sand beach again. I fish Jones and like to pick up on some of your tips

Nice when the birds bring you to fish
Thx for sharing !
You make it look soo easy !
God Bless 🇺🇸❤️🙏

Anyone that poo poos diamond jigs is a newbie that thinks they are a sharpie!
The right tool for the right job, whatever works!

Skinner there are a ton of bass feeding on bunker in the back bays of Stony brook harbor. What kind of presentation would you suggest?
Yup, right around 15:25...
15:20 a follower...
Hi John, what area do you usually fish when you fish the south shore? Moses, Smith Point or other?
What do you think is the best lure is for striped bass off a boat ?
How do you know what the fish are eating ? Thanks.
Any chance you'll do another shore tog video?
Hey John, beautiful water, are there Tautog in that second spot?
yes

Did you choose the A27 (v. A17) due to current, wind, or distance?
distance
Hey John I fish the north shore at about the middle of the island. Any ideas on when the run will make it's way over?
Already has
@@ImFahro sweet, I better get to it then
Do the bass bite during the day later in the fall when it gets colder? Or do they still only bite morning and night
It can happen all day this time of year.
This also doesn’t relate to the video but what do you look for when searching for blackfish, porgy, and Black Sea bass? I know they all like structure
Why do not you keep stripers??
I'd rather eat other fish that I catch.
Are you blind casting on the north shore bit? Or do you see signs of fish? Since the peanuts go by fast
What do you guys call “peanuts”?
@YuGo122 baby bunker (menhaden) usually about 3"-5"
I saw fish and birds on North Shore, briefly.
Man do you ever get skunked? I can’t figure out how to catch these bass in Moriches bay and I know you used to fish there, any tips? Thanks
I'd focus on the sand beaches right now.

Did those first 3 fish (south shore) hit at about the same distance?
Yes.
No sweep?
John where do you live state wise ? I thought you was here in RI
Long Island
Well done! Guess you will be heading to Florida in a month? Hoping your house was spared from Milton.

@@JohnSkinnerFishing John, to follow-up on your reply: What do you mean by “widespread reporting”? Where/how do you get hold of those reports?
Anyone know, Is this FINS/Smith Point ?
Don’t beat around the bush John, there is no shame in throwing a diamond jig.
Why hate on the diamond jig? Come on sir. Nothing better on sandeels...
A strange guttural sound @11:57!
Diamond jig, how gauche! What’s next, soaking clams?
Thank you for your videos! They are always so high quality and interesting. I can see that you are professionals.🌯🦧🫔
