I was born in '52 and the Beatles were phenomenal! No one had seen or heard anything like it! Then the young French kids mobbed them at Paris airport---then you just knew the Beatles were more than special! Well done Charlie! Greetings from the LOS!
The Beatles changed and in some cases invented different musical genre and styles. Oasis just did one establish style reasonably well. I saw Oasis at Glastonbury and they shuffled on stage, droned a few tunes and shuffled off. Compare that to the Sheah Stadium gig the Beatles did.
I also grew up in the 80's (some 70's) but am not delusional enough to think Oasis are better, bigger, faster, stronger than the Beatles. Liam sings the same thing in the same tone for every song and Noel has one guitar solo that he messes around with. Oasis 1st album and that's it that one was good. The one bad thing about the Beatles is that they influenced Oasis lol.
I'm an Oasis generation never got into the Beatles until I was older but the Beatles were the first to ever do it and are better musicians even if I like Oasis style in music better and rate Noel a lot that is just a fact and I prefer Oasis and love Liam but without the Beatles, you wouldn't have Oasis and many other bands like them.
Being Irish myself, living 21 years in Manchester, I love Liverpool and its people - I’ve passed through your beautiful city on overnight coaches on my way home to Ireland via Holyhead 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
My daughter did 3 years at John Moores University and she absolutely loved Liverpool ❤ We visited numerous times and loved the city. Nightlife is great and loved the live music
That Bank Scene was wild, young Adults who dont even know yet how life works wearing their Palestine Stuff like Fashion Accessories, it truly speaks volumes about this generation to be honest.
Young man selling Walker's crisps was funny. Now that's Scouse entrepreneurianism for ya. Love Liverpool. Bobbed back to visit St. John's market and the precinct two years ago and it's gone sadly downhill. Tiny market, poor shops selling schmatter and just general tat and crap in stores full of nothing. I guess city centres are ever changing entities. 😅 Bold street is still quirky and exciting though.
As a native of Chester city, I recall going on a school outing to Liverpool in 1967, the cathedral was still a new feature then, the city has changed a lot since my visit,
There used to be a time when Under Armour was worn by pro athletes and special forces. Now you see a fat youngin' walking out of Sports Direct, matching set, then in line at McDonalds.
what you call the 1970s radio tower was actually built as a restaurant in the late 60s, it closed down in the 70s and was left empty for many years before becoming the home of radio city
Wow to say Oasis did it “bigger than the Beatles” is insane 🤣 oasis didn’t remotely crack America whereas the Beatles, even in a time with barely any media they had women fainting and screaming for them in america. Oasis were the pound shop version of the Beatles.
Charlie, at 12.40 you should've detailed the outside of the Crown pub to the right of Lime Street station. The ceiling in the main bar is also a work of art !!! Keep them coming Bud 👍👍👏
2:04 I wish that, coming into Liverpool Lime St from Manchester Victoria, there was better access to the ferries to Ireland rather than via Holyhead - and no, I don’t want to go flying from Liverpool or Manchester to Dublin either - I wish I could join a cruise ship and head across the Irish Sea to Dublin from the old port in the city centre as a foot passenger despite the 8 hour crossing time, rather than the 3 hours via Holyhead, as the train journey with its changing trains enroute is so tiring
My wife and family are from Nelson and they say the town is actually not named after lord nelson himself but named after the pub called the lord Nelson
Jelvis Pelvis used to be a regular fixture in Belfast City Centre but he was always in competition with the DUP Presbyterian Bible Thumpers with their loud hailer so he was forced to cross the Irish Sea and thrust his hips in Liverpool.
When you live in a place you don't really appreciate it. I live in Belfast and I would say it's a dump. However, visitors love it, many fine buildings, all mainly in the town Centre.
Charlie you are probably unaware that Liverpool Central was at one time a mainline terminus above the current underground station. There was also another terminus at Exchange station, both now gone leaving Lime Street as the only mainline terminus in Liverpool.
fun fact about oasis Charles, i quote from a noel Gallagher interview was in a shop getting dinner and ordered a bowl of soup, where the waitress then asked him 'do you wanna ROLL WITH IT'. true story, check it out 😂
next time you're in liverpool, go to mels and try to find the house on the beachfront that was used as malc's and his mothers house from the classic tv show watching....... :)
Charlie I wish I’d seen you yesterday, I’d have welcomed you with a cigarette, coffee and walkers crisps. Thanks for the videos they keep me entertained 👍
It's interesting how less "multicultural" Liverpool is compared to London and Manchester. Yet the people there are very leftwing and support open borders. Same with Glasgow.
Liverpool had the first Chinatown in Europe and the oldest black community in the UK outside London and the oldest Italian community in Britain it's still very multicultural today
Liverpool is beautiful, but it's a shame of all the trash. It almost looks like some of our American cities. I just find it stramge British folk would litter like some of our's.👀
Fun fact: The twin-tailed 'Mermaid' is a Melusine. One of the mythological differences that differentiate her from Mermaids is that she appeared in Fresh water... even flying from wells! Melusine is also a popular girls name here in France! Or put it this way, I live in a village with five houses and I have met three of them, but then I do have a well in the garden!!! 🤫
Watching on my PC and thinking what the heck is still wrong with Charlies focus. The whole vid was so poor....... then realised i was watching in 480p 😆
Oasis did it better ? Get out of it.
Even Oasis would disagree with that take and they are egomaniacs.
Yep, Oasis would be the first to say the Beatles were their biggest inspiration.

Big fan of you Charlie, but Oasis shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles.

I'm manc living in liverpool, the beatles did more in 7 years than any other band let alone a bunch of hacks like noel gallagher
Oasis were obsessed with the Beatles they admitted that themselves and you can tell by the amount of times they ripped them off

Quite reassuring to see a lack of boat people walking around Liverpool in this video. Perhaps there is hope
Go to north Liverpool you will see it’s like a third world country. Anfield Walton and breck road
Not Blundellsands though… it’s posher than Belgravia 😂

WOW I never knew Liverpool was so pretty and some amazing buildings there!

obviously haven't made your fortune yet because if you had you, like the rest of them, you would have moved out as soon as possible.
